I loved that she called him goofball, it was sweet and shows how protective she is of him. Regardless of what some may think of AJ, there's no doubt that Clem cares about him a lot, so I don't see a problem with it.
It wasnt really cringy, I think in Jane's when she keeps saying "Goofball look at you goofball can you say goofball goofball?" was a little cringy though. I also think its really weird how she says goofball in every flashback thought except for the alone one.
I do think is a bit cringy...
Lee called Clem sweet pea in EP3... there was build-up to their relationship.
Clem calls Aj goofball in … morea unnecessary flashback we just jumped into (she could've told her tales via dialogue, but nope).
It just feels forced to me, that's all...
I admit, I found it cringey at first. I'm kind of over it now since there's bigger things to complain about other than a stupid nickname that a kid gave to another kid.
Still don't appreciate TellTale trying to make AJ endearing to me by having Clem form an attachment with him, though.

[It's not play time.] "This isn't a game, goofball. Play time comes after we eat."
I didn't think it was cringey at all, I love that Clem gave AJ a nickname, it was sweet and showed how protective she is of him, I love how much Clem cares about AJ and wants to protect him. I hope we find out what happened to AJ soon.
Yeah... we didn't saw that. That's why it makes me feel weird when Clem forcefully/by no choice calls AJ that.
Kinda like how they are expecting people to care about new characters because of their roles.
I didn't think it was cringy, but I did find it out of character for Season 2 previously portrayed her as being hardened and cynical. I think that was something she either would have done in Season 1, or something she would have done in an alternate version of Season 2 where she did not become so hardened.

How do I interpret this?
Lee call Clem sweet pea
Clem call AJ goofball
I must be the one person who didn't find "goofball" cringe-worthy.
Well screw you, buddy, I thought it was pretty cute when she did that
Meh, I call my niece that all the time, didn't seem too out of place.
I thought it was cute.
It was cute alright.

Goofball name Its cute , you goofball
I adore Clem calling AJ goofball.
Yeah, aren't terms of endearment just so so cringeworthy?
Come on, now.
Maybe Javier would call him baseball..
I don't even know what it means
Well, fuck you (Sarcasm). I like how she calls him.
I really hope he wouldn't take that name literally.
I love it. It's adorable. He's my little goofball. ^_^
It also feels fitting since AJ seems a bit goofy to me. (In a good way!)
I think its cute that she gave him a pet name. Is this more anti-A.J. sentiment?
He hits them really far.

I like that she calls him Goofball.
I don't like that she overdoes it in some scenes (cough)janeflashback(cough).
I thought it was alright, given the timeskip it seems right shed give him a nickname
They also built a relationship over years. We just didnt see it.

This makes me wonder wtf did Rebecca call alvin big ball ._.
I have seen comments before where people didn't like Clem saying "goofball" but i didn't have a problem with it and didn't think it was cringy.
Most likely.
Probably to show how serious and desperate she is when she's on her own.
I think she called him Silly Bear or something.
She says it in one of the dialogue options I think.
[It's not play time.] "This isn't a game, goofball. Play time comes after we eat."
Damn.
Why does Telltale want to call Aj goofball so bad?
Because it's endearing.
Because since Clem loves AJ, we love AJ as well.
Don't you want to love loveable ol' Goofball?
DON'T YOU?

I like it as well. I find it a bit cute.
It's not forced. It's a choice made by the character, the way Lee chose to call Clem Sweet pea in the three months we didnt see them together.

She didn't seem that hardened in season 2 to me. Sure you could play her that way, but she can also be playful, hopeful, etc...
