Mariana's Original Death

Sorry if this is a repost of anything, I couldn't find another thread.
So for those who don't know, Mariana was originally supposed to be shot in the neck instead of her head. Do you think that would've played out the same? Like would she of died instantly or would it be a slow death? It's quite interesting really because she could've come back as a Muerto.

It'd likely be Matthew's death without the bridge: she'd stumble around a bit in shock before either dropping dead or getting shot again by Badger and his crew.
I'm glad that didn't happen, can't imagine that innocent girl choking on her own blood while slowly dying in Javi's arms, probably in agony. For Javier's sanity it's good she died painlessly.

Anyway, I can imagine that the original intent was for Mariana to have Kate's role. Instead of her death and Kate's wound, Kate's fine and Mariana is the one you can rush back to Prescot. Perhaps wether or not El or Tripp is present could play a role. Just speculation, I have no idea how fatal a throat wound is.

Well it was from an AK so pretty damn fatal, but if it was from a .22 or something else low caliber high velocity it could just go through, but would still be very bad without a hospital and doctors near by.
mariana looks like she ate too many candybars there.
If anything it was probs originally her neck so we'd need to put her down before she turns.
I guess that also explains why Kate insisted that they try and get her. Being shot in the neck makes (somewhat more) sense, considering that she would probably still be alive. She would be choking and gurgling on her own blood, but alive, and Kate would want to try and get her to keep her safe.
However, with what actually happened, it makes no sense for Kate to run out into a hail of bullets to try and get Mariana, who was shot right through the head and died immediately.
