Ok so it's been 4 years into the apocolypse with limited resources. How in the world are these people's teeth immaculate and perfectly straight?
I've always wondered this. It's probably a thing I should just let slide but I'm curious.
Maybe it's because they wouldn't have abundant amounts of junk food like we do? I have no idea.

Lack of Junk food and Pop would make a good excuse for why teeth are not breaking or falling out. But no ones teeth should be white.
Also everyone should be covered in lice by this point as well.

It takes years of abuse for teeth to go bad. Animals have poor dental hygiene and they keep teeth. As long as they don't get scurvy I think they would be all right. Issues might arise trying to pull wisdom teeth perhaps and the kids wouldn't be able to get braces. But once your teeth are straight they stay that way I think.

To be fair, i'm suprised Javi wanted to bang Kate considering they probably haven't showered in a good while and are constantly in a stuffy RV.

By that logic, I should find myself a girl who never shaves/waxes, brushes her teeth, has absolutely no personal hygiene whatsoever and i'll do the same. We'll be perfectly happy together and we'll get used to the stomach churning smell after a few years i'm sure.

I never said anything about never having sex nor did I say it was limited to a lack of toothpaste, I implied that one would most likely reach their tolerence threshold of how much the other person smelt due to bodily odour or halitosis.
And c'mon dude get real, i'm sure people are still quite capable of enjoying sex up to a certain point after the last shower or teeth brushing session... but if you honestly expect people to not limit their snogging sessions until their hygiene is kept at a certain standard then your standards are shockingly low.
This was all in good lighthearted fun btw, i'm not trying to come across as insulting or implying I have higher standards in any way.
I thought we we're talking about being four years into the apocalypse brosephus there isn't gonna be a shower for a long time. Its nice to be clean I love it. But do you think a lover's kiss is any more amorous in a first world country then it is in the dirtiest slum of any third world country?
Look...no showers does not mean no personal hygiene at all.
First of all, in developing countries (no longer termed as third world countries) people still wash themselves in lakes or rivers. They're not savages that don't understand the basic concept of keeping themselves clean to ward off infection and a plethora of potential diseases.
And yeah, sure, there are those few unfortunate souls that aren't near any river, lake or pond and require all the water they receive to be used as drinking water with none to spare, but since birth that's how it's been. That's the norm for them but as awful as it may sound for others like us who are used to the privileges such as a shower or bath, warm disposable water, shampoo, shower gel etc. We will find it extremely difficult to adapt to those conditions. Yes you can claim that some people can adapt but not everyone.
So please don't take this the wrong way, people still have sex and kiss etc. in places such as slums as you described but that's simply because they have not experienced life any other way and are just used to it.
Sex is a perfectly natural thing and nothing should prevent you from having it with the one you love if you're both consenting adults. But our society has planted subconscious limits on who we should be having it with, under what conditions we should be doing it and what is appropriate or not.
It's sad really, how much the media and the opinions of the wider public affect how some of us perceive the sexual world in terms of homosexuality, sometimes interracial sex, sex with somebody of a much older age etc. Sex is sex and love is love.
Pizza I really don't know how to respond to this. Half of it totally agrees with what I have been saying the entire time. The other half is almost a rant about sexuality which isn't at all what we have been talking about. I thought we were having light hearted fun and almost edited my post to say that but you beat me to the punch. can I call you Pizza?

Actually, I don't know where you're from but I actually had to go to sleep last night when we were having this conversation because it was like 12 at night so I apologise for responding so late.
But after having slept on it I actually had a change of heart, and now I totally agree with you...sure the thought of having sex with someone who hasn't showered in a while is gross to me but if you cared enough about that person and their needs and your needs, then you probably wouldn't care what type of condition they were in. Thanks for the nice convo btw, really interesting topic and I am aware that I basically contradicted myself in my last comment to agree with you somewhat so I'm an idiot for that...and the fact that half of what I said swayed away from the conversation we were actually having.

Yeah after sleeping on it I totally agree, I was very tired last night (and grumpy) when I was discussing it so I may have let that cloud my decision making.

Ehh.. teeth don't move, break or fall out randomly after a few years without a visit at the dentist. And most of the sugar-heavy food should be gone after 4 years as well.
Only the color should be affected, depending on how healthy your diet is, since toothpaste should be a rare and not-so-important thing in a brutal, post-apocalyptic world.
