  • Hmm...you know what, I don't think any of my scenarios has him explicitly without his glasses. I might consider brainstorming that.

Yeah, if he looses his glasses or something.

  • TMI, but I personally use toilet paper. I have very light, short periods.

What about periods? I mean that would be a constant need for about half of the population and self care supplies would be in high demand.

  • ... didn't that happen in the AMC show?

This is obvious but how do they eat I mean of course they hunt and stuff but are we really supposed to believe these people are out here eating roasted squirrel

  • The only post-apocalyptic media I've ever seen deal with that is Z-Nation... it's actually really cool the way they do it.

  • It's a small thing, but how were those AA batteries still good after 4 years? I mean, I had a pack of AAs I never opened and forgot about them and when I found them again after about a year they were all leaky and nasty and definitely not usable. Maybe it's different for rechargeable batteries? IDK.

  • On this board?

The biggest overlooked issue is the age where one starts having kids.

We have so many jackasses, who are so uptight about sex, they don't get that people should be having kids(and sex) at a much younger age. 200 years ago a 13 year old would have been a mother already. Life expectancy and infant mortality were so low that we, as a species, needed to pump out kids as soon, and as quickly as possible. But america is so uptight about sexuaity that the idea of having sex so "young" is seen as offensive rather than natural as it should be for a society in which life expectancy is low and infant mortality is high.

That's partly because more 13 year olds are incapable of supporting themselves, let alone a baby they personally had.

  • I was also under the impression that this 13 year old mother thing was a misconception.
I wouldn't know for sure, because I haven't looked up child brides on google any time recent;ly

  • No.

In Ancient Rome, it was very common for girls to marry and have children shortly after the onset of puberty. Roman law required brides to be at least 12 years old. In Roman law, first marriages to brides from 12 to 24 required the consent of the bride and her father; by the late antique period, Roman law permitted women over 25 to marry without parental consent. The Catholic canon law followed the Roman law. In the 12th century, the Catholic Church drastically changed legal standards for marital consent by allowing daughters over 12 and sons over 14 to marry without their parents' approval, even if their marriage was made clandestinely. Parish studies have confirmed that late medieval women did sometimes marry without their parents' approval.

  • Vision will be impaired, but your eyes will adapt as best as they can. I had to go without glasses for a year, and after a while things became easier that once I got my new glasses I had forgotten just how different my vision actually was.

That would actually be interesting. A survivor with bad sight that only survived because they has help, and now they're all alone and have to learn how to take care of themselves.
