  • And that's the part that doesn't make sense to me.

NF uses the fact that AJ is sick in order to justify not giving him medicine, claiming he would die anyway...then they ultimately decide to keep him around because reasons and he "miraculously" makes a recovery.

Also, that whole scene was bizarre since David is supposed to be a stickler for the rules, classic military hardass trope, yet he claims Clem is wasting resources after finding the doctor high. Clem gets kicked out because it's "the rules" yet the doctor not only goes unpunished, but also continues to have his words hold weight regarding the decision to kick Clem out or take AJ.

Does anyone have proof that David does anything REALLY bad? Like beats her or the kids? Because David seems like a completely Rational dude with a short fuse like Abraham. I'd be pissed too if I had a momento from a intense moment of my life smashed, never to be replaced. (David yelling at Kate about the Smashed Glass)
He genuinely wants to keep people safe and beieves his Military Training is a good way to do it.

Please stop trying to Force Kate on us... I can already see the "Hey David I fucked your wife but I didn't want to, now you're going to try and kill me so I'm forced to kill you."

Either show me that David is guilty of Domestic Abuse or stop trying to shove Kate on Javi's cock-a-doodle doo.

  • It's implied that David, Clint, Lingard, and the then missing Joan were the leaders of the group even back then and David got his case because he didn't need their followers seeing him in that condition. So, basically his Seniority and importance got him off easier compared to Clementine's outright theft despite recently joining.

Also, Lingard does say he tried everything he could when they first came to him, but AJ didn't show signs of getting better and he sorta implies the medicine Clementine stole wasn't a cure but rather a pain reliever.

  • It does make sense if you think about it. Lingard and others explained they have tried previously to heal AJ to no avail at all. Not to mention he was essentially deathbound until his miraculous comeback. And it makes sense to keep AJ seeing how he was deathly sick and staying with clementine in the middle of nowhere further reduces his chances of survival.

Just finished episode 3 now (had some problems during the past two days, so wasn't able to play) and I can say for sure: episode 3 was AMAZING! Waaaaaay better than episodes 1 and 2. You can clearly see they changed the writers. The dialogues are great, I found myself thinking about which answer to choose lots of times, etc.
I wish we could see more of Clem, but Javier was just GREAT during the episode. I think I'm in love lol
    About David... I don't know. I still don't trust him 100%
I will miss Jesus, hope he comes back.
    Joan... Wow, what a bitch.
I didn't killed Badger, I let Conrad do the job. And his line "You're not a man, you're nothing". Wow!
I think I like Ava now.
And I have a bad feeling about Eleanor and Tripp. Don't know why.
And David better be telling the truth about AJ. That's all.
Good job, Telltale. You won my excitement again. Can't wait for episode 4.
    Keep the good job!

  • It's strange how "adult" people treat Clem. Isn't she only supposed to be 13? I get that she's like super hardened and mature, but it's still weird.

  • 13 might as well mean being an adult in the apocalypse, especially when that means knowing how to deal with walkers with ease.

I just stopped playing after redoing the church scene a couple of times. It's so moronic that I can't bring myself to keep playing.

You don't even get a chance to actually explain what happened at the beginning with Max, why the hell can't Javier just say that he was unaware that the place was owned by a group? You can't be a thief to a abandoned junkyard god dammit. I don't get to explain that Clementine just wanted the god damn truck either. And what's with the "they exchanged bullets outside our walls?" I did as Max asked! The ending choice in Ep2 said so too.

And the "Kate Romance," f!ck, I specifically avoided all romantic choices and yet she still acts like there is a relationship and David is obviously suspicious.

For the first time I just can't play past a scene and get on with it. That there, in these beginning scenes, are the worst game writing I have ever seen. They deliberatedly avoid the only logical explanations all for the sake of fake drama.

  • For a game supposedly about choice, I've been given little to no opportunity to stop this "Kate Romance" thing from happening despite always choosing to deny her. Seriously Telltale, stop giving us the illusion of choice if you're just going to force this shit on us so fucking hard. It's just pissing me off.

  • I agree.

  • aaah, I completely forgot to say my opinion about the episode here.

I really liked the episode, I think the pacing was awesome as I felt like the episode was like 2 hours long and I was having fun the whole time. I really like the development the characters got in this episode, it's good to see more of them. I wish there was a little more zombies to fight though, but that's still fine. I was so excited while playing that my heart was beating fast the whole time, which never happened before. It was even worse during the intense scenes!

One thing that I found really frustrating though, is the forced Kate romance. I've been rejecting her since the very beginning of season 3 and yet every character believes we're in a relationship, even when I denied it to Tripp, he didn't believe me. The game basically made a relationship "canon" when I didn't romance Kate at all, and I don't even like her. Like, at all.

