How do telltale revive ANF?

With ANF being basically a huge flop, how do you guys think, if they can, how can they revive the series? What do they need to do in episode 4 and 5 to make it a success?

  • Kill Javi and let Clem take over...

I'm just kidding, I like Javi. I guess extend episode length to 2 hours each and make it focus more on Clementine. Also, improve the story... Like, a lot. I like ANF, but it's got so much wasted potential.

  • Absolutely nothing.

They probably ran the numbers. Know it will sell enough to be good in their eyes. Bait another WD game for the next 3-4 years while Galaxy comes out. Announce another 6 new series in the coming 2 years.

Feels like they made it and now just want to release stuff ASAP. I gotta assume the budget to make these games is way smaller than a normal game...

  • A New Frontier is not a "huge flop", sure its not great, but its not terrible, its very average, and I am still kinda excited for episode 4 and 5, even if only for Clementines part in the story, also, episode 4 is already basically done, so dont expect any big changes.

As for the future of TWD, have Javier survive A New Frontier, then switch back next season, so Clementine is the protagonist, protecting AJ and travelling with Javier, now that we have seen Clementine from a thirdperson perspective after playing her, I am actually interested in seeing Javier from Clementines perspective, (I also really want Clementine to be the main character again, since she is the character I am interested in), and this way they can properly deliver on the personality of Javier, since it doesnt have to be over 2 seasons, so they can take your choices from A New Frontier, and base Javier around those choices, although it probably wont happen, but I really hope they make Clementine the main character again, since she is the main reason I play, I dont mind playing as other characters, but I like it alot more if its spinoffs, such as Michonne, where all the characters you interact with are new, so they have a clean slate for me to become attached to them. Could even start a new series thats created seperately from Clementines story, which follows a new cast of characters, as long as they continue Clementines story

  • They won't, this game will just end and everyone will move on, forgetting about it.

  • Haha they couldn't revive this the same way that Lee can't be revived

  • Whatever they do will just result in me doing this.

  • Although imagine season 2 and 3 here being different if Lee was still alive?

  • I feel like they aren't worried about changing it too much at this point. Sales are probably acceptable so they're going to focus on GotG which will probably be their new cash cow for a while.

  • Its not a huge flop. Quit spouting lies. lol

  • Oh yeah things would totally be different. Personally i always felt Lee should have survived into Season 2 at the very least. He went too early in my opinion.

    Yes... yes it is.

Ratings are still decreasing rapidly. Front page reviews are ALL negative (steam). Metacritic user ratings are still decreasing. Sales are doing shit (steam) with MANY refunds happening. There's more.

  • Hey, you're pretty smart :). Do you work for TTG or... Are you just seeing a pattern?

  • After Episode 1 I think it sort of let itself go. Even Episode 3 was weak by basic expectations. I as a fan have lowered my standards greatly and yet still feel disappointed

  • I wouldnt say its a huge flop, sure its a pretty big disappointment, but its not awful, honestly I am more worried that all this critizism its getting will mean that we wont get a sequel down the line, and while alot of people say they dont want a sequel after A New Frontier, I do, since games can be bad, games can be good, and living up to the expectations of season 1 and 2 is a big bite to swallow

  • I feel it is awful for many reasons but you are of course entitled to like it just as others can but i just can't accept it for how they have gone about this. They fixed something that was never broke in the first place. They should have continue Season 1's trend, not change everything!

  • Revive? Ha anf is too far gone but they can always try making it a little better by adding Christa ;) maybe clem would have a little believable role

  • I totally agree with you actually, there are alot of bad things about A New Frontier, but its not all bad, I have genuinely had some enjoyable moments in it (most of them with Clementine but hey).

But as a sequel to TWD season 1 and 2, I agree, it falls completely flat, there is just no other way to say it, they should have not changed the focus to Javier in a main series entry, it should have been a spinoff or new series IMO, alot of people play for Clementine, and they should have continued her story properly, for me, I hope they will make season 4, and have Clementine back in the lead role, with Javier as a secondary character (assuming he survives this season)
