He reminds me of Bonnie. A weak willed addict trying to escape the world and it's brutality instead of be strong enough and face it. Given my disposition against users maybe my opinion is biased, however he doesn't seem that determined or caring about doing what's right
Something about him rubbed me the wrong way before the flashback with Clem, he seemed like a real creep with his demeanor, and tone of voice. I really didn't want to leave Kate with him, and when I accidentally mentioned Eleanor that drove my suspicions further, but getting into the flashback with Clem, and how he's just a pathetic stoner made me feel better about his character. Its the little things that can change a persons entire opinion on a person.
Idem, when he said he wanted to stay alone with Kate I instantly thought he was a creep, and when he said he wanted to met Eleaonor too it was Creep x2.
I'm actually disappointed they didn't go this route with him, a coward is not interesting, we had those already, and Ben was worth x10 cowards.

He seems to have a good heart, but a weak personality.
He is a coward, and a junkie abusing drugs.
Seems to me David acted tough on Clementine to distract the group away from Lingard being high.
Basically David saved dr. Lingards ass.
The "how are you doing, sweetheart?" did make me suspicious of him, but what annoyed me was that his name was Paul too. My drunk brain was concocting all sorts of theories about Jesus, but no. There were two blokes named Paul. I am disappoint.
I liked him. When David said that he knows where AJ is I think Clem smiled not only because of this news but also bc of he's one of those friends in New Frontier she mentioned.
He reminds me of doctor Steven Edwards from 5 season of TV TWD, whom I like as well.
I thought it was kinda suspicious when he skipped out on that meeting to stay with Kate. Saying that he wanted to stay with his patient didn't make much sense since he obviously didn't have interest in staying with her before. He probably has other patients to check with
Thought he was gonna be a bit of a creep at first due to his accent, but he definitely grew on me as the episode went on.
Anyway, let's run down the list because my wifi shit the bed for a while:
Appreciating Eleanor's handiwork enough to vouch for her release
Trying to convince Clementine not to steal and even trying to get her another chance (while high no less)
taking care of AJ despite thinking he'll be another example to his "curse"
determinately trying to buy David time when Lonnie bear false witness against him.
Also, I totally called that it was Yuri Lowenthal, so go me!
I honestly don't know what to think of him. In the first scene he acted rather strange and unnerving to me around Kate. In the Clem flashback he was a high as fuck doctor who just talks to her instead of calling his group like most people would, but still not-too-high to warn her about the medical supply she's about to use. In the last scene he seemed to be bothered about the raids on other settlements but then sits on the sidelines.
He's gave me a mix of creepiness, high-spirited and cautious when... well high, good willed but cowardly in one episode. I dunno if the first scene was unintentional creepiness but yeah, I can't get a pin on that guy.
I don't know what to think about his 'curse'... it could mean that if AJ is still alive he will die on another point in the story. Or he just talked shit because he was high as a kite. Also, where did he take AJ, why would he take him away from Richmond and why wouldn't the other leaders - in this case David - know where he has taken AJ to? It's all very mysterious/badly written.
I like him. Sure he did give off some creep vibes but has been winning me over for the little things he has said and done. He vouched for Eleanor, he tried to get Clementine a second chance, he (determinately) attempted to buy David more time when faced with false accusations, etc.
What I'm currently liking about him is that I have no idea what they have in store for him and his character can go various ways. Maybe he's bad, maybe he's good, maybe he's something in-between. Maybe he really is a creep, maybe his cowardliness is out of selfishness or maybe he's actually a very caring person but lacks the strength to be assertive about it. Maybe his issues will get better, maybe they'll get worse.
Like someone else said, to me it seems like he has a good hearth but a weak personality/will. This is just my interpretation though. I'm curious to see what kind of person he really is since he has given off different signals.

Just adding... because of some of their interaction I'm kinda curious where Lingard and Clementine stand.
Her reaction was strangely... chill when he caught her taking medicine. Obviously she knew she was doing something forbidden since she was sneaking around. Yet when he woke up she just went "Dr. Lingard. What's wrong with you?" She makes absolutely no attempts to cover what she's doing... and he seems to immediately know her intention... despite being high =P. Also, he just tells her to "put the drugs back before the others notice". He doesn't tell her to "put them back before I'll tell the others / throw you out myself". Then, if you inject AJ, he just silently shakes his head and when David rushes in he goes "She... I told her it was a bad idea."
I don't know but to me this whole exchange sounded like he might not have said anything to the others if they didn't caught her by themselves and Clem's kind of nonchalant behaviour around him meant she knew he wouldn't make a big deal about it, even if he was against it.
He then tries to get her a second chance and looks genuinely sad when she's made to leave (watch his face when making the choice to say goodbuy to AJ or spit at David's face).
Then when David later tells her AJ is alive... when he says "Dr. Lingard took care of the boy. He'll know where to find him." Clem actually smiles, then gets all serious again. Of course it might just be her being happy about AJ being alive but I still find her reaction interesting considering how she at first rejected David's words as lies. If Lingard was someone she didn't trust / disliked, I'd expect her reaction to be different. More like "Oh crap I need to save AJ!" Now it was more like "Oh I'm sure I can find him now."
Just wondering. I might be reading too much to it. I often seem to pay attention to little details thinking they might have relevance =P
Yeah, that was definitely something I immediately picked up on. Lingard is probably my favorite of the Richmond Quad for a number of reasons, with that scene practically solidifying it.

He seems like a bit of a coward. I also dont like how he didn't want to give AJ medicine despite being high as fuck, again.
But it also seems like he may be instrumental in AJ's fate. We need to figure out everything he knows.
I liked him, especially when he was high because it was pretty funny.

He seemed really creepy to me. Probably abusing medication too. Like and unsavory Otacon.

I never thought it was creepy about Eleanor only because she is a highly skilled doctor which is always in demand.
I like him. He seems like a good guy, though he clearly had issues. He may have or may not have overcome them since the flashback but we'll see.

Honestly? That quack creeps me out.

Reading these posts, I'm glad I wasn't the only one that got a creepy vibe from him....

He seems like an alright dude. I mean I guess I haven't seen enough of him to really get a feel for him.
Guy's creepy. Hate the way he talks.
He looks like a slacker. The way he talk is ****** (-,_,-)

He is voiced by Yuri, who also voiced Mercury from Rwby and Sasuke from naruto
WHAT IS LIFE??

He is the friend Clem was talking about.
Too bad Lingard is kind of a chicken towards David and Joan.
He is a coward-junky who needs to start showing some backbone.. but I think deep down he has a good heart.
