What I want out of Conrad
So Episode 3 was actually pretty damn good. And one of the reasons for that was Conrad being the one of the few determinant characters to actually be done well. They could still kill him immediately in episode 4 of course but at least it still felt like saving him added to the story. However one way to make him a truly good memorable determinant is to go all in and make him kill able in every episode from now on, if you don't give him the gun he dies in episode 3, have decisions like that in episodes 4 and 5, possibly having him survive the whole game. I feel this would kill two criticisms with one stone, "choices don't matter" and the "determinant characters are doomed" stigma. Thoughts?

That would be a fun idea. Hope people don't give them too much shit though if he doesn't make it into episode 5, and if they do its a decent exit.
That's so funny, I was actually thinking Telltale should do that, make Conrad killable in every episode. And for those that manage to keep him alive to the end, they unlock a special trophy or get some sort of scene or feature that no one else can get.
Ya I'm fine if he's doomed in the end but I think it's a good opportunity for TT to do something memorable with a determinant character
Yeah, poor Conrad could be the simultaneously luckiest buttmonkey.
Kinda like the Felix thing in TFTB.
Conrad was excellent. I totally am happy with my choice of not killing me because not only is Clementine not mad at me, he apologized and he had a great boast when I let him kill Badger (You're not a man. You're nothing.)
I really hope his presence continues like it has.
Normally, I would be thrilled by a determinant living, but I'm not this time. The reason why is because I believe that the only reason Telltale gave Conrad a big role is because they want players to pick the anti-Clementine option. Why else would they give him a much bigger part than the vast majority of determinants, when keeping him alive was an extremely unpopular choice? What the fans asked for was more Clem, but all they got was a single flashback and no changes in her behaviour from the previous seasons, again. On top of that, her opinion about David just doesn't seem to hold up. Her anger is justified but the game shows that he's reliable, so you are encouraged not to join in on Clem's hatred.
I think this is just a part of Telltale's plan to try and set up Clementine so that people don't care so much and that they can just discard her, for stories focused on Javier's family instead.
I would be so surprise when Conrad can survive the whole season.
Conrad being killable in both of the next two episodes is the most you're going to get out of him for the rest of the season. As his survival is determinant, too much programming would be required to give him any more character than he already has, similar to Nick in season two. Not only do I expect him to die a quick and crappy death, but it will be compulsory, as making it determinant AGAIN would be pretty dumb considering we've already seen two instances of that.
This is why the flashbacks in Episode 1 were so "poorly written". It wasn't a lack of effort, it was the most Telltale could do. So don't expect Telltale to pull a No Going Back again anytime soon.
It's nice he wasn't just stuck in a fence somewhere. Hopefully his presence makes a real difference to the rest of the season. I was one of the few who kept him alive, and I'm now glad I did.
But I'm already satisfied, they gave him plenty to do in episode 3 when they could so easily have wrote him off since very few people kept him alive. Could they kill him off in 4 sure, I feel they did a good job with him already which is very different than Nicks one or two lines before his death. They could run with it and keep going.
I doubt a lot of people replay the game man, they gave him a role because he should have a role, all determinant characters should, what they did with Conrad should be the goal for all determinants.
Meaning?
Ironically enough, one of the few complaints I have with the episode is that it doesn't take full advantage of the Conrad holding Clementine hostage(well, "hostage") storyline. Hell, the fact that he's the one who forced her to stay isn't even brought up outside of the Previously on Segment and there's not even any vitriolic banter between the two.
Obviously, the reason Conrad is better handled is because of the simple setup, less characters, and the backlash Nick and Sarah's handling got.
No choices that supposedly affect the following game, e.g. Kenny and Jane.
I'm ok with Telltale giving a live or die choice for Conrad in the next episode but for a lot of people it just seems like Telltale wants the player to kill him off. I think Conrad has potential to do more and possibly survive in both episodes 4 and 5.
I hope they allow him to live to the end of the series if you chose to save him. They could keep him in the same role he had this episode and ride it out till the end.
Oh, okay. I thought you were referring to things like Sarah's fate and who shoots Rebecca.
Aw, I didn't know Conrad was determinant. Now I'm sad.
Didn't give him the gun huh?
