Wait, what? When did she blame Javier and how was she responsible for Javier and his family stealing NFs pudding, gas, and candy? It also wasn't her first time in Prescott, based on her knowing where it is and Tripps dialogue when they arrive, and also because she previously traded with someone who resided there that no one seemed to like and who sold her very low quality ammo. She clearly familiar and has a distrust of both groups. Javier is more to blame for this mess, he robbed an outpost, and assaulted/killed a member.
Here's some motivation that I have for this theory.
It comes from taking an 'anti-Clem' route . Now I don't really mean it as specificall… morey being antagonistic to Clementine, but instead not following her orders all the time.
On my first, and technically only play through, I was excited that Clementine was back but then she shot Eli. This changed the way I approached the game completely. Something wasn't right about the way Clementine Blamed Javier and then her distrust for Eleanor. And the things escalated from here as the conflict with New Frontier seemed to be caused by Clementine rather than Javier. In episode 2 I am on board with Conrad's plan as my trust on Clementine has faded.
The only way I feel this route will have a consistent, satisfying arc is if Clementine, all long, has had the intent to betray the group.
In my play through Javier's only mistake is at the start when they accidentally steal supplies and then assault one of TNF. As I ran away with the family only Clementine actually kills TNF at the end of episode 1. In episode 2 Clementine arrives with TNF right behind. Surely if they were following Clementine they would know that she is the person causing the most harm to their group. I played Javier as a pacifist and TNF still blame him for killing their men when it makes much more sense to blame Clementine. This can be summed up though as bad story design.
If you tell the truth to Tripp Clementine gets annoyed at Javier as she expected Javier to have her back. I notice when you flirt with Eleanor in this play through Clementine will say "uh ... gross". I take Clementine's anger at Javier telling the truth and this line as evidence that Clementine hold's a grudge against Javier for not backing her up. This is what I meant when I said 'blamed'. Not the best word choice when I think back on it.
One other point I would like to make is how TNF never recognised Clementine even though she is an ex-member of the group.

Fair enough.
Another theory I have is Clem is manipulating you to get what she wants. Possibly destroy ANF.
In season 2 Carver mentions … morethat Clem is a shepherd, and all the rest are sheep.
And before you say a 14 year old cant manipilate people, look at the amount of players that took blame and killed Conrad.
My reasoning for why Eli starts to attack Clem is that he doesn't believe the bullets are fake, and is therefore scared for their life. Telling the truth will put you on better terms with Prescott which isn't a bad trade for Clementine's help.
Killing Conrad:
This scenario seemed ridiculous for me. There is no way your first instinct should be to shoot someone who is holding a hostage. That's the part where you surrender because they're is a high likelihood that the hostage will be killed if you don't. Shooting Conrad is not a choice to save Gabe: it is a choice to appease to Clementine. Conrad's plan doesn't seem that illogical if you believe Clementine is lying to you. I believe it is better to agree with Conrad until you can get to the group to calm him down. Unfortunately the game does not let the group really decide whether they should let Clem go or not.
The points I have made are to further conversations and aren't particularly a direct argument to your points. Trusting Clementine isn't an invalid action; this thread is discussing the idea that their actions could be deceiving.

So you meet this young girl that you specifically ask for help for, you want to find your family so you make a deal to give her your van in trade for assistance getting to the junkyard. Clementine's real motive is revenge for Telltale removing her from the role of main protagonist. Therefore, she has decided to be the unknown main antagonist. Duhh.. duh.. duh!
What? She's a kid, man. She sees kissing stuff lol. Of course she gets annoyed if the guy she takes off the road decides to play it neutral, you're literally bleeding down the side of your face and all she asked was that you believe the bullets she didn't think would fire went off by accident after Eli got pissed and attacked both of you with a knife, mind you this was while he knew a gun with his bullets were pointed at him lol.
ANF doesn't really have a clear view or any time to dialogue during the episodes. She helps cover Tripp and Javiers inept family during the escape, and then kills someone who tells Javier he's gonna be executed now or just opens fire.

