Why Negativity Will Ruin Your Experience
So we all know that a very large amount of people are upset about ANF's premiere. There is some very reasonable criticism, and there are just some nitpicking and desperate complaints.
Negativity won't help this game. And it most certainly won't help your enjoyment of the game. So look at the plus sides of things.
I feel like there's been a shroud of negativity covering this forum and has caused us to think this game is like elephant shit.
It's been almost a month since the premiere, and it's time that we look to the future instead of looking back.

The excitement don't bring any solutions either. Hyping games can cause trouble. You saw what happened to Watch Dogs, Destiny and No Man's Sky.
How will the game improve if we don't tell them what's wrong?
Constructive criticism is fine, but when it gets to the point where every single thread is about how bad a game is, it gets annoying, not gonna lie.
We don't even know if Telltale even listens to us anyway.
Being a yes-man doesn't help, that is true.
However, the opposite extreme of hating on everything for one reason or another is just as bad.
A healthy, reasonable balance is needed in order to truly help the other party.
I agree.
How do we know that Telltale even takes our criticism in mind?
I just talked to the community manager in the Ep 3 waiting thread. Apperantly they're are reading our threads, etc.
They probably thought "let's wait it out and it'll go away" like they did with Batman's performance patch. They released it 4 months later when no one cared anymore.
I think it's always good pointing out the pros and cons, but the last week's been making me feel gloomy on here with that recent interview. Even though I understand where it's coming from, and agree with some of it, I don't know if a few parts are being blown out of proportion by fans or if I'm misinterpreting those bits wrong myself. My brain's burnt out.
Regardless, the premiere I played was fucking good even with the flaws I can pick out, but I still enjoyed it. I don't know if the season will continue to be like that [the same happened with Season 2] but, I'm trying to keep an open mind right now. That said, the negativity's made me reluctant to finish a review for the premiere, that I still don't know if I want to get it done and post the stupid thing.
But I think the reason I feel gloomy about it is because I've seen this happen before on another series, and I'm worried if we keep complaining, either things will get better [which'd be a pro] or, Telltale will just say 'fuck it' and this'll be the last season of TWDG period, and goodbye Clementine and everything else.
Staying negative makes the world darker, hateful and you will be impatient. Stay positive and you will find yourself happier and more patient.
Wisdom gained through experience.
We definitely read and report up.
Constructive criticism is the best to read; I live for that stuff. Things like "i didn't like this episode bc reasons" aren't productive.
THANK YOU!
I'm so happy to hear this.
Exactly!
Once again thank you mostlypoptarts you are truly awesome
You're too kind!!
They'll probably end it. I'm sorry to break this to you - but they're lazy and have no idea what to do anymore. They don't even know what direction Season 3 will be going to. Constant rewrites. They already made Clementine a secondary character, and cut so much content from the final game.
I don't know anymore. The future of TWDG is... not bright right now.
Negativity won't help?
The Extended Cut for Mass Effect 3 would tend to disagree.
About that cut content. We don't know if yet if it'll be shown at a later date. Think about it, if David's part of the New Frontier and Clementine has a connection with that group, isn't it possible they decided to hold it back until after the David reveal? Some of things Melissa spoke about seem like things that could easily get explored later.
Or, I could be completely wrong, and in which case, I'm upset
I think Jobs said that they will Keep making TWD games as long as people keep wanting them, I believe he said that back in October or what not.
Funny. I remember Batman's performance patch happening within a day or two of release.
Batman's performance patch happened about a week and a half after Batman episode 4 came out in November.
Yeah that is a valid point. EA forced the release too early even knowing that Bioware was not satisfied. God I still get angry over that original ending. However being negative without having an idea of what you would have done or even accepting that they did a lot of things right does not help.
There's a right way and a wrong way to criticize a game.
The right way is to criticize with the intent of seeing improvement. To make such intent clearer, attention should be called to what was done right, as well as what was done wrong.
However, comments like "omg this is terrible why do they even bother", or "people who like this are delusional", or "I'm quitting for good", have absolutely zero constructive content and thus do nothing to improve the work.
I think why it hit the players (me among them) hard it is because the game was soo good until it reached the ending. Then it all went downhill from there.
Obviously no one wants to sit here with alot of negativity, and I really dont agree with "I hate it because I do." But I feel like if we dont say how we really feel we can expect no change. And honestly if everyone said how they felt and gave real reason on why they didnt like it, it would help in the long run because it give Telltale more details on what they can do and try to fix it.
Well I don't think this will be the last season...the best case we can hope for is somehow opening up lines of communication with the writers...asking them questions and telling them our issues. I agree I loved the premier. It was too damn short and needed more character moments...but I did enjoy it a lot.
You're are part of the reason why I want to write/work for this company. Thank you so much!
You mean the Die with a red light versus Green or Blue...but DIE!!! Yeah and the fact people were on the ground and then they were on the Normandy...then the destruction of the relays should have killed everyone in the galaxy...stupid ending.
That's one of the nicest things I've read on here!
They do. 'member that time they added batteries line?
Outspoken criticism is the main way that the concerns and issues will be acknowledged and fixed. Complacency will get us more of the same.
That's exactly what I've been saying! If people just swear you guys out nothing will change. If people actually have constructive criticisms you'll listen.
Preach!
You're too nice, Lilac!
That is entirely subjective.
That is false; if it were true, the season wouldn't exist.
The Wolf Among Us also underwent several rewrittes, and, yet, it is one of the most beloved series for a large portion of the users of the forum!
I understand that you and several others are worried, though, and I also understand why you feel that way. Those feelings are entirely comprehensible.
The overwhelming negativity on the website, along the flood of low-quality posts, push me away from the forum every single day.
I was thinking this past week, all this drama is really taking all the fun out of playing these games.
I did look at the upside of things while giving it another chance. I still hated it, but not as much as before.
