Discussion Hub for In-Game “A New Frontier”
This thread is created in light of the growing amount of talk—about the developing company, Telltale, and its recent controversial missteps—that has taken over the The Walking Dead board of the forum. The purpose of this thread is to host conversation that would soon sink through the board if it became a thread of itself. The topics to be discussed on the thread can be anything that relates to the content of the new season—characters, narrative, events, decisions, symbolism, foreshadowing, predictions, theories and soundtrack—and you propose them.
How does it work?

I think Kate should keep it in her pants. I don't look forward to her getting pregnant and then everyone dying except Clem and the baby, which forces her to take care of it herself. Sounds familiar...
She constantly keeps on hitting on Javi (or atleast shows that she's interested in him) and I find that annoying, so much.
I find it annoying too. You think my awkward silence after she said she wanted to get laid was enough for her to understand. Or the three other times I rejected her after that.
Nope, I look forward to David hating me for supposedly doin' her!
I think Kate is an okay character but she's not the most likable new character so far. Some of her decisions I don't agree with and I think she's just a plot device for Javi and David.
Gabe is also okay. I don't hate him but he can be annoying at times. I feel like h's going to indirectly cause a lot of problems, but I don't blame him.
Nope. If she had shown some build up of feeling suicidal like depression than it would of been in character. But all through season 2 she was about survival and not giving up so fast. Definitely a let down from telltale.
He deserved a better death considering he's been here since season 1. His death was plausible though as I can see it happening anytime whether we knew him or not. He was always sort of reckless and didn't really think before doing things so I think it was in character. Just for that particular scene, he should've gone out better.
So far the music is alright. I think it matches with what's going on but then again I don't always pay attention to the music.
I killed him as I felt he was going to die anyway. I think Conrad is sort of unstable so it's not good to have him in the group. If killing him does have an impact in later choices then I will probably restart.
I think Ava is an ally. She was pretty cool when we met her and didn't seem forceful or anything. Clem did say they had good people in the New Frontier and I think she is one of them.
Personally, I like her a lot and it's hard for me to see her in the New Frontier. I don't fully trust her just because we don't know her that well but I'm hoping she's just a nice person who's in our group. I can see her being a former member though, but It's hard for me to believe she still is considering the situation.
Alvin is probably with the New Frontier. We will probably see him or save him at some point.
I'm wondering what conversation will go down with Javi and David when he asks about Marianna. David might kill Badger since he was the one who shot her.
Can't wait to see the failed edgy-ness.
I wonder if Clementine and David will recognize each other or have any sort of interaction, since Clem was a member of the New Frontier for a short time.
How would that be an attempt at being edgy?
Could a return of a Season 1 character help this season?

Christa (like tf happened to you)
Oh come on, you know, to show the players how scary David is by brutally killing Badger, but we all know how those scenarios work right about now.

I think its setting up something great tbh, we've never had this situation in which an underling of a "villain" if David is one, is actually united against by both hero and villain. Especially with them being brothers. I'm hoping for Javier to get the option to kill/punish Badger instead of or with David
This is a weird thread. What does this do that the entire section does not already do? Or are you positioning yourself to be a mod by creating a long-winded thread in the same formatting they use?
I thought I was the only who was bothered by it...
Personally, I'm hoping we could get a sort of hub area in the 'New Frontier' that could be shared for the rest of the episodes and the rest be focused on The New Frontier community as well as the possibility of Javier possibly coming into his own as a leader. No idea if this will happen or if not, how well it will be handled since I feel Telltale's never really done a proper hub area.
Maybe OP just wanted to use a recognized format that usually depicts a "general" thread.

Her flirting with Javier is irresponsible. Her drug-taking is irresponsible. Her decision to run to an already dead Mariana was irresponsible.

Stereotypical teen. Shame, because when he was younger and asked why David and Javier were fighting, I thought that this was a kid who would grow up to be rational, calm and inquisitive. Instead, he flips out and constantly whines. I mean, I went through puberty too, but holy shit, nobody is THAT bad.
I dislike him at the moment, but I realize he's a character who's going to grow, if given the chance by Telltale.
I would say... yes, yes it was - Jane was always unpredictable and selfish. People generally hate the suicide scene, but I just see it as 'meh'. I think it suited her character, but it certainly isn't fair to those who assumed that their past choice to keep her alive would mean something.
My problem with the death stems from disappointment. I was one of those who chose to stick with Kenny, but I can't say I didn't see this coming. He died doing something heroic, but it just felt... I don't know... artificial. There was no feeling to it, it just sort of happened.
The fact that I haven't noticed the music is probably a sign that it's good enough.

