Space Walkers - A Walking Dead Fan Fiction (Sneak Peak)
So this is a new fan fiction that I’m writing. This story will take the whole world of The Walking Dead and put it into a place that it has never been before.
Space.
Now you guys might say that this is a crazy and stupid idea and it very well may be. But I think it would create a different and exciting feel to The Walking Dead and it would be unlike any other fan fiction out there. (Unless someone else has done a Walking Dead Fan Fiction in space). The whole focus will be about humans trying to survive against walkers in their spaceship. I’m currently working on the story but I wanted to share a few details and a sneak peak of it to see what you guys thought of it.
Here is the list of our heroes:
Commander: Lyall
Flight engineer: Dominick (A.K.A Dom)
Payload commander: Eduardo
USAF member: Kostas
Cedrick (Cybernetic organism with living tissue)
Flight engineer: Rolf
Flight specialist: Elwynn
USAF member: Lynn
Pilot: Sterling
Mission specialist: Darius

It is a spaceship way beyond its time. Aurora had a secret mission, to go to Mars. Nobody knew about it except the people on the ship and NASA. Their mission was the first attempt of humans to get to Mars. They didn't make it. NASA ordered them to abandon the mission and instead, stay in Mars's orbit for ten years.
Here is a sneak peak of the first part of my Walking Dead Fan Fiction, Space Walkers:
Space.
It’s so beautiful, yet so terrifying.
The stars, shining bright. The planets, dancing in circles. The galaxy’s, drifting slowly. The universe, infinitely expanding, never reaching an end.
What a beautiful sight. But looks can be deceiving.
Space is very dangerous. There’s no oxygen for you to breath, if you get lost you can’t yell for help, the temperature is negative four hundred fifty-five degrees Fahrenheit, and black holes can suck you into a place where light can’t even escape. You’d be split into pieces and be swallowed in complete darkness. There are lot’s of dangers in space, But there’s a danger that’s not in space. At least, not yet...
In this story, we look at a group of people in space. Their names are as follows:
Lyall, Dominick, Eduardo, Kostas, Cedrick, Rolf, Elwynn, Darius, Sterling, and Lynn.
They are in their spaceship, Aurora, traveling back to their beautiful home planet, Earth. But they don’t know that what was once a breathtaking planet, now was a life taking planet. It was overrun by an evil far greater than anyone could’ve ever imagined. It was like a dangerous virus, taking lives one by one until all were killed. What was the evils name?
They were Walker's.
They killed people and took over the world. They would grab you, bite you, and kill you. They would rip out your stomach and your guts. After that, you would eventually turn into one of them. You would do the same thing they did. Kill, then recruit. There was no stopping them. They eventually killed everyone on Earth and they took over.
Over seven billion people died. But there were still humans left.
And they are headed straight towards them.
The occupants of Aurora are in hypersleep, a sleep that lets you skip months, years, even decades if needed. Our heroes have been sleeping for over ten years. And their journey is about to begin...
Suddenly the shield covering Lyall opens up. Aurora’s light turns on and the whole ship is awoken. Suddenly Lyall wakes up from hypersleep. He looks around and sees Cedrick looking at him.
“Hello there Commander Lyall. How was your sleep?” Cedrick asked.
“It was fine Cedrick. How long have I slept?” Lyall asked.
“Ten years, five months, two weeks, five days, three hours, twenty-six minutes, and thirty-nine seconds.” Cedrick answered.
“You could’ve just said the years.” Lyall said.
“I’m sorry sir. Ten years is how long you’ve slept.” Cedrick corrected.
“I thought we were going to Mars? I thought we were supposed to go back to Earth in five years, what happened?” Lyall asked.
“NASA ordered me to abandon the mission and instead, keep Aurora in Mars’s orbit for ten years.” Cedrick answered.
“Why?” Lyall asked.
“They didn’t tell me anything, sir. They just said something classified has happened back on Earth and they told me to let Aurora stay in Mars’s orbit for at least ten years.” Cedrick answered.
“What happened?” Lyall asked.
“I told you already sir. They said it was classified.” Cedrick answered.
Lyall gets up and looks Cedrick in the eyes. He can see the wires of Cedrick through his eyes.
“Cedrick, why is it classified? Why are they not telling us what’s going on?” Lyall asked.
“I don’t know sir. I’m only telling you what they told me. But they did title the classification as something quite interesting.” Cedrick answered.
“What did they call it?” Lyall asked.
“They called it Walker's.” Cedrick answered.
“Walker's? What does that mean?” Lyall asked.
“I don’t know sir. That’s just what they classified it as.” Cedrick answered.
“This is such a mess. How much longer until we get to Earth?” Lyall asked.
