It's worth noting that a lot of the players didn't take Clementine with them in Episode 2. Therefore, we don't really know Clementine's involvement in Episode 3, but we know she'll reappear in Episode 4. For all we know, it could just be if you take Clementine with you, since your brother runs/is a high rank in ANF, she's let go of as she helped David's family.
If Clementine is only present in a couple of scenes then yeah the VO can be mostly left to the end (a few weeks before) once the script is finalised. VO can be left last minute without a huge impact I'd say.
For most people, since they let Clementine go, I don't think she'll be present in Episode 3 aside from perhaps a flashback. Maybe present in late Episode 3? It's worth considering when talking about episode release dates and how TTG's schedule is running.
This is true, but the overwhelming majority didn't take her because that option was to take her as a hostage to turn over to the established enemy. This option was presented to players in a way that puts them at odds with Javiers family, and the results were very one sided. Cutting her out of an entire episode or minimalizing her appearance in one because the fan base is so devoted to defending her seems like a really bad move.
Hopefully Episode 3 is being rewritten after Telltale's writers ignored years of fans wanting to play as Clementine in favour of their Artistic Integrity.
The executives would have insisted on Clem being the playable character to make money. So they need to override the writers more often.
I think the problem is that the writers don't have time to actually, you know, write.
Think of it this way: let's say you have a really g… morereat artist. Guy needs some time to make a piece, but when he finishes, it's pretty damn good.
Now let's say that guy gets hired, goes to work at a company. They ask him to make a very specific painting. So the guy works on it, day in day off, for quite a while. Then, about 2 days from the deadline, someone comes in and tells him "yeah, actually, we're gonna need you to change that to this instead"
So now the artist has about 2 days to pretty much do this painting over from scratch. Can he still make a relatively good painting? Probably, but with only 2 days on the clock, he's gonna have to cut corners. He won't be able to finalize all the details. He won't be able to think it all through. And in the end, the painting just ends up being a shadow of what it could've been if he wasn't forced to re-do … [view original content]
Exactly. I know people are quick to blame the writers for the problems with ANF, and while I don't think they are entirely blameless, I think most of the problems lie with the upper management of Telltale. As J-Master pointed out in another thread, the Glassdoor reviews of Telltale are pretty scathing, especially in regards to Kevin Bruner as CEO and how the company operates, but they give out huge amounts of praise to the writers, designers, artists, and others, calling them hard working, talented people. It took someone like Leonardo Da Vinci four years to paint the Mona Lisa, if he was told to rush it, or was given a much stricter deadline, or had someone constantly hanging over his shoulders telling him to do this or that differently, even someone as talented as him would not have been able to make it that good. Things need to change in the management style of Telltale, they need to give these teams more freedom and not micromanage everything.

Sorry to bump this thread again but Mel just commented about the interview:

I'm guessing she's trying to stay neutral for the sake of everyone, but I'm sure she meant what she said in that interview. I don't think she liked what they did with the flashbacks and cutting out so much potential stuff.

Not gonna lie she seemed pretty salty in that interview, she probably realized how annoyed she acted and wanted to apologize, but now people are going to some how blame telltale for all of this. Cool

She didn't say that about the interview itself, she said that about what someone was saying she said. Someone on reddit poorly summarized the interview, putting their own words into it, making it out of context.

Hey Brett lol, I think she what she said in the interview was more about her talking about the changes in anf that she noticed when playing. I mean the flashback she obviously didn't like, that we know lol
Seriously? (I'm not being snippy, seriously surprised people didn't know this.) This has been known since Season 1. And she's not African, she is African American and Asian = Balasian.

Like Nick in S2 EP3, if he survived.

Actually it's The Wolf Among Us.

I was kinda kissing her ass with my replies, but I love her and she's only doing what the writers tell her to do, and she's the best thing about ANF

I absolutely agree. She also sounded very unsure in the actual interview about where the season was going.

Because Telltale wants her to give endless praises of the game, when most likely she agrees with us.
