Lol....burn the ash wood...soak the ashes into water...skim the lye off the top...mix it with sunflower oil or animal fat...add herbs of your choice...mint is nice....poor it into a glass or other container...soap! Eh missing some steps...but there are books.
The Last of Us has this problem too. 20+ years into the apoc and they're still driving cars. Which is odd since that game usually takes every detail into consideration to make it as realistic as possible.
How is it that gasoline still works four years into the apocalypse? Gasoline lasts 3-5 months but if it's left unmaintained or unused, it's … moretotally useless. Even if you had a fuel stabilizer, that would only buy you an extra 6-8 months. Is someone running some sort of gasoline manufacturing plant and everyone in the apocalypse is a customer there? This never made sense to me in the game, the comic, and the show.
I guess I can kind of forgive it in both The Last of Us and Walking Dead since I do stand by the fact that sometimes you have to sacrifice a little realism for the sake of telling a story, but it's still worth addressing in my opinion.

Even if you scratch yourself a bit it's likely you'll get infected if you don't use medicine.
Huh? I have gotten lots of cuts many times that I never treated and it never got infected. I also get sick a lot, i get better without medicine. I'm in the rain all the time I don't ever get colds.
How are people dealing with infected wounds and such ?
Even if you scratch yourself a bit it's likely you'll get infected if you don't use … moremedicine. In the apocalypse you would think they don't always have the necessary stuff to deal with that and they can cut / scratch themselves or step onto a rusty nail or something.
Or another thing would be the environment: most people don't have shelter, they have to walk in the rain, at night; in these conditions you can catch a cold pretty easily and without proper medicine you could even die, or in extreme situations you could get hypothermia, hell Clementine falls into a river at night and she's just shivering a bit.
There's more such things but I'm kinda lazy to think about more
Why aren't people brushing and flossing their teeth? I know it sounds super dumb, but there are no dentist in the ZA. If one develops a root canal problem or a infected tooth those can be life threatening or living with serious pain.
How do women deal with menstruation? Do they constantly go on scavanges searching for tampons?
How do people prevent pregnancy?
How do… more they always find new clothes that fit?
Do people bath? If so, where and how often?
How does a baby survives days without food in a cold environment?
How come people never get infected from regular wounds?
Where do people find medicine 4 years into the Apocalypse?
Where do Alexandria and Hilltop get the resources needed to manufacture weapons and bullets?
And the most important question of all:
How did Clem's hat stay in her head after she fell in that stream?
Well it also depends on how poor your eyesight is. I wear glasses and while it would be inconvenient I could definitely survive, I wouldnt b… moree crawling around blind if that's what you're thinking. I just wouldn't be able to see faces or road signs from afar very easily.
I'm talking about how they can scratch themselves in a fence or the frame of a window, these things are full of microbes you could get easily infected
I don't know about your way of being sick but once I got a cold and I was at my father's place, in the countryside, he didn't have anything for a cold so my temperature rose over the night to 41,5 degrees (Celsius), luckily my uncle worked on the ambulance so he got there as fast as he could, they told me that If I waited a little more time I would have gotten into a coma.

Uhhh...I think OP means getting infected with the disease that turns you into a walker. Ben said in Episode 2 everyone is infected and you either turn by a bite or till you are dead. I imagine turning by the bite is because the disease reaches the blood, so isn't having a little cut results in you turning into a walker....because ya know air transmits the disease into the blood from the cut and stuff?
I dunno, that probably didn't make sense and I am making up stuff xD

I think the fact that walkers are attracted to the smell of fresh blood, and women bleed for a week a month, is a very overlooked complication of living in the zombie apocalypse. And i think it would come up more often than portrayed.
I mean it's not like tampons are exactly easy to come by, and i've never heard the 'problem' mentioned in any of the games or shows. (Aside from Kate's vague, ' yeah, bleeding sucks more than hard-on's do Javi. Hands down.')

I've jumped a car that has been sitting for a year and drove it home. I think the stale gas thing is only for small engines like mix fuel. But even then if my mix fuel has "expired" I dump it into the truck without any problems. Also a lot of the cars we see in the game and comics are clearly older cars. One reason for this would be that they run on carbs not fuel injection so it wouldn't get as dirty.

