MacHeist: Unlock doesn't work!

I've purchased game from Macheist bundle few days ago. After I've registered on telltale, downloaded and installed game, it gave me "telltale login" in order to unlock the game. BUT THE LOGIN FORM IS NOT WORKING! When I type correct login info, it gives me "Sorry, we ran into problems" error with error code "UNLOCK_EMPTY".

I've contacted support for manual unlock twice, but received no response from them either. Hope this forum will make things faster.

I just don't like the idea of waiting several days in order to unlock the game I've already paid for!

    I have exactly the same problem. Can't unlock, contacted support yesterday, but so far no answer. I'll be patient, but this is definitely a disappointment. Hopefully they'll fix it eventually, because at least for me Tales of Monkey Island was number one reason to buy Macheist nanobundle.

    I also purchased from Macheist and I'm not able to download. I click the link on the Macheist receipt page and it takes me to your site with the code already listed but tells me the code is invalid.

    Its sad that the built in unlocker seems to not work for large number of mac users and the manual process for the user is also a manual support ticket system for you guys as well.

    Seems to be "defective by design" - where copy protection spends more time preventing real owners from accessing their own stuff.

    Launching on Macheist with a known mac unlock problem at the same time - hmmmm
    so that is 50000 support tickets?

    Bought through MacHeist - Cannot get unlock code - If I click on Get it now for Tales of Monkey Island it walks me through a purchase system and I can't get the code.

    Could it be possible....? Nah! Couldn't be. You don't suppose MacHeist would dabble in collusion just to introduce a new game site, or 'game' at a game site, do ya? Are these two sites in cahoots?

    Seems improbable, but I can't believe the old 'can't unlock your "free" game' situation is a ruse. Ya think? Else, why would it be happening to so many people?

    The game sure made the MacHeist bundle a little tastier. Maybe telltale games is getting a cut of the profits?

    All I know is, I WANT MY CODE, AND I WANT IT TO ENABLE THE GAME!

    C'mon, Bonnie---You KNOW that the large majority of 'tickets' are about this unlock problem. Why can't you just do a little web site work around and give us legitimate MacHeist purchasers a way to 'authorize' our download! This is not funny.

    Patience is a virtue. She already stated she is working on it, and that it is only her dealing with the tickets. Telltale is by no means a new company that needs to try and cheat people in order to gain fame. They've been around since 2004 and won plenty of awards for their games. However they aren't a large company, and I'm sure they're doing their best to take care of the huge influx (~70,000 MacHeist bundles) of orders that didn't go properly. And each one of those bundles needs a unique serial number. While I'm sure that she would love a magic wand that could solve it instantly (or one that could do a magic "little work-around") fixing problems does take time and (wo)man-power to resolve. Just her acknowledging the problem promptly & publicly and giving a quick update is much more than most huge corporate companies would do. Heck, I'm still waiting for a resolution for an issue from a major big-box retailer that has been open for 5 weeks now, with weeks inbetween contacts. I'd love for them to give me an update on the issue as quickly as Bonnie did.

    Patience IS a virtue. No one knows this as much as me. Thanks for the props jtkauff, appreciate it. I really wish I had that magic wand right now.

    We think we have found the issue, at least for many of you. Please try the following:

    1. Go to your original confirmation email from Telltale Games (not MacHeist) to see the email address (and password) you used when you opened/registered your account with us (that is, when you redeemed the code to get the game). Make a note of this information.

    2. Launch the game. When prompted, log in with the email/password that was in the confirmation email from Telltale.

    3. If by chance the first attempt does not work, please try one more time.

    We think this will solve the issue, and we would love it if you would repost with your result (if it worked or not).

    Just got my manual activation code. Even that isn't working. Can someone help me solve this?

    When I attempt to launch the first chapter of this game, I receive an error that says the application quit unexpectedly. And when I click ReLaunch, I get the same error. What am I doing wrong?? This is a terrible user experience! Please tell me what to do next.

    Are you talking about your serial number or a manual unlock code that you received from me through support? Honestly, you shouldn't need the serial number to unlock your games, as long as you use your ttg credentials to log in, system should recognize and unlock the game when you're signed on. Are you getting errors?

    You've experienced a crash. Seems there may be a permissions bug with 10.5.8

    Run DiskUtility in Applications/Utilities, Select your disk and click in "Verify Permissions", and let me know if anything was reported. If it was, click on "Repair Permissions" then try the game after the repair completes.