I really hope Telltale fix this in the next episodes and acknowledge the choices we made when it comes to the love triangle thing going on. I'd be seriously upset if David got mad at me for a secret relationship I didn't even make happen. I like David a lot, and he's my favorite character right now. And I avoided romancing Kate for him, so please, don't make this a Bruce/Selina/Harvey thing where Harvey is mad at you no matter what you chose to do with Selina, that's not cool.

The romance between Javi and Kate wouldn't bother me if we actually had an option that made it clear that I (Javi) don't have feelings for Kate, and the characters acknowledging that and believing me. Just a "Oh okay, I thought you two were a thing because of how close you guys are. Sorry for the misunderstanding man, didn't mean to offend you or anything." from Tripp would've been perfect. And if Kate could take the hint that I'm not interested in her, that'd be nice too ahah.

But yeah, other than the forced romance, I loved the rest of the episode. I sided with David the whole time haha, I hope that doesn't make me a bad person or anything. I often choose the guys with bad temper for some reason. But I don't know, I feel like I can trust David, though I'm aware a lot of people don't feel the same way.

I wish we saw Eleanor more, by the way. I like her but she was barely there during this episode. :/

I killed both Badger and Max. Because I'm crazy like that. Just kidding (not really), Badger was an asshole and needed to die, especially for what he did to Mariana (i wish she was still alive). As for Max, I didn't want to risk any new betrayals so I thought killing him would be easier.

I chose to join David at the end, which resulted in him and Joan firing at each other, if I remember correctly. Well, there was a black screen, so we can't know for sure. But I'm sure David will be okay, and Joan too. It might just be Tripp and Eleanor coming in and shooting some goons for all we know. But I doubt Telltale would kill off David right now since we just got to really know him, and Joan, well, she's the new villain. I think that'd be a waste to kill her off now, that'd be a stupid move to do. I'm interested to see more of her.

ps: I wish I picked the option to tell her to choke on her cake by the way lmao

    Pretty sure you can.

He may be referring to when Badger sprung a trap at the junkyard or ordered an unauthorized raid on Prescott.

"I didn't know it was yours" or "We needed it." Javier doesn't explain he beleived the junkyard to be abandoned and that he wouldn't have tried to take the gas if he knew otherwise.

Also, I'm talking about the scene when entering New Frontier, not the Prescot stand off. Prescot wasn't "their walls." But you might be right about the Junkyard, but then the issue still stands, you can't argue that the junkyard was abandoned and unguarded.

  • Couldn't agree more. I've seen people defending Kate by saying stuff like "well of course Javi and her would love each other after spending many years during the apocalypse + it's not bad since they believed David was dead" but like... they're forgetting that Kate was already trying to flirt with Javi before the apocalypse. And ugh, just the thought of it makes me cringe. That's just so wrong on so many levels. If she doesn't like David she could've just left him, instead of romancing his little brother.

Also when she said to Javi in episode 1 that before the apocalypse started David asked her to not smoke weed around the kids (who were really little back then) and she refused because she "didn't want to change who she was", I don't know, that put me off too.

If Javi and Kate started to like each other long after the apocalypse started I'd be fine with it I guess (even though I'd still find it weird since Kate is Javi's sister in law), but considering she was already flirting with Javi before... I don't know. Why did she even marry David in the first place if she hates him so much? (i'm actually kinda curious about this. maybe Telltale will have the answers for us.)

Kate, I hate her. She constantly wants a fairy tale prince to whisk her away from her "terrible husband." Does anyone have proof that David

  • Yeah, I was expecting a scene like that at some point during the season. But when it happened it was still very emotional with Clem and AJ being separated like that.

AAAAAAAAAH! I actually shed a tear at that part. It was so unexpected. I didn't think I would get hit in the feels that hard.

  • Yes, I agree with you there. I chose not to open the door too because I was sure that Clem would get super pissed at me but the choice didn't really have that much of an impact. David gets in anyway and from as far as I can tell, there is no obvious change in Clementines attitude towards Javier.
However, in my game, Clem jumps onto David and starts yelling about AJ which makes more sense than her having no reaction at all.

Episode wasn't too bad though (despite the issues with Ps4 Disc and having to wait 3 days after the release to play)

  • I chose to kill Badger and Max just to avoid any issues that Max would probably cause in later episodes but I liked Jesus' character until that point. I'm not sure why he is acting like I'm an asshole for killing the two as they did have a part in Mariana's death and the destruction of Prescott but I'm starting to dislike him a bit now which sucks.

  • What does David say when you say, "It's true between me and Kate" or something like that

  • I already liked episode 1&2 but I have to admit this episode is even better, sure I still has problems here and there but it's just nitpicks. I just want to replay it again and again to see all the differences, that's exactly what I wanted for the first two episodes but I felt there wasn't much difference since we followed a new character.

