If Given The Option, Which Character Would You Save?
When I was first introduced to The Walking Dead: A New Frontier, I really liked some of the characters. I felt they were gonna be around for a long time. I was wrong.
Although I'm aware the scene was practically made to give you an emotional response, I was still upset and angry at Marianna's death. Regardless, I wished that the illusion of choice was put in there.
Kind of like the Doug vs. Carley choice, where you could just have some more time with that one character. I thought to myself, would people save Marianna or Gabe if given the option?
I don't hate Gabe, (Although I have said I do.) I just think he can get annoying. Marianna was the perfect character, which is why her death makes sense. But still, who would you choose? Why?

Mariana without question. She's not whiny, she's very intelligent for her age, and she was a sweetheart. She deserved better. Gabe's a misunderstood kid but Mariana was a wonderful kid and I wouldn't mind raising someone like her myself. Gabe would be a handful.
I know it's odd but Gabe, I think Mariana is great but Gabe would make a better story because he has more room for character development.
Mariana. As you said she is the perfect sweet girl. I think making her befriend Clementine and becoming the Sarah that never was would have been a lot more interesting then whatever romance they're trying to chalk up between Clem and Gabe.

I apologize--I really don't mean to discourage any genuine discussion or curiosity on your part, especially if you're new, but it's just that we finally got some peace from that shitstorm of negativity that Gabe alone had around him during the first three months of ANF's release and I just grew very weary of it personally. Don't feel too bad about that though, it's something you have no fault for and you're very welcome to discuss this.
As you point out, Mariana was indeed the perfect character to be the Sacrificial Lamb for the story; with that said, I think I'd probably actually save her despite definitely preferring Gabe by virtue of being the youngest. Though personally, I wouldn't have outright killed her if I was writing the story.
In writing, there will always be the sacrificial lamb..it is what revenge stories are built on. The Last of Us. Kill Bill vol.1 and 2 etc. I would not feel to driven to kill badger if whiney butt Gabe had gotten killed...but Mariana? She was just a sweet little girl who did not deserve to die....so that gets you onboard with killing Badger. It is cheap and cliché but it works.
I can't say for certain, I really liked them both, I'd like to say that I would save Gabe. Mari was really likeable and I loved her but I knew Gabe would be interesting and wanted to see his character develop.
Of course I'd choose Mariana. Clementine deserves girlfriends, not boyfriends. Lol

Even though Gabe was alot more tolerable and almost interesting to me in episode 3, I'd still rather Clem have a girlfriend than hook up with Gabe (although I dont think/hope either is gonna happen, at least not yet).
But Clementine wont ever be into girls anyways, since she would become a carbon copy of Ellie from The Last of Us /s
Still not a fan of the season but
Mariana hands down. It would make interesting development, more than Gabe. Clementine can try and teach her tools of the trade, kind of like making up for Sarah in a sense.

Uh, yeah, no thank you. If there's one thing I appreciated about Mariana on the first playthrough, it was that they didn't try to make her Sarah 0.4--thank goodness! That alone made her better than Tripp and kept those 10 minutes of screentime from being uncomfortable as fuck.
I would save Mariana. She left a good first impression on me and seemed like a decent and smart enough girl from what little we interacted with her. I'm not a fan of Gabe all that much. I can definitely see some character growth in the future. TT would be foolish to miss that opportunity. But from what I've experienced so far with this guy is that he's whiney and underwhelming. He does things that pissed me off more than appreciate, I would give examples, but it would just be almost every scene in the game with him.
I meant from Clementine's POV, she didn't want to repeat what happened to Sarah to happen to Mariana. A interesting plot concept if ever taken to light.

Eh...I guess. I'd much rather they do that with a character that's not so close to being the same thing yet also missing the point of the original(again, like Tripp).
Mari, and I'm sure if this was something that was presented the stats would be heavily weighted towards picking her.
To add on, I believe both characters were very interesting in their own ways. I just wish I could've gotten to know Marianna a bit more. I would've at least liked to see her and Clem have a conversation or something. I like Gabe, he seems to be a pretty decent character. I just really liked Marianna. :P But that's exactly what the game developers wanted.
Yeah. I don't really mind Gabe. Compared to Marianna I like her more. But obviously not everyone likes her and I was just curious as to how many people would save who and why.
I would've chosen to save Mariana. She didn't have all the teen angst and ingratitude that Gabe has expressed.
I'm just going to cherry pick 1 character from each season to bring/keep in a new frontier
Season 1
Lee (too much of a badass and a definite guarantee that we won't be seeing clem dying any time soon)
Season 2
Luke (keeps clem on the right path and has a machete and knows parkour)
Season 3
Mariana (so onto the point of the thread, I would pick Mariana over Gabe because she keeps every bodies spirits up and is very intelligent and perceptive.)