    If that doesn't work, we suggest the following:

    0) Open \Applications\Utilities\Terminal.app
    1) Type the following line in and hit enter:
    Code:

    chmod -R 755 \Applications\MonkeyIsland101.app

    Assuming the file is in the Applications folder. If it's a different location, you can drag-and-drop the file onto the Terminal folder and it will paste the path in.

    1a) If it yells at you for permissions, you'll need to use admin privileges and use this line. If this doesn't work, you need to be on an admin account and do this process.

    Code:

    sudo chmod -R 755 \Applications\MonkeyIsland101.app

    2) Repeat this process for each MonkeyIsland episode. You can cheat and hit the UP button once, then edit the 101 to 102 and so on.

    Good luck! Let me know how it goes and if that fixes it.

    I'm having the same trouble as kmcdeav1. I've tried your suggestions and I stil can't get chapter 1 to load! Chapter 2 will load just fine. But I want to start at the beginning! Help!

    Once you click on the link (heist code) from macheist, it redeems the code and creates an order. This is very confusing to say the least, I know. Lots of peeps in your shoes. We're looking into a fix/explanation. But for now, check your pm's for your order and download page.

    Are you getting a crash log like kmcdeav1? This is a long shot but one of our mac peeps got it to work by doing the following:

    -start mac in safe mode by holding down the left shift key during boot
    -launch monkey and yes, it will crash again
    -start mac again without safe mode and the game should run.

    If that works, great, let us know. If not, if you haven't already, send a ticket into support and I will forward it to one of our mac testers for further help.

    In the banner at the top of the page is a joystick icon. If you've already created an account, click that icon to go to your purchase history. In my case, the various episodes of the game--and their serial numbers--were on that page.

    Hi!
    I tried the solution mentioned. I've put my e-mail and password (from the confirmation). I tried 3 times and it didn't work... I also tried changing my password and it didn't work either. The game acts like if it wasn't able ton connect to the unlocking system. The response is immediate and it gives me an error message with the UNLOCK_EMPTY keyword.

    I'm on 10.6 can it be the cause?

    I have the same issue as Yadox; and I am also on Snow Leopard.

    Have you tried using the serial number instead?
    Can you ping www.telltalegames.com ?

    I tried to ping www.telltalegames.com. I don't know if it worked, here are the statistics:

    --- telltalegames.com ping statistics ---
    10 packets transmitted, 0 packets received, 100.0% packet loss

    And I tried the serial number in the Unlock Code space, didn't either...

    It didn't work. According to this user's experience the launcher relies on pinging the server, which seems to be blocked somewhere in your network.

    You can try to configure the responsible firewall accordingly, or using a different internet connection for activation as a workaround.

    I also purchased from Macheist and I'm not able to download. I click the link on the Macheist receipt page and it takes me to your site with the code already listed but tells me the code is invalid.

    I am having the exact same problem. Should the download consist of one app or a number of downloads - like chapters in a book?

    Add another, I downloaded the latest version, cant unlock with a valid account (email or userid). Email(s) sent.... I hope the unlock code (when I get it) works for ALL the episodes. This is a hassle.

    I was getting the message that my MacHeist filled in code on the gift page was not found, I sent an email a couple of days ago... Nothing.
    I then tried to post to this forum and got a not signed in message (I was signed in), figured out that I needed to have a username to sign in... Added a username and after I set a username, I went to a screen showing all the stuff I had bought (the tales of Monkey Island) with download links, i.e. I'm in, problem solved!!!
    So what happened? How did this work after I added a username?

    Had this worked once the first time, and I didn't notice and from then on said gift code not found (since it had been used?). Or did someone fix this and not tell me?

    Weird, since this obviously did not fix anyone else's issue that posted, since they must have a username to post. Anyone getting the Heist code "not found" on the gift page, might try ignoring it, logging in and going to the Purchased items page to see if it is actually there...

    Ok... I got the unlock code for the first chapter, but it doesn't work for the second one... Actually if I could find a way to allow my Airport Extreme to ping www.telltalegames.com it would probably solve the problem, doesn't it?

    I can't say that for sure.
    What kind of internet access do you have?
    Can you ping if you bypass the Airport Extreme?

    I can't bypass the airport extreme since it's sharing internet with everyone here... I sent an e-mail with a request code for the second chapter a week ago and didn't get an answer... Will I have to send an e-mail and wait a week for each chapter?