“Two hours, twenty-three minutes, and twenty-five seconds.” Cedrick answered.
“You could’ve just said the hours.” Lyall said.
“I’m sorry sir. Two hours is roughly the time.” Cedrick corrected.
“Thank you, Cedrick. Now can you wake up everyone else?” Lyall asked.
“Yes sir, of course.” Cedrick answered.
Cedrick walks over to a control panel in the middle of the room. Cedrick starts pressing buttons and Lyall walks to a window. He looks out the window and sees stars shining in the deep vacuum of space. In the distance, he sees the moon, with it’s big craters.
“Magnificent, isn’t it?” Cedrick asked.
“Very.” Lyall answered.
Lyall turns around and looks away from the window. He sees that all the shields covering the members of Aurora were opening up. Everyone wakes up and sees that Lyall is already awake and standing.
“Hey Lyall, what are you doing standing up while all of us are still sleepin’?” Dominick asked.
“Had to take care of some stuff, don’t worry about it.” Lyall answered.
Everyone get’s out of their pods and stands in front of Lyall.
"I thought we were going to Mars. Why aren't we there yet?" Dominick asked.
“Cedrick, tell them.” Lyall said.
Cedrick walks towards everyone and looks at them.
“Well as I already informed Commander Lyall, Nasa ordered me to keep Aurora in Mars’s orbit for ten years. They didn’t tell me why.” Cedrick answered.
Everyone groans.
“This is bullshit! Why would they do that? I thought we were going to Mars!” Darius yelled.
“I’m sorry Darius. But we’re going back to Earth. We'll get there in two hours and you can yell at them all you want.” Cedrick replied.
Lyall puts his hand on Darius’s shoulder.
“Hey, it’ll be alright man.” Lyall reassured.
Lyall walks over to Cedrick.
“Thank you, Cedrick. Now listen everyone. We’re gonna arrive to Earth shortly. When we get there we’ll get to the bottom of this. For now, let’s all have a nice meal. I haven’t eaten in ten years.” Lyall said.
Everyone laughs.
“You know, a meal sure sounds good right now.” Lynn replied.
“Alright good. Now everyone put on your jackets and let’s eat.” Lyall ordered.
Everyone starts walking out of the room where they were in hypersleep. Lyall walks out of the room but Dominick stops him.
“Hey Lyall, can I talk to you?” Dominick asked.
“Yeah sure, what’s up?” Lyall asked.
Lyall leans on a wall and looks at Dominick.
“Well I had this dream and I don’t know what it meant.” Dominick said.
“You had a dream during your hypersleep?” Lyall asked.
“Yeah, I did.” Dominick answered.
“Well, they say that dreams show you the future.” Lyall said.
“That’s what I’m afraid of.” Dominick replied.
“What happened?” Lyall asked.
“Well, I was back on Earth, driving back to my house with my car. I got there and parked my car. But when I went in my house…” Dominick stops speaking.
Dominick starts to cry and Lyall puts his hand on Dominick’s shoulder.
“What happened?” Lyall asked.
“I saw my girlfriend. She was just sittin’ there, watching T.V. But when I talked to her she didn’t respond, she didn’t move, she didn't do anything. But then she woke up and jumped on me. She got on top of me and tried to bite my face like a dog. I tried to get her off me but I couldn’t.” Dominick answered.
Dominick starts to cry even more. Lyall hugs Dominick. Dominick’s tears make Lyall’s shoulder wet.
“Her eyes were all white and her skin was all gray.” Dominick sobbed.
“Hey man, it’s gonna be okay. That was just a dream. It’s impossible for that to happen. I bet your girlfriend is alive and well.” Lyall reassured.
Dominick and Lyall stop hugging and they look at each other.
“You said that dreams can show the future. Are you sure it can’t happen?” Dominick asked.
“Yes, I’m positive.” Lyall answered.
Lyall sees that Dominick's eyes are red with tears falling down his face.
“Thanks, Lyall.” Dominick said.
“No problem. Now go get something to eat.” Lyall ordered.
“Yes, sir.” Dominick replied.
Dominick walks away from Lyall and Lyall starts to think about what Dominick told him.

The fanfiction would be more interesting, as in -- would get more attention, (you can publish it on fanfiction.net, ao3, even tumblr) if you included the characters from the game (show/comics) since you know..you just put a bunch of your own OCs and only the universe is similar to TWD.
If you are going to write your own book using this idea -- great!
I was actually going to post this story on Fanfiction.net as well. I learned about the website and I decided to post it there too. I want to put some characters from TWD into this story but to me, it felt weird for them to be in a spaceship going to Mars. But I didn't say that people from TWD weren't going to be in the story

Yeah, I thought it was an unusual idea as well. That's why I wanted to share a sneak peak and see what people thought about it. It seems that people are liking the idea about walkers in space and I'm very happy about that.
I actually haven't played TFTBL and I really should. I've heard a lot of good things about it.
