The Walking Dead Season 3 iOS iPad
I have waited so long for the final Season of the Walking Dead game series having bought the first season when it was released and all episodes and extra episodes including all Season 2 and the Michonne story. It has been an excruciating wait for season 3 but finally it's here! I purchased The Walking Dead A New Frontier without hesitation but wait...... It says "incompatible with your device"!?!
Why is this incompatible with my device when my device runs the required iOS 9! This does not seem fair. Please tell me there is an update!

What iPad are you trying to run the game on?
Hi Megami it's an iPad2 but it is up-to-date with iOS 9.3. I've never owned another iPad and purchased this brand new. I don't own an iPhone as they are too costly. I bought The Walking Dead Season 1,2, 400 Days, Michonne Tales etc all on this iPad.
That's weird, it should be compatible with your iPad. You should try checking the compatibility list on the app store and see if your device is listed there.
No the iPad 2 is not listed even though it meets the recommended iOS. I've emailed Telltale as well. I just feel a sense of loyalty lost as I have been a reliable fan of telltale games. I've also bought The Wolf Among Us game and Law & Order but didn't buy The Batman game as I heard it needs iOS 10. I accepted my loss on that but to create a seasonal series that doesn't run the last season on the device I've always purchased them on seems very disloyal and even dishonest. I wouldn't have invested in this series if I had known I would need to purchase a new device as well!
It's not only about the iOS, its also about the hardware in your ipad.
Of course it is Retalin. So did Telltale not realise the device compatability parameters when creating Season 3 like they did when creating Seasons 1, 2, 400 Days, and the Michonne mini series?.....interesting.
They had different graphics. Season 3 got updated with better graphics which means it requires more power.
As ReTaLiN said, Telltale is using an updated version of their engine for newer series starting with Batman and The Walking Dead: A New Frontier. Those series - as well as future series - will have higher hardware requirements to run because of Telltale's engine upgrade.
Why start with The Walking Dead A New Frontier? I mean it's the third instalment of a three season series that started on Apple devices running an earlier iOS...it's a bit dubious if you ask me. As I already mentioned I accepted my loss with Telltales Batman game as it is a new series and Apple, of course, updates the iOS software but I feel taken advantage of by making the last season compatible only on newer devices. I feel conned!
PS perhaps ReTaLiN should just do the moderator job on here?
Video games typically have sequels that have higher hardware requirements. Various video game series have launched on older consoles/hardware, and have later had sequels that only run on newer consoles or hardware.
Yes I understand that with an Xbox or PlayStation you buy a game for €70 it's a stand alone game for that console but Telltale have provided a game here that runs on iOS 9 which is compatible with my device and yet I can't purchase it. Articles are on the net announcing that Season 3 isn't compatible on Xbox or ps4 but doesn't mention iOS devices. And to finish a series that started on iOS 6 but now requires a new device to access the final season is a cop out. Why would I have wasted my time playing your games in the first place if that was the case.
Like it was previously mentioned, just because your device is in iOS 9, doesn't mean that a game that requires iOS9 would be compatible for your device.
Plus, the hardware of the iPad 2 is significantly weak now that I've checked it out.
iOS is just the software; iOS updates only add new software features. Every time Apple releases a new version of a device, they typically upgrade the hardware. What matters mostly is the hardware (meaning, the physical device) and how powerful it is.
The devices that are powerful enough to run the game are listed here: https://telltale.com/support/article/twd3-ios-devices/
What matters most is what device you have, not what version of iOS you are running.
Just as game developers create game sequels thay require newer and more powerful consoles over time, Telltale did the same with New Frontier by developing it for higher end hardware. This is nothing abnormal.
Your right - why did hell did I even buy these games in the first place. I won't be buying walking dead new frontiers and I won't be buying Apple products again either. Cut my losses and save me a load of stress. Happy New Year Telltale!
Uhhh, why should I do the moderator job here?
So you're saying companies aren't allowed to graphically update their games if they released it previously on a specific device?
I am completely sorry, but that's the stupidest thing I have ever heard.
Time passes and so games get upgraded with various features if it goes from the games mechanics or the games graphics.
This is how companies work.
As time passes things get advanced and older hardware get burried as it can't handle the new stuff.
iPad 2 is using the A5 chip. And the lowest supported iPads are iPad Air, iPad mini 2 and iPad pro When they are using the A7 chip Besides iPad pro which uses the A9X chip and as you can see, The lowest supported Chip for this game is the A7. anything below it is not support as its too weak to handle this game.
