Who would Gabe choose?

I was wondering who does Gabe have more loyalty towards? Javier or David? I know David is his dad, but he's been with Javier ever since the beginning of the apocalypse and has been taking care of him like he was his own son. Gabe even holds Conrad at gunpoint when he thought he might hurt Javier which shows he's very overprotective of his uncle. Javier even says that he considered Mari like his own daughter which I assume extends to Gabe being like his son. So if it comes down to it who would Gabe ultimately side with or save over the other?

  • David, Gabe had to make up his mind at the end of ep3, and he's chosen his father.

  • If David will turn out to be the bad guy and trying to kill Javi, I am sure Gabe will defend his uncle.
Perhaps at the beginning after David had beaten Javi, a young and confused Gabe somehow 'remembers' this might be a sign.

  • It's pretty clear that Gabe's loyalty ultimately is with David. I believe he cares fr Javier until it comes to choosing between Javier and David.

  • I thought that had to do more with him not wanting to leave his father behind AGAIN and feeling guility for doing it the first time rather than anything else and it seemed like staying was a really hard choice for him to make. When we come back to the infirmary Gabe seemed to be really worried for Javi and told him that he loves him. Plus he hasn't seen his father since he was a small child so I'd like to think he feels like he owes Javi more than David.

  • So if David was trying to kill Javi and Gabe had a gun in which he basically has a Clementine Jane/Kenny choice on whether to shoot David or let him kill Javi, what do you think he'd choose?

    Leave Clem alone :D

Nope. He just didn't want to leave his father behind for no reason.
This decision of Javi was the most shitty one this Season.
Your brother saves your lover's life and finally you ditch him behind his back when his life is in danger and trying to take David's family away. A very selfish act.
The bitch Kate was able to leave her son behind in a very dangerous situation.
Why didn't she just leave after Javi decided to stay with Gabe?
So she cares more about being with her husband brother.

David even tried to impress the other leaders to give his brother a place in Richmond. This time he meant well.

  • I would think he chose to save Javi.
    But might be determinant.
When Javi treated Gabe good, he will defend Javi.
When Javi treated Gabe like shit and left Gabe behind, Gabe probably will do nothing.
    Similar to the Lily/Lee/Cannibals situation.

I guess Clem is the one who started this.
    She started flirting with Gabe.

Because talking to him when he's going through something is totally flirting--Yay for teenage stereotypes!

  • I'd have to say David since, as Clementine herself once showed, a kid is ultimately gonna feel more for their real parent no matter how close they get to the adoptee.

Btw, I totally thought this was gonna be about whether he'd pick Clementine or David. Cause absolutes.

  • The way she talks lol.. kinda remind me on high school.

Aww just let the kids enjoy their young romance lol
They deserve a little happiness in that shitty world, they can die every day!
Perhaps this love make them stronger...

Nice development from 8-year old kid teasing other kid placing bugs under the pillow, and now as teen acting like the badass to impress the other teen lol

Not necessarily. Clementine imo felt more emotion for Lee's death than she did when she found her parents as walkers. And who did Clementine dream of when she got shot by Arvo? Throughout Season 2 Clem has so many opportunities to bring up Lee as if he was her father while bringing up her biological father isn't even an option in the entirety of Season 2. Her parents are important to her no doubt, but no matter what it seems like Lee left a much bigger impact on her than her parents did and in turn, left a bigger hole in her heart that can never be filled. At the end of the day, I believe that Clem would choose Lee over her parents, but that's up for debate.

  • More like I meant when it came to risking herself to meet with the Stranger to find her parents or listening to Lee and just letting them go, she chose the Stranger.

Gabe's situation is slightly different in that he actually knows his dad is still around firsthand and that he could be in trouble if they just run out on him, but it's the same general idea: Kate getting on her knees was ultimately futile.

Can you imagine if your stepmom wanted to leave your dad behind when he needs you the most and you just found out that he was alive just yesterday after so many years and when you ask her why she wants to abandon your dad, she just says "not our problem." I wouldn't leave either. Especially since David hasn't done anything wrong since we met up with him.

  • Like I understand she doesn't love him anymore. That's normal for people to experience that in their marriages. However, how she's going around dealing with it is NOT okay. Rather than being mature about it and ending it, she wants to leave him for dead after saving her life and she even left Gabe behind as long as she gets to be with Javier. Such an unlikable character. It's like she's trying to fuck up the relationship between two brothers on purpose.

    Hell yes.
It already started before the zombie apocalypse where she was flirting her husbands brother and complaining about David.
As the ZA was the day of Davids life because he lives for a brawl, it was the day of Kate's life where she finally got rid of David and could have Javier.

To be fair, I'm pretty sure the version I saw made it abundantly clear that she really hoped he'd come with them and it's Javier who just gets her moving when Gabe makes it clear that he's made up his mind.

  • And she finally left Gabe.

  • I'm not saying that she doesn't care or love Gabe. I mean her and Javier have been playing House with Mari and Gabe so obviously she's going to develop maternal feelings for Gabe after all these years in the apocalypse. However in the end, she showed that her selfish desires of traveling with Javi outweigh any love she may have had for those children.

  • I honestly think Gabe would protect Javier now. He couldn't do anything before, he did with Conrad so I would assume he would be able to make the decision now

  • David. It's his dad, he's going to have to do some serious shit in front of him to convince his son to kill him. I'm talking Neganing a bunch of kids and kittens, then throwing Gabe in a car and driving out to the junkyard, and yelling "HEY GABE! YOLO!" while pissing on Marianas' grave. By contrast, Richmond could end up being the second thriving community Javiers caused to be destroyed by existing, all within one season. It's a no contest right now.

  • Like I understand she doesn't love him anymore. That's normal for people to experience that in their marriages.

Except, this obviously wasn't a normal marriage. David appears to be abusive to both Javier and Kate, and she is scared of him. I can understand her wanting to leave.

In some way, I think she was relived she no longer had to deal with him in the apocalypse. She wanted to leave for a long time.

No need to be aggressive. Maybe you should do a little more research into that stuff.

I know if my wife broke something of mine but sliced open her hand, I'd be way more worried about her hand. That scene is there for a reason, I'd say it was to show you how he treats her.

Also, he beats up his brother because he couldn't make it to his fathers death, and then right afterwards, says: "I love you brother. You know that, right?". Not a good sign, if you ask me.

(EDIT: Was just rereading this and it could be taken as aggressive as well, that was not my intention. So I apologize)

  • At the beginning of the episode we tell gabe to leave becuase it's not safe anymore and maybe his dad is lost but at the end of the episode he refused because he doesn't want to leave him agian and tbh I would've done the same
