I realize it isn't easy, but after experiencing a blend of Mad Max and Resident Evil for four years, I'd like to think she's faced things more frightening than David. Hopefully next episode can showcase some of her growth as a character.
I'm going to say this again since people keep saying it, it's not easy to break off a relationship if the person scares you and is abusive.

Kate obviously is frighten by David, which is why she most likely hasn't said anything about about ending their marriage.
Kate is actually one aspect of this season that I enjoy. She's a cute stoner chick and it's like being in a Rick/Shane/Lori situation but you're Shane.
With the flaws of their characters, it's great that you can feel strongly either way.
Agreed. Hoping we get a scene between them to give Kate some development.
Frankly, I think a fun twist to the whole situation would be David breaking it off with Kate because he'd built something with Ava in the four years he thought she might be dead.
I'm not comfortable with any romantic notions towards Kate. I don't trust her, nor do I respect her. If she doesn't want to be with David, I… more'm fine with that. She has more than one opportunity to simply tell David how she feels. This was obviously a break up long in the making since she flirts with Javier before the outbreak even starts. I have a strong distaste towards her wanting to run off with his son shortly after their reunion. Unless a man has been abusive towards his children, I can't see any justification in denying him from being in their lives.
David is no angel in this picture. He has anger issues. Kate finds him to be emotionally abusive. For whatever plot reason, he never tries to go back to the house for his family. City was overrun at that point. He assumed they were dead or if they were alive got out. By the sound of it, he saw some serious shit with Ava, and nearly didn't make it out himself since he would've been in a h… [view original content]

I think the main problem some have with Kate and her eagerness to pair up with Javier is that we don't really know whether David is actually being portrayed as abusive towards Kate in just one scene with them seen together. Is one scene alone really enough to consider David an abusive partner?
It doesn't really help that Kate doesn't really go into more detail with why she fears David either.

Yeah it would be nice if telltale gave us more details about what their marriage was like. They tend to not do a good job in general when it comes to us giving us info when it comes to relationships. Like last season we didn't get much about Kenny and Sarita.
I understand not liking Javier and Kate together but the hate towards Kate bothers me.

Kate's literally survived years in the apocalypse, meaning she had to do terrible or questionable things, definitely more challenging and difficult than breaking up with someone.

I agree. don't force this relationship on me... I turn her away at every choice and she keeps giving me those 'I love you' vibes, plus the white haired dude (you can tell how invested I am in a WD game, gg) that said the same thing. stop it. plus its disgusting! she's like my brother's WIFE. or used to, like wth

It's not that I don't like Kate, but in my main playthrough I tried to keep Javi from Kate romantically. Her husband (AKA your brother) is around and it's not my place to tell him I'm stealing his girl.
My biggest issue is with how they are forcing the romance. Pretty much going to quote my other post here:
They give the player options to reject her, then later act like you didn't. It's quite obvious they want to create drama from this whole "affair" but if that's what the writers want, then go with your pre-established setting. Don't give the player consistent option to act against it if it's not going to matter. It's been shown Kate was already sweet on Javier before the apocalypse and you could reject her. Then you could continue rejecting her in the present time, thus giving you the chance to play a scenario where this whole thing between them seems to have stayed one-sided. Yet they keep pushing it, Kate doesn't get it even if you choose every possible option to say "No!" and the other characters seem to think you two are romantically involved. They don't say things like: "Kate really cares about you." They say things like: "Oh, I thought you two were... you know..."
I'm almost certain they are going to force a conflict, even if you have done everything to avoid it.
This becomes extra obnoxious when I also dislike Kate. Like said, she was already trying to woo Javier before the apocalypse. Look Kate, it sucks if you're unhappy with your marriage and you're free to leave David and find happiness elsewhere. However, this is also when you confront your husband and/or take a divorce. You don't try to seduce his brother behind his back. It's not fair to David and it's not fair to Javier. I also didn't like how she was immediately ready to run off with Javier and Gabe and ditch David, shortly after Gabe was reunited with his dad. Not to mention Javier with his brother. Sure, David has some issues and he's no angel but.... damn. I really have no respect for Kate. She's a well developed character, I'll give her that, but I just personally don't like her.
Kate's literally survived years in the apocalypse, meaning she had to do terrible or questionable things, definitely more challenging and difficult than breaking up with someone.
I feel you are totally right!
I understand he just had Kate for 4 years.
But right now is the time for Javi to end his relationship with Kate and starting a new relationship with Eleanor!
It's complicated regarding Kate. David and Kate are the lifeblood of this Season. I very much like that Kate is an addition to TWD ( vehemently against the romance, but just as strongly for the option to have it if the players want to. I'm also for the option to romance Eleanor if people want that route.).
I completely agree that the situation we're placed in as players is that we don't know Kate's circumstance. We know what she says, and we've seen one scene that doesn't really lend much to her being afraid of him when his army glass is broken. She says at the time that 'he's going to be so pissy about it. It's so annoying.' I feel like if they were going the abusive route they ought to have given some fear to her words, or concern. To me her character comes off as more resentful. As for his bad temper, it's been displayed a lot of ways. Towards her in this instance, he's upset, she's upset, and that's about as far as it goes with him saying it's fine in the end, it was an accident.
There's a disconnect between what we've been shown, and what we've more or less been told. Do I believe that Kate could view David as emotionally abusive towards her? Absolutely. He might even be, but from that one scene, she's also shown to give harsh remarks towards him as well. In a lot of societies, I think that men are held at fault too quickly and more severely than women. I've been shown nothing to indicate that David has been physically threatening to her, nor honestly emotionally abusive. It just appears to be a failed marriage.
Yeah it would be nice if telltale gave us more details about what their marriage was like. They tend to not do a good job in general when it… more comes to us giving us info when it comes to relationships. Like last season we didn't get much about Kenny and Sarita.

