Yeah, from the sounds of it, it isn't the actual developers at Telltale that are the problem-- it's the management.
People getting shuffled from project to project, strict deadlines, random rewrites out the wazoo, underwhelming pay, and the list goes on.
Like, a lot of people throw flak at the writers for S2, but is it really their fault, when you think about it? If they're being constantly shuffled between games, given a short amount of time to plan out a story, let alone write it, then possibly getting told to rewrite an episode half-way through, can you really blame them for the episodes not turning out well? They're doing what they can, but you can only get so far when you're getting told to do this one minute, do something else the next, and rewrite that the next. That'd be tough enough on just one writer... but an actual team of them, all expected to know what each of them are thinking when they're being juggled all over the place? It's a miracle the stories even come out as coherent as they do, if you ask me.
I was just reading some of those reviews you pointed out. A lot of the pros and cons among both current and former employees are all the sam… moree, the people they work with are nice and hard working, but management is a huge problem, and I can tell you that, from a fan perspective, that is painfully obvious. A lot of them either disapprove or have no opinion on Kevin, which is certainly not good as a business.
The entire state of affairs with Telltale just blows my mind. Fucking pathetic, who runs a company like this??
I'm not even sure that anybody is running TattleTale at this point.
A few folks have theorized that the reason why Wolf and Tales ended up being a bit more coherent and consistent with their writing was that they had quality control from Bill Willingham and Gearbox(possibly Anthony Burch). There's also the fact that the Michonne mini series had a story consultant and I think a writer for the original Back to the Future films helped with some of the writing with the Back to the Future game.

Some guns were reused, textures, furniture. Cabinets in Javier's house were reused. Shit ton of stuff in the kitchen was reused actually. Animations were reused "batmanGM_head_lookDown_add.anm" and "batmanGM_headEyeGesture_blinkLong_add.anm." Lots of the files were taken/originated from Batman's. Batman + Zombies = The Walking Dead, lol. Trying to find/think of more. I'll edit my comment when I get some more.
On the real? Telltale games seems so disorganized..with it's story and characters...I feel like Clems race is changing every fucking week, what the hell??..find one race and stick to it god dammit. One minute she's white, the next shes black, now when we most of us come to terms with her being black, she is now supposedly blasian? WHERE is this coming from?? I'm so exhausted from season 1 where everyone and their mother was calling clem white that I almost dont give a shit, at least we are acknowledging that she is at least half black. Someone stick to a race so we can get fucking past this.
Lets not get into the tragedy that is the character development. How a character is developed or semi developed and then just cut out of the season entirely because I guess they don't matter anymore. Christa had some substance, people liked her and cared about her, they felt sorry for her..and she was killed and replaced by a bunch of people none of us gave that much of a shit about..and her death was so shitty... she was fucking killed off screen. You can bring fucking Kenny the top tier asshole 'since ur black can you pick locks?' back, but cant bring Christa back? fuck that pls. we never even got to know what happened to her baby. Someone brought up a good point..why was christa replaced with another pregnant woman when you could have just used god damn christa int he first placekhnfkel dhflkhsdklgkdlhklrdhgklh. we could have had an emotional moment....telltale can be so much more than it chooses to be and yet it decides to take a good thing and drive it right into the fucking ground god dammit.
they need to get it the fuck together. If I stay through this entire season, and it's all shit...I won't be paying for anymore of their games...
Don't you just hate when someone working with the company confirms things are as big of a mess as most fans suspected they were? SAY MORE HAPPY THINGS FOREVER!
I agree with her in a way. Putting so much effort into voice acting and putting the right emotion into lines just to rewrite the whole thing and scrap your hard work instantly.

And another thing I said about a year + ago that she looked Asian (I'm part Asian myself) and was shut down like a Windows computer so I'll just slowly evil smile
You know, there's something that's really been irking me for a while. TT really pushed this Javier story hard as the focus of the season since the start of December, they've obviously removed some big scenes with Clem, and reduced her to a barely playable role. But everytime I see the official TT accounts posting on social media about ANF being available or the accolades it receives, nearly every single picture they attach features either Clementine alone, or as the focus of the shot. It's like even they don't know who's game this is.
I think it was the picture who threw it off. I honestly thought she was mixed myself, her father is clearly black but her mother could have been mixed, I know a few Hispanic women who have Asian features so I went with that lol

Well, you were shut down with good reason. Clementine is not African-Asian-American. She is just African-American; nothing more, nothing less. Sure, Melissa Hutchison thinks Clem has Asian in her but all she does is voice act. A Telltale employee confirmed Clementine is black.

Probably because they did not realize how much of a backlash having a new protagonist would be, and they thought (for some reason) that they could attract a bunch of Call of Duty players to play the walking dead, when that failed, they probably started doing what theyre doing because they realized most of the people playing A New Frontier want more Clem. I wouldnt be surprised if we see a major increase in Clem playtime in the next episodes based on the feedback they have been getting, but then again, they might just do nothing

It gives some hope that they're listening, at least. I mean, almost every post on release day was carrying the official art with Javier front and center, but it's quickly changed over the last few weeks in the way they promote the series. Maybe because of the outcry, or because of the overwhelmingly one sided numbers that have sided with Clementine through the first two episodes. Melissa echoing a lot of issues fans have had with the game and the fact that the episodes are written as they go give me some hope that maybe they will rectify the issues, give Clem more of a focus and playtime, and return to what these games do best. But with so many people trying to do so much behind the scenes its gotta be a mess behind the scenes, and that still worries me a lot.

I mentioned a reference from Resident Evil 4. Should I spoil it a little bit? It's not part of the story though.
sure, I'd like to understand the reference!

That makes a lot more sense now, thanks!
you know too much - i'm just trying to fit in but i'm failing
Holy shit
How deep does this conspiracy go?
Maybe we are all Blind Sniper.
Tell us what you have found!
Like, more than just the Netflix inspired menu (or other typical instances of a few assets being reused between games)?

Sweet. This forum was already turning into a rantfest. Now its going to get even worse with Melissa Hutchinson to co-sign.

Wasn't the TWD forums already a rantfest before season 3? :P
So does this mean we won't see this screenshot anywhere in the game?
That's likely in episode 3 or 4. Wherever they do the flashback showing how TNF turned bad and Clem splitting up from AJ.
But Clem's with Javier.
No matter what she's gonna end up coming back. Come on, it's Telltale.

Did they ever really say that? I only ever remember Telltale confirming she was black, nothing else

people who played the game were saying she was white on tumblr

Where did Telltale claim monthly releases for ANF?