    Positives:
+ Conrad! I am so happy with what they did with this determinant character, the best since Ben back in season 1. Too bad I inadvertently killed him by not giving the gun in my first playthrough.
+ David is not such a one-dimensional bad guy as I feared he would be. Actually this situation reminded me of previous season where choices were always Kenny vs the world.
+ Personally I was satisfied with the length of this episode
+ The branching storyline, more of that please?
+ The many ways of killing Badger, I guess they were really listening. Javi/Conrad/Tripp (speaking of Tripp, doesn't he seems less agreeable with Javi compared to the last episodes too bad it happen in every scenario.
+ Personally I wasn't angered at not seeing Clementine until the middle of the episode if you chose to kill Conrad, I mean she did say she was leaving after all, it's not like it was unexpected.
+ AJ may be alive! "Clem" I knew it :) plus it was the same soundtrack used during Lee's death scene. :(
+ Gabe at the end of the episode if you chose to live with Kate. I still think his arc in the end would be about choosing between his father and Javi.

    Negatives:
    - I tried to reject Kate's advance multiple times but all the dialogue options were about Javi admitting there was something between them especially with his first conversation with David which again is reminding me of every characters thinking I was Kenny's best friend in season 2.
    - Still not much hubs, unfortunately. Thank god the story was entertaining.
    - Joan is the new Norma.
    - Clementine's personality still doesn't change at all beside 2 dialogues who changes depending on your season 2 ending. She doesn't even seem to care that Javi used her as a hostage and she's not hostile to Conrad or Javi, really? She say Javi "earned" her trust even when I I never sided with her and used negative dialogue options, the only time when she can be hostile to Javi is when he tried to stop her from shooting David. That's really my biggest issue with the episode so far.

  • It feels like the way they disregarded Glenn back in season 1. I hope that Jesus comes back but I guess we'll have to wait and see. I do enjoy Jesus' character and he is pretty badass the way he deals with those walkers but it annoyed me when he got pissed at Javi for killing Badger and Max (I chose to kill both) since they were responsible for Mariana and lot's of other people in the settlements they raided deaths.

Better to get rid of a cameo as soon as you can.

  • " beside 2 dialogues who changes depending on your season 2 ending"
    Which were?

I already liked episode 1&2 but I have to admit this episode is even better, sure I still has problems here and there but it's just nitp

    2) At the end of the episode

" beside 2 dialogues who changes depending on your season 2 ending" Which were?

  • Episodes are just too short and waiting time between them too big for me to care for anyone else but Clem.

  • When you question David about Clem 's story leaving a little girl alone to die he says he would do that to anyone who crossed him even his own family . Shows what a pos he is and he seems pretty proud of himself even though he never even looked for his family .

Couldn't agree more. I've seen people defending Kate by saying stuff like "well of course Javi and her would love each other after spending

  • We did get more backstory on the characters, at least. Still though I believe the majority of people are going to put Clem's well being above anyone else's. I hate to say it but if Clem wasn't in this game it would be more enjoyable because we would have a completely clean slate. But TellTale knew that if it had Clem all over the cover then people would buy it up.

I doubt that we'll ever get another Walking Dead focused on Clem, unless TellTale realizes how dumb and lazy they're being.

Episodes are just too short and waiting time between them too big for me to care for anyone else but Clem.

  • Overall a really good episode, a step-up from the first two.

    • Sure, there were no hubs but I feel like this episode didn't suffer from it contrarely to 1 and 2, this is way more action-packed which isn't a bad thing since it's executed nicely.

    • Some choices manage to make me doubt a whole lot and speaking of choices the fact that they matter now gives a sense of uncertainty I didn't have in S2.

    • Still I wish the Kate thing wasn't forced upon us, there's noway to tell Trip straight that Kate is not a lover and even she acts like a couple with Javi independently of his actions, I just wish there will be an option to flat out reject her down the line and stop with this nonsense before having an unnecessary confrontation with David.

    • I have to hand it out to Telltales for the way they handled David, he's neither black or white rather a delightful shade of grey, I was part of his detracters before this episode but I found myself siding with him way more that I would've thought. The other characters were good too but David was undeniably my highlight for this episode.

  • I kind of agree with him though. Not saying he's a nice person for doing that, but imo he needs to apply the same rules to everyone or it wouldn't be fair and it could cause trouble with other people from the NF. What message would it send to the people of the NF if David kept a thief in the group just because he likes them? I don't even feel sorry for Clem because she brought it on herself and knew she'd get in trouble. She was lucky the NF let her live, not every group would've done that (the 400 days with Shel and Becca for example). Also, Clem can take care of herself just fine and I'm sure the NF knew that. I doubt the NF would've kicked her out if it was the 8yo Clem who didn't know how to fight. That's just my opinion though.

Though Kate most likely started to dislike David for his bad temper, she should've just divorced him. Flirting with Javi was still a wrong thing to do. Things like that can break a family, it's just really bad imo.
