My thoughts on New frontier at the moment.

I have to sau that New frontier is turning up to be my Least favorite Walking dead Game by telltale i dont hate it like alot of people do but i dont like it alot either so let s talk about what i think is wrong with a New frontier its just an opinion not a fact.
1: Let s start with the obvious and Talk about the Flashbacks now i dont mind how they handled The Alone and Wellington Flashbacks as much as the others so let s talk about Jane s Flashback first: Jane commiting Suicide just goes against her Character Completely since she did talk alot about how Jaime gave up and how she wasnt gonna do that so i feel like a simple solution would be better than the one they came up with for example:
Have Clem and Jane be on watch at Carver s place and have the place be attacked by remmants of Carver s group who survived the Herd for example or Have the family turn on them and make it so there s a shootout resulting in Jane s death ((And if people refused the family they could just do the break in thing they do in the flashback that telltale made and end up killing Jane who discovered they were stealing their supplies.))
Problem solved.
Now as for Kenny s flashback i do have to admit that i am a bit biased of him and most of my problems with it is the way he died as his dialogue was completely in character so his character was handled better than Jane .
Its like as if they took Daryl and killed him on a Car crash is it realistic? Yes. Is it a fitting end for his character? No so of course these 2 flashbacks would receive the amount of Flashback they received . So id better move to my biggest point on why i dont Like this season.
2: Too Much Action: Differently From season 1 and 2 and several other games made by telltale before Batman the story just centers too much on action instead of having Hubs where you can talk to the Characters in your group resulting in knowing what they re doing how they are and all of the other things telltale s Content Presented before. There were always a couple of moments of peace like that where you could establish more with each character Thus making them feel more realistic and making you feel more Confortable and liking them alot better. Which is why i miss the way telltale handled the other games like Wolf among us, Tales from the borderlands, Season 1 of walking dead and althought season 2 did have this same formula of having less of these peaceful moments the difference is that the Episodes lasted longer than the ones we have in A New frontier which gave us the Chance to atleast get to known the Characters a little bit more.

  • Wonder if anyone gave up on reading what i wrote just cause they saw that the first complaint was on the Flashbacks...

  • I've read it. Solid points. It's just hard to read because of punctuation and structuring. :)

  • You can't say it's your least favourite because you only played 2 episodes

  • I have to agree with this. It has been a pretty poor debut overall, but that does it reflect what it'll be at the end. TT still has the chance to correct a lot of the issues so far, I'm really hoping if they were set the reviews have caused them to take criticism into account. I still think the first two episodes were dedicated to introducing the season and setting up the NF arc. It will, hopefully, begin picking up in Episode 3 and end with a resolution in 5 in an dedicated arc. Despite my disappointment, I'm not quite ready to say this season is a dud because there's still a good deal left to be explored.

  • I did say in the title that it was my thoughts at the moment. If they make the story better in the next episode then i will Gladly withdraw my point but up until now New frontier does have alot of issues.

  • The action was probably just to get new people on board. S2 probably wouldn't have drawn in more new players due to it being direct squeal so Telltale decided to put as much action in S3 premier which was intended to be a season that could be picked up without having played the previous ones.

I like to think of this as Mass Effect 1 vs ME3 opening. 1st one had amazing tutorial/opening atmosphere, you could take your time, take in the sights, get your squad mates opinions on what they see, it was quite peaceful as long as you ignore the combat bits on Eden Prime. 3rd ones opening was anything but that. Granted you could of course just finish combats bits and also stand there but it was obvious that there was a sense of urgency. You were given some exposition to fill in the gap between ME2 and ME3 and just enough for new players to understand whats going on (big aliens attack sooner than expected, escape now). It was the 3rd game, everything was established already so of course they had to go for a big opening but there was still quite a lot of story content and squad mate character development. Here's hoping the same will be true for S3.

  • I completely understand your feelings, I'm in the same boat with you tbh

  • 1: Glad to see a ME fan here :D.
2: That is good and all but ME3 and telltale s the walking dead are 2 different styles of game since ME3 has several hours of content while telltale s Games have alot less content in them .

  • but i already played the game the problem is how the 2 episodes are only 1 hour long and that the game doesnt let you have enough time with the characters before killing them off or making them determinant. At this point the only characters i care about are: Jesus Valkarian ((lol)), Clem and Eleanor.

  • Garrus is literally one of the best things about ep 2. I lost all my shit when I heard him speak lol
