The Premiere Was "Too Big"

“There is just one issue, which was—the season premiere was a little bit too big to fit into one episode, so we're actually releasing two episodes. The premiere is a two-part, two-episode premiere, called the "Ties That Bind." Both episodes come out December 20th.”

—Kevin Bruner, CEO of Telltale, at the Game Awards 2016.

Everyone when they figured out this wasn't a good thing:

  • And when you realise it's because they only have enough story for 4 episodes.

  • The premiere of ANF is too big that we couldn't fit it into one episode!

  • you can play as Clementine!

    I feel ripped off alright. ;_______;

  • I put that up there with when your parents tell you that the family dog went to live on a farm, but then you find out later he got hit by a car and is buried in your mom's flower garden. Except this lie had not love.

  • When its so big that it just passes 2 hours total

  • This is one of the worst lies Telltale has told recently, particularly due to how obviously false it is.

  • Wait, what? Where's the cat I had when I was little? SHE SAID THERE WERE OPEN FIELDS FOR HIM TO PLAY IN

  • You wanna know what else was "too big", Kevin?

  • I believe what happened is that Kevin panicked and explained something different than what had been explained to him, and that they weren't intending to mislead us.

who am i kidding, they were clearly lying

  • As much as I enjoyed these episodes, I agree with most of the people on this forum. There was absolutely no need to split this into two parts. You could've easily put this into one episode. It would've been two hours, but so fucking what? What rule says you're not allowed to have a 2 hour episode?

  • edited January 2017

Yep. This goes along with them listing Clem as a co playable character. They're just lying without actually technically lying, and it's utter bullshit.

Edit: and wtf is with t he "too big to fit into one episode". Now that's a straight up fucking lie. Took me 2 hours to complete both of these episodes when some of the s1 episodes took 2 hours for a SINGLE EPISODE.

  • I'd love to know what gave Telltale even the slightest idea to even use this as the reason of releasing two episodes at once. I would have preferred for them to just come out and say they are going to release 2 episodes to launch ANF. That statement is a just laughable of being "too big"

  • That's not the only thing Kevin Burner did

He poisoned our water supply, burned our crops, and delivered a plague onto our houses!!!!!

  • TellTale did well initially, but the company is terrible at growing. They seem to be unable to expand the graphics without also expanding their story capabilities. Like, it takes more time to do the better graphics, but they can't handle scaling up the resources, so they cut back on content so they can handle the new engine. I bet the original team that worked on every game has been split up and has been turned into the leadership of multiple teams and they can't seem to translate the quality they had as an original team to their new teams.

  • What rule says you're not allowed to have a 2 hour episode?

It's part of the Ten Telltale Commandments, along with "A determinant character wilt not liveth past five minutes"

This was definitely a lie and a cash grab in EA style. 10.7 Pounds one episode? Well, here's 50 sins for you.

  • Season 1 Episode 4 was longer than even 2 hours so splitting the premiere episode in Season 3 was such a bullshit, that's a fact.

Norma: There's a fine line between being generous, and being taken advantage of. Everyone deserves a second chance, I believe that. But never a third!

    Michonne:

Norma: Most people will take advantage if you let them.

Michonne: What about that company on California? Children—whole families—deprived of their choice-based games. How many chances did they get?

Norma: No! We didn't do that. Kevin Bruner killed those employees, their customers, everyone! Then he took over. So Randall went down there, gave that CEO justice! Made sure he'd never kill again.

Norma: Choice-based games—that's what we do here!

  • I SAY...WE TIP SOMETHING OVER!

NO, BUT ARE WE JUST GOING TO WAIT AROUND UNTIL HE DOES?

  • How about a port-a-john, im always down for tipping one of those over.

    I SAY...WE TIP SOMETHING OVER!

  • Considering it took it took me less than three hours to complete both episodes, I don't feel "too big" is the right term. Realesing two episodes at once It was probably done to stop people from destroying them on Twitter after making them wait 2 years for 1 hour of gameplay if they only released one. None the less, I felt ripped off. They gave us one games' with of content and called it two.

  • I need the complete list of this.

What rule says you're not allowed to have a 2 hour episode? It's part of the Ten Telltale Commandments, along with "A determinant character wilt not liveth past five minutes"

  • I am waiting for the user who liked it due to a "faster season release."

  • That user doesn't exist.

I am waiting for the user who liked it due to a "faster season release."

  • Oh, that sucks.

I am that user, but tell nobody.

Kidding! I would have quarterly releases if it depended on me.

    That user doesn't exist.

    The truth:

    Lazy money making. $_$

Split one episode into two episodes and double the cash.

Showing the favorite character Clementine on the shop screenshots > many people buy the game > Clem has nearly no playtime and screen time.

  • B...but...the episode was tooooo big.

And the CEO want money money money.

  • Well I'm sure popular youtubers and reviewers love how short the game is. They're very busy people and it fits they're playstyle.

Makes me sick to write that cause that might be why TT don't care what us gamers want since yknow we actually pay for the damn game.

  • Yup, they fucked up on that end.