If her husband was dead but he is alive that give him the right over javi for kate even if she like javi more than him she have no right of cheating her husband in the back or she will become the next lady everett.
if she don't want to be david husband she should agree on tha with david not to do it behind his back so he got pissed she know he got pissed very fast but she still going for it in an other word we can say its like jane puting a baby in a car to piss kenny and she already knows he got pissed fast but she still doing that to prove a point with the worst way that the same thing kate is doing trying to get away from her husband in the time when he really need her and and steal his son what a bitch.
If she is not married as you said than she should give up than calling her self a mother for david's son her motherhood feelings are lies bullshit if she care for gabe she should care that by stealing she Deprive him of his father from the fatherhood that he didn't get for a long time.
Well then just keep blowing her off...it is like real life...I had a couple of guys like Kate following me around during high school and bey… moreond. It is part of life...deal with it. Personally I like Kate. 4 years after the outbreak...she is not married any more.
Kate's literally survived years in the apocalypse, meaning she had to do terrible or questionable things, definitely more challenging and difficult than breaking up with someone.
I would honestly like to see Kate's development where, if the player consistently turns her down, she comes to realize that her attachment to Javier was really just born out of her own desire to escape from her implied dysfunctional relationship with David. Kate then recognizes that it's becoming a one-sided affair and is not exactly the most healthy relationship to have, and she decides to apologize to Javier for her behaviour and learns to be more open with what she thinks of her relationship with David, while learning to deal with her problems more independently.
I don't really want the writers to continue enforcing the romance sub-plot on the player if we keep declining her offer, and having Kate's character suffer because of it.

That's is akin to complaining that Javier is a former baseball player when you prefer football. The story they came up with has a love triangle or simply Your brother's wife prefers you as a human being than her husband...whether you do anything or not...that's going to cause problems.
If they added an optional romance then that would've been fine, but not when a romance is forced and the main conflict is probably gonna revolve around something that I wanted no part of in the first place.
Oh I agree...however...being tailored does not mean that you have override on story elements...you can skew story elements such as not returning Kate's affection...but she will always be sweet on you and that will hurt David's feelings.
Just as in season 1 you may have disagreed with killing Larry...but Larry is gonna die no matter what...but you made a choice on moral principles. You could be a cold hearted murderer and help Kenny or you could show some fucking compassion and help Lilly.
Now of course I will agree that they have made things worse by at least not having Kate feel bad that you do not share her feelings...but eh...I will get to that with my season review.
After 4 years of separation...no, there is no court or even moral judgement that would consider them married. But not being married does not mean she gave up caring for those kids and carrying on as their parent. That argument does not even make any sense as they thought David was dead...sorry kids...your dad is dead...no longer your mom...get the fuck out of the van. See makes no sense.

I personally like it because it's realistic.
I think this is the first time I've seen more haters than shippers in a canon ship.
Kate's literally survived years in the apocalypse, meaning she had to do terrible or questionable things, definitely more challenging and difficult than breaking up with someone.
Or even Asexual, maybe he doesn't want to fuck with anyone?
I just hope that she doesn't have a non-determinant line of Javier constantly coming onto her...

agree, she seems confused. its messed up that halfway into her marriage she love javy. it disgusts me, people with no morale.
at least rhys/sasha have chemistry and not awkward, confusing interactions! .. I actually supported sasha/rhys ship.....

Three things: People can get guns and other weapons easier than they could have before a zombie apocalypse
The group that David is involved with, shot Kate, and killed Mariana
David has shown to have a bad temper
With those things in mind I would think it would make it harder to tell David the truth
Well romance isn't just about fucking.

David and his people weren't an issue right away.