I will note that Gabe, and Kate are the only ones who haven't seen Clementine kill another human being. Clem pissed of Prescott for the manslaughter of Eli. Clem has a history of betraying TNF and has killed quite a few of them in the first 2 episodes. Although, I don't think we've really seen much of Clementine's interactions with TNF; I am not sure what Max actually thinks of Clementine yet other than knowing of her.
That being said though, this is another valid point. Clementine has a painful relationship with the entire cast which could mean that Javier is the last person that Clementine can put faith in humanity in. Although this makes me sceptical as Clementine is way too on the nose about this point if you lie about Eli's death.
Bringing in AJ is another valid argument which hasn't been discussed much. I don't usually explore this as I never liked the idea of Clementine's motivations revolving around AJ. Despite this, it can be the reason why Clementine would deceive the group. For now, I can't really fit AJ into the current plot. If anyone else has any idea's for this please respond. It'll be interesting to explore.
Yeah, I don't think that Clementine is the leader of the New Frontier either. I'm of the opinion that she is manipulating some things in the… more background and is building an artificial relationship with Javier for Ulterior motives. The main thing I am opposed to is the blind trust most players have put in Clementine. When actively picking the more honest choices the game rewards in turn.
Reluctantly, I agree.
One of the things that the game is trying to make a point of is the players stance towards Clementine, both through choices and relationships. Many of the choices single this out.
But one thing that worries me more than the choices we've been given in relation to Clementine is the worlds attitude to her. Literally every character in the game has went out of their way either to state their dislike or their apathy towards Clementine, all save Gabe and determinately Javier. Oh and Kate, but that's not really strong considering sh… [view original content]
Clementine asks you to lie about Eli's actions. Telling the truth about the manslaughter actually puts Clementine is a better light to Prescott and you don't get stuck in the cage. Clementine will respond negatively in conversations though.
I thought the 'uh gross' was a funny line that was missed for most players and I just wanted give it a mention. Although, I often link this back to Clementine trying to manipulate Javier. This is a rather meaningless preference to just arbitrarily only say when your pissed at someone. This builds to the idea that Clementine is only showing Javier a fake version of herself to build trust between the two: conversely she will reveal her true self when Javier is against her plans.
TNF seem to recognise Javier just fine in most scenes. I specifically think they should of noticed Clementine off screen during the start of episode 2 if Javier went with their family. I blame Telltale's game design for this. Therefore, I will concede that it is likely that TNF never notice Clementine and just assume it's Javier.
Bringing it back to my home point: I am interested in how accusing Clementine of being deceitful will carry on in future episodes. This might be too optimistic considering this is Telltale TWD - choices don't carry that much meaning in this series.
If different branch's for your relationship were created because of this then I would assume that Clementine would still have to help Javier regardless. The only way I see Clementine doing this for someone she would despise is if she had some ulterior motive behind being close to Javier. Hence the villain theory.
What? She's a kid, man. She sees kissing stuff lol. In my playthrough, I went with Tripp because Clem says she doesnt trust Eleanor. I stayed with Clem at the Junkyard, because shes Clem.

While i dont believe telltale would do that since we do have a sense of trust with her because of seasons 1 and 2 ((not gonna say because we played as her because Bonnie was playable in 400 days and she still betrays the group in season 2)) I do think it would be something interesting to have in a new frontier.

Seriously, not sure where I've seen TC being seriously insulted for posting this, but anti-Clem fans really get some type of way when they see anyone defend her so I just try to let it go.
Lol, don't think i wasn't going to look at the thread here's some quotes from some people
"Clem be like:
"Listen up you incompetent adults!"
I guess incompetent is a compliment.
And
"What weed did you smoke when you wrote this?
And no i don't think Clem is the leader (or with) The New Frontier!"
Let's not forget to add in the picture someone put up that the OP must of been high when they made this.
All because the article suggest Clementine could be a bad person. Damn yankees.
So you're mad someone was talking about incompetent adults used in a scenario where she was leading the New Frontier? Oh and apparently weed use is now an offense sentence, who would've known. I don't think OP cared regardless, just view his reply. A bit of memeing doesn't hurt on this forum, it's a lot better than some threads.

I do agree that the implications for the OP being high were out of line. Although, to the forum in general I would like to advise that we do not just target the poster as it will derail discussions.
On another note: I gathered that the "Listen up you incompetent adults!" meme was referencing season 2's cast and how it would lead Clementine to take charge in this season. Not the actual forum.

The whole point of that comment was calling OP incompetent.
So the reference to being high is not a degrading remark now? Maybe i should get high, if it means i'll write the best threads.
You said no one insulted him, i showed you 3 examples of him being insulted, weather he cares or not is irrelevant, it just proves that a negative thread about Clementine brings out butthurt fans that only think 1 thing and that is Clementine is a golden child and anything against that is invalid. They ever heard of opinion?

Maybe thick skin is unique trait amongst damned Yankees, this dude seems really triggered at some light hearted comments or ones he misunderstands. With all due respect OP, I think this would be too simple.
I'll admit, when I read it, I bought it. It sounds like a really easy way to play the Clem bias.
I just can't shake the feeling this isn't it. The reaction she had when she heard Richmond was overrun with TNF... That was genuine shock and a 13 year old couldn't fake that. I feel like they really traumatised her at that place... or...
We saw how easily she accidentally killed Eli. Could that be foreshadowing as to why she's run from TNF?
I don't know, but I don't think she's the supervillain, above all David's ego wouldn't allow for a kid his son's age to run a camp with him..
You raise a good point that Clementine's negative attitude towards TNF could of been the cause of an accident she committed. This could raise some interesting ideas as to why Clementine doesn't want to hang around groups; maybe distancing herself from others would be the easiest way to avoid hurting others.

I took it as the person didn't agree with the post so they quoted a quote to say the OP was talking out of his ass pretty much.
I don't think I've ever seen anyone calling each other 'adults' on this forum. I do believe that they were trying to have a positive effect on the thread.
I thought they were putting the quote in not to mention the OP as an adult, more of a clever touch to say his out of his mind while using the quote.
Maybe thick skin is unique trait amongst damned Yankees, this dude seems really triggered at some light hearted comments or ones he misunderstands. I didn't see the OP really taking anything as a serious insult to him, but then I'd guess you'd have to a sense of humor not to automatically think memes are the result of butthurt fans.
EDIT: David's son's age, not his daughter's.
You raise a good point that Clementine's negative attitude towards TNF could of been the cause of an accident she committed. This could raise some interesting ideas as to why Clementine doesn't want to hang around groups; maybe distancing herself from others would be the easiest way to avoid hurting others.
