Conversations between characters and character development meant in episodes 4/5

What characters would you like to see talk about their pasts and to which other characters in the upcoming episodes?... the chances of telltale actually including a free roam area/room where we can interact with the cast of the game like they used to in the past games is very unlikely even though many of use have asked for it, however if it were to happen and the characters got to share their pasts with each other, what and who would you like to see talk about their past? Personally I really want Javi and Clem to have that conversation and Clem to fill in Javi about her past, kind of like she did with Luke in episode 1 of season 2, it'll be nice to hear about it again and maybe have a flashback triggered from all that time ago.

  • Didn't mean the 'meant' in the title :P

  • I really want a scene to play out where Clem is about to get AJ back, and she is sneaking up to get him and see's him playing happily with whom ever is raising him now. Then she realizes that that is not something she can give him now that she is just a hardened survivor, she could never give him any semblance of the life she once had with her Mom and Ed. I want this moment to break her and for it to finally pull herself back from the brink, I guess Javi could be there with her for but I think it would play better with Ava or Gabe being there.

  • Clem, Tripp, and Eleanor. I don't care about the Garcia family really. Clem and Eleanor especially need more screen time anyway.

  • I like that

I'd like to see Eleanor developed more in future episodes, since she's lacking in screen-time and characterization.

Maybe there could be a story arc where Eleanor's main trait, her eagerness to help people, becomes her downfall as it causes her friends to become suspicious of her, which becomes more apparent as Clementine becomes more vocal about how she doesn't trust Eleanor at all and convinces everyone to stay on guard.

Circumstances only makes Eleanor more suspicious by sheer coincidences, which then causes Tripp to start doubting Eleanor and become more reluctant to understand Eleanor's plight due to their relationship, which causes Eleanor to become closed off and less friendly to the group due to her friend's lack of trust towards her.

After that, Eleanor and Clementine starts to butt heads after Eleanor's patience finally reaches it limit, where she then gets angry at Clementine for deliberately turning everyone against her over Clementine's impression of Eleanor. We learn a bit more about Eleanor, about why she's eager to help people, why she was once in a relationship with Tripp, and what has happened to her own family and how she came to be in Prescott. Perhaps Clementine can also make a jab at Eleanor having dated Tripp once and is making her next move on Javier out of spite, to increase more tension between the two.

Eventually it's revealed that Eleanor is genuine had no evil intentions to speak of the entire time, and depending on the choices, she can either die or leave the group with the belief that everyone is happy to see her gone, or Clementine apologizes to Eleanor for her distrust and having indirectly caused the group to turn on her, where Eleanor will then decide to stick with the group in the end.

Of course I doubt there will be much to see with Eleanor in future episodes, or that she does turn out to be a traitor of sorts, but I would like to see a plot like this happening in future episodes.

  • Lol why doesn't anyone trust Eleanor? XD is it because of clem?

  • Most likely. Her personality seems to have rubbed some players the wrong way, and Clementine admitting that she trusts Tripp more than her must have set off a few alarms as well.

  • Well, that and the whole "Two females like the same guy, so clearly one of them is bad" thing. Ugh--I really hoped they wouldn't do that before and doubt they'll do it now.

I don't know if thats the message either. Its more my own headcanon. But that's the one theme that always keeps me coming back to the TWD, comic, game or show. The notion of how far can you go before there is no return and you're just a monster. It's why my Clem was always built to be a hardass, because I want to redeem her.

  • What characters would you like to see talk about their pasts ..

I'm gonna take advantage of your OP and say I want another 'Luke at the Dinner Table' scene--but with Clementine in place of Luke. While I'm somewhat pleased to say we were mostly distracted from it thanks to Above the Law being more lore and character driven than the previous episode, one criticism I still have in mind for both is Javier and his status as his own character. It was near the end of the episode, when things were calming down for the oncoming storm that I realized that nearly everything Javier sees and does in the story involved things touched by David first: Kate, Gabriel and Mariana, the New Frontier, and even Clementine all fall into that category. Now, this is actually a common trap in certain works, where it feels like the main character's destiny was decided for him and he's dealing with things brought on by his allies and predecessor's actions and for what it's worth, I think the many of the progressing choices Javier can make are firmly capable of being by his own will. However, it doesn't change the fact that who Javier is has relatively little to do with the plot, unlike with Lee, most of the 400 Days Characters, or even S2!Clementine and while he's got more to him than the likes of Wyatt or especially Tripp, a small part of me still thinks we haven't really gotten to know Javier himself all that much. So I think it would be nice to invoke OG!Clementine, the Stranger, and Luke by having Clementine or someone else take Javier aside during a grace period and get to explain more about his past and who he thinks he is through his own lips.

Outside of him, I want to get to know Ava, Eleanor, Conrad, Max, Ava, Dr. Lingard, Shade-Chick*, and especially Ava personally. Gabe and Kate can also tell us more about themselves and Mariana as well, for those who really liked her.

I suppose Tripp is the one character who desperately needs some backstory more than anyone else, but if I get another wish, I say let Eleanor and/or determinately Conrad do the much of the expounding in his place. I know something that stuck out about the first season was how each character would tell you about themselves if asked and vice versa, but I think it would be a nice change of pace to repeat the talk with Pete in the woods or Bonnie in the armory and have other characters tell you what they know about the character(s) in question and develop how they perceive them in the process.

and to which other characters in the upcoming episodes?

Clementine and..:pretty much anyone but Tripp, but namely Gabe, Max(backstory), Ava, and Joan(who she apparently never met)
David and...:Clementine, Kate(backstory and development), and Ava
    Gabe and...:Clemetine and Ava(development)
    Kate and...:David(development)
    Max and...:Clementine(backstory), David, and Ava
Tripp and...:No one in particular, but more characterization would be efficient. So, I guess Conrad
Conrad and...:Clementine(missed opportunity from Above the Law), Tripp(have these two ever really spoken when shit wasn't going down?), and Ava*
    Eleanor and...:Shades-Chick*, Lingard, and Joan
Ava and...:Clementine, David, Gabe, Max, and Conrad*
    Lingard and...:Eleanor, Joan, and Clint
    Joan and...:Clementine and Lingard
    Clint and...:David and Lingard

  • Is Eleanor the first character we've had that has a personality like hers; extremely nice? For some reason I feel like we've had similar characters to Eleanor but I don't really remember anyone specific.
