How to approach a live-action version of Telltale's The Walking Dead series

This is the spin-off to AMC The Walking Dead, that we should of got, but instead we got Fear the Walking Dead.

  • Simple: Never do it.

Why is "live-action" such a big deal nowadays?
The Last Airbender. Assassin's Creed. Disney does it too. The upcoming Uncharted movie. Who asked for this garbage? Videogames should remain videogames. So many people who say they like videogames act as if they need to be made into a movie in order to be "great". Why not start to value them as much as other forms of media?

  • The only right way to approach live action of TT:TWD is to turn around and walk away.

  • Everyone talks about making a live action adaptation but had many people talked about the idea of having an animated series about Lee and Clementine? It would be a great idea because the entire cast of season 1 can be in the show. No one will have to worry about hiring any live action actor for the role and plus Melissa Hutchison can have job security.

  • Screw live-action, I'd go for a high quality CGI movie with the original voice actors tho!

  • I remember thinking the same too, thinking the spin-off show might be on the video game. Fear the Walking Dead probably is okay, but I've no interest for it.

A live action could indeed work, as long as you've got the right cast and people working behind it, but I couldn't see it following the game story-line directly. The plot would have to be different to even the locations somewhat, but still carry the same themes like Lee finding Clementine and that father daughter dynamic being a factor, alongside having the group from the Motor Inn involved, that and Clementine wanting to track down her parents. Basically it could be a fresh take, without following things beat for beat.

It could work, and then it might not. If it were done right, it's definitely something I'd love to see someday.

  • What if they have a contest where the winner can submit their choices and that will be the choices used in the film/show?

  • Shut up and take my money! A CGI film would be awesome ;.;

  • No need for that. Telltale's games already are animated series with some quick-time-events. By creating a fully passive, animated series, you only cut away the already tiny gameplay aspect. What's the point of that?

  • Live-action adaptations are nothing but cash grabs. As a fan of Uncharted, I'm so disappointed it gets a live-action movie. THERE IS NO POINT because we already have an action-adventure franchise which is Indiana Jones.

  • Why is "live-action" such a big deal nowadays?

That is also simple, because this is the studio executives when they hear "live action remake."

  • Hi, just thought I'd way in on your "What's the point?" The point in doing a version. Of TTG's Walking Dead in other media would be to Share it with the world. Not everyone will play these games or anyothers. Personally I find these characters atleast as compelling as any Kirkman has composed. It would be nice to what these characters look like with say Cartoon Network or AMC maybe even HBO behind the scripts. To each their own but the point as it were, is Validation of our love for this version of TWD. Prolly best it doesn't happen though. Could easily go way bad fast! lolz

  • Because some people want to share their expierence with other people but these people don't play video games and think cartoon/CG is for kids mostly cartoon/anime so it has to be Live action -__-

  • They shouldn't! It would suck to only see the majority choices play out anyway, ie Carley being alive over Doug.

  • What about a spin-off set in Telltale's universe?

  • Telltale's universe IS a spin-off of the comic book. Same universes.

What about a spin-off set in Telltale's universe?

  • Well i think the better option would be to just Make a comic series of it instead of a movie or series .
Would be Nice if some stuff was changed if any of these suggestions actually came to happen Since originally Lily was supposed to go to Woodbury where the governor is and that got debunked because there was a new Backstory for the character in Woodbury that shares the same name then it would Be possible for Lily to hang around more like for example make it so that they just put the choice where they tell Lily to get in and that they will figure what to do with her later And instead of her just taking off then just have her Get a Redemption arc later on or something like that or as another example change the fate of other characters Like Katjaa having her suicide stopped and live on some more or Chuck not getting retardedly Killed off after giving Lee advice just to Die a few hours later offscreen.
If something like a live action series/Movie/Comic there would be opportunities to see some Characters have more depth into them instead of just a rehash of what we already known.