If I were to guess, I'd say ally. She seemed overly curious in the shack, but I think they were genuine attempts at making conversation.
Honestly, I don't like her one bit. Way too nice, vanishes from Kate... definite trouble ahead.
If she is with the NF, she may play one of those roles similar to what Bonnie played in Season 2. Perhaps she might be Badger's bitch, who knows.

I've noticed countless threads—ever since December 20th—that drop through the board without a single comment, down to the second page, then the third, and so on. They are doomed to remain unanswered by that point. I am sure that the thread creators aren't pleased with the amount of attention that the topic or question they suggest receives.
This thread can be a solution to that. When somebody creates a new post here, they do not need to worry about their content sailing down the board unseen; there will be other people who come, and some of them will be interested in that topic as well.
A solution to that would have been to introduce a decision in "Ties That Bind - Part One" in which the player can either flirt with her or tell her that they don't want their relationship to go any further.
Instead, we got to shoot an innocent truck driver in a decision that adds ten seconds of variation plus some dialogue change to each player's game.

No worries! I wonder if Clem and David used to be friends as well, but then maybe he did something bad that Clem didn't like. Considering he's the leader and Clem said, "They used to be good people", that could probably be referring to David as well as the other members (Maybe Ava as well)!
Most of the comments here have one or two replies, which is about the same about that they'd get on their thread if it did quickly move away
Now if David tries killing badger but isn't successful which leads to the fall of David as a leader, that would be interesting. We once had an advantage because we knew the leader, but now badger somehow takes over so everything flip flops. Haven't seen that before.
Just about the only OC from ANF that I'm invested in. Wish she'd stop trying to ride Javi's dick though.
Mixed at best. I really hope he improves, but the way his arc is going... Even if it pays off, it just seems like it's going to be so predictable and boring in addition to my dislike of the actual character. I cared about Sarah in S2 more at this point, and I'm not even a massive fan of Sarah.
Honestly, yes. I think so. What I do think is out of character is the fact that she committed suicide via hanging. Could she really just not have shot herself? Did we really need an alternate method of death for dramatic effect or what?
Well it's anticlimactic. And considering some of the other endings we can have to his character (Shooting him, leaving at Wellington) this is probably one of the crappier ones. As far as a 'character arc' I feel Kenny's was done anyway and he was just along for the ride. The death stayed true to the character, albeit in a really bad way.
What music? You mean all of... Eight tracks that were produced across two episodes and the recycling of previous tracks?

Maybe now that she's in the gates, but when she was back at Prescott, no I don't think she's a 'spy' or 'traitor' or runaway or whatever.
It would give a new dynamic to the small scene we had of Clementine and Eleanor interacting though. Maybe Eleanor helped Clementine escape The New Frontier and Clementine reluctantly accepted since they don't like each other because of something? That could be interesting to explore if true.
Either at Richmond or with the people who used to live at Richmond. I'm almost certain that Episode 3 is going to revolve around Clementine trying to find him or the people who had him.

Hmm...If there is one thing I wish A New Frontier had is a better soundtrack. People can say what they want about Season 2 and Michonne, but at least they too have memorable songs.
I haven't heard something that catches my attention yet.
I'm not really sure where to put this, since I don't think it warrants it's own thread, so Ima just use it as an excuse to bump this thread back to life.
Flimsii, a guy who made a number of comedic videos on TWD and largely responsible for the 'Kenny confirmed for Season 2' meme as well as his own critique of the second season (amongst other things), briefly touched upon ANF for about 2 minutes in one of his recent videos (starting at 9:55):
He seems to repeat a lot of the opinions that have been echoed on the forum for a while: (unnecessary deaths, exhausting pace, episode lengths etc) while maintaining that it is a slight improvement over the second season and that Javier does seem like an interesting character until plot kicks in.
