Different ways our Season 1&2 playthroughs could still affect Season 3
1.) Clementine's combat style changes based on who/where she ended up with
2.) She has a heart-to-heart conversation with Javier about what happened to her between the ending of Season 2 to when she meets Javier
3.) Have Clem treat Javier and company differently depending on how much violence she saw. (Watching Carver die, Falling in the ice, witnessing Larry's death or not, etc.)
4.) Bringing back Lilly/Molly/Christa and having them treat you differently based on what you did as Lee.
5.) ANYTHING

Agreed. Make something from Season 1 count
The death choices weren't even in the generator though lol.
Carver choice was not in the story generator despite Telltale saying it would affect this season. In fact, the story generator is severely lacking in important past choices.
They don't have to be in the story generator. You can either continue your story or "start new story." If you continue and import your save, ALL your choices are carrying over. Who knows what will affect A New Frontier
I thought the same thing. I even went out of my way to delete my season 3 save and buy season 1 and 2 just to get 100% accuracy. Turned out that clem is cold no matter what. Episode 3 better fix that.

They definitely need to be on the story generator for the countless fans who played s1 and s2 on a different platform. Otherwise their past decisions wont matter for shit or they will be given a random and possibly incorrect choice.
The episode 1 flashback should be a nightmare.
That's exactly how I think it works. I think every cluster has a determined set of choices and depending on the cluster the player gets they will be assigned to those choices. This will inevitably create inaccurate choice assignment which makes this whole complex system stupid. Having us simply customize all our choices from previous seasons would've been a way more lengthy process, sure, but at least it would be accurate.
Having each cluster's choice list revealed to the public would most certainly help matters, but I guess the players who used the generator will have to rely on Telltale's data study accuracy.
Yeah it would have been a lot more logical and efficient (yet less floofy and stylistic) to just have a questionnaire of all the choices that would affect Clem:
Sadly the story generator was released as it is so Telltale have backed themselves into a corner. They cant exactly revamp the story generator and make players replay the first two episodes, so they're going to have to figure out a way for this short sighted system to work somehow.