Well one assumes they would plant the control rods in deep and initiate shutdown protocols...sorta a failsafe the plant would do without input for a given time.
For the period thing, I always assumed that there would be such poor / unbalanced / inadequate nutrition, that women would not physically be able to menstruate.
But Jane got pregnant and so presumely had a normal menstruation so that theory probably isn't right.
Do young kids learn how to read and write? Surely it'd be hard to find a lot of reading material in the ZA. At most, I could see them learning letters with sticks in the dirt and being able to write basic words.

It doesn't matter if it goes into your blood, you are already infected, the bite from the walkers just kill you by making you very sick and then the disease takes care of the transformation part after you're dead.
To put it simple: the walker bite doesn't have the disease, it just kills you, you are already infected with the disease, everyone is.

What about the nuclear plants? Those are ticking time-bombs.
"They got 10 days until the radioactive fuel rods at every nuclear power plant in the world evaporate the water from their cooling pools and start belching out massive clouds of prolonged radioactive death.", and all those underground pipes, gas lines.
Would be interesting if we got some survivors over there, keeping things cool until certain group of people arrive and maybe screw things up.

I dunno, if i need to be careful of bears and other wild animals while i'm camping or hiking through the woods during that time of the month IRL - im sure that it would become a factor.
Especially when keeping clean is not as simple as hopping in the shower and rags are all you have for pads.
We actually haven't had a concrete example of walkers identifying the presence of humans solely due to the smell of blood, which leads me to think that walkers have a very weak sense of smell.

Walkers has a strong sense of smell. They mainly use it to identify people, thus why rubbing yourself in walker guts works. Thats how the group got out of Howe's, by taking advantage of walkers using their smell.
They mostly rely on smell and hearing.

I bet those little disposable little dry toothbrush things would become a hot commodity in the apocalypse lol. Fresh breath and clean teeth would become a sign of wealth and status. :P
Well people didn't use to brush teeth not all that long ago, relatively speaking, its fairly recent, especially floss and toothpaste
Teeth would be more likely to get infected etc but that's just what life used to be
That would actually be interesting. A survivor with bad sight that only survived because they has help, and now they're all alone and have to learn how to take care of themselves.
Do people in this universe wash they ass? Is there such a thing as deodorant? Cause I'd imagine characters like Kenny, Larry, Katjaa, Chuck, Nick, Nate, Jane, and Norma would smell like the Bog of Eternal Stench. Jane in particular is guilty of that.
How did Clementine survive in her treehouse alone for days? And where did she poo while she was up there?
Also, excuse if this ones a bit off topic but I may as well ask while I'm here.. Brie was killed in Crawford. How did she then turn up again as a Walker in their Savannah safehouse? Especially as there was a big wall built around Crawford to keep Walkers out..?

No logic here. It was supposed to hurt your feelings or something. "Oh no, it's that poor lady who was a bitch, but nevermind, she turned and it's sad".

Holy shit, I never really thought about that! Granted, I recall somewhere that recently turned walkers are smarter than others to the point of being able to solve very basic problems , but still!

To be fair, she had a reason to be that way, considering their situation and what Lee is capable of. Heck, I'd even argue she was more justified than Rebecca.

What about periods? I mean that would be a constant need for about half of the population and self care supplies would be in high demand.

The radiation will kill all survivors before any zombies do.

The fact that Kate and Javy kissed after not brushing their teeth for, what, months? Yuck.
You know tampons and pads are relatively new where as women have been bleeding out their cootch for millenia?
I imagine they would use wadded up cloth as makeshift pads.

I mean, put some toilet paper or cloth there. It's not like a tampon is the only thing that works.
You don't.
All condoms are expired and plan B pills probably are, too.
I'm sure lots of people left clothes behind in their houses.
They shouldn't. They only did in the game for plot purposes.
Funfact: it actually was going to fall off. Clementine would have woken without it. When she finds Sam, he was supposed to have it.
I would be one of those people crawling around
I'm talking about how they can scratch themselves in a fence or the frame of a window, these things are full of microbes you could get easily infected

I guess im behind the curve. Thescottishindian beat me to it
This is obvious but how do they eat
I mean of course they hunt and stuff but are we really supposed to believe these people are out here eating roasted squirrel

I guess fire could.

Well, it's true that walkers can smell fresh blood, but I doubt that a woman on her period would turn into a zombie magnet.
