We don't know what actually happened that would make her not want to be seen. It could be a ploy for her to hide herself, me personally, if she did something wrong, it's best to face it, rather then run away and hide.

Conrad came out whiny and trigger happy to me. The guy had enough of life and didn't want to live anyway. I wasn't really looking to be on his good side any time. I always minus out characters like that. I also wanted didn't give a crap about Javier's brother who I just met because he punched Javier and was a jerk.
