He's up there with David and Tripp as characters I'm really interested in seeing what's done with them.
I think Lingard just took care for the boy. Nothing more or less.
He is also the only person we know so far that has supported Clementine in The New Frontier
And the only person she wasn't scared for after he caught her stealing.
She was just relaxed with him and behaved like an annoying teen to get what she wanted anyway.
He was supposed to call others's when she was stealing, but he didn't.
We can see after Ava caught Clem stealing, Clem can beg Ava not telling the others. With Lingard Clem isn't worried at all.
Wich suggest she and Lingard had a decent friendship.
After David caught her stealing, Lingard pleaded for Clem to give her another chance.
