Is **** Dead? (Episode 4 Spoilers)
So, by the end of Thicker Than Water a TNF soldier throws a molotov at the armored truck Kate was driving to pick us up. She determiantly runs over Conrad and hits a gas tank causing an explosion. Javi (obviously) believes she is dead, but is there any change she made it out?
We see no body and someone has pointed out we do not see her at the weel the second shot we get of the truck running into the tank. Maybe she made it to the back of the vehicle or something? If she is alive, do you think she got badly injured, perhaps permanently? Maybe got her face burned (Two Face Kate)?
I think Kate is the one of the best characters this Season (not that there are many to chose from), it'd be a shame to see her go.

Does Conrad die?
Wait. Conrad can get run over by Kate's vehicle by accident?
...Why do I find this funny?
If you fail the QTE to dodge the truck Conrad saves you and gets run over. He looked pretty dead.
Otherwise he makes it to episode 5!
Damn that's cool all the determinant deaths theyre giving him.
i wonder if theyll make a way for him to survive the season lol
I think they kind of wanted it to be a little ambiguous so that we'd have to wait until the finale, but given the fact that she just went through surgery a few days ago (more trauma to the body might be too much for her to take), she essentially smashes into the wall, has the tanker she crashes into essentially explode right in front of her, and that there's now a large mass of walkers heading straight towards her...
Sheesh. If Kate somehow makes it out of there alive, it'll be on Clementine levels of plot armour.
Needless to say though, things aren't looking too bright for her, I think.
I think we'll find her as a walker for shock-value
Why don't you worry about Clementine?
You like Kate? I thought you hated her? Or did I just imagine that or something?
Anyway, though, I reckon she'll probably live to see another day. If they really wanted to kill off the character, they'd have shown the body.
Oh, I hated Kate, but that's not mutually exclusive of thinking she is a good character.
Pre Episode 3 there was nothing to her other than being there to force romance and, therefore, conflict between Javi and David.
Episodes 3 and 4 added a layer of selfishness, self-preservance, and even a motherly nature over Gabe to her, which I appreciate.
(Replying on to my own comment since I'm an idiot and I can't figure out how to get text into the same field with that photo)
The front of the truck looks empty. Perhaps Kate had enough time to jump out of the truck or she fled to the back of the truck? The truck was armored so the explosion wouldn't have been that bad for her.
There's also a chance, that Telltale was lazy and forgot to add her into truck right before the crash.
But also allow me to remind, that there have been several characters who have survived almost certain deaths, like Kenny and Bonnie just for example.
And also, Kate is the only character besides from Javier and Clementine whose on the game cover art. So I'd imagine Telltale would want to keep them all alive at least for the final episode.
I hope she lives...we shall see in a month.
Conrad s confirmed best survivor he s the only triple determinant character in telltale history and he s also in the walking dead which never treats determinant characters kindly Conrad s a legend now .
molotov in front seat + crashes into wall + explosion
yeah, pretty sure she's dead. even lee had more survival probability.
Pretty sure they left it ambiguous on purpose.
Kate's gonna get lucky.
Real lucky.
Haven't played yet. Did they just kill her without resolving the Javier/Kate/David plot?
Kind of doubt she will make it out alive for the second time, and it's a tragic way to end too
I kind of accepted it
Shelly Shenoy who plays Kate, has nearly finished her lines for episode 5. So she must be alive with a burnt face.
Flashback, cough, flashback.
Hey...if she is dead...at least she went out baked!!
Fuckin hope so.
Because it is. That's almost black comedy, though I'm sure it's actually quite sad in context.
loool
I disagree. I actually thought she was the only character with any real complexity in Part 1, even if it isn't particularly obvious.
Eh...sort of. I don't think she's dead though, but that's another matter entirely.
Btw, what even was that ending?
Boy, that guy's really is ANF's Kenny, isn't he?
Agreed.
I'm sorry but I really laughed at that scene.
True.
I'm sure she didn't die but I'm sure we will be hurt
I hope she's okay...
It's not fair! I just had Javi confess his feelings!
If Kate makes it out of all that alright, I"m going to nickname her Kenny.
She is in an armored truck. Worst case scenario she gets a couple of wounds on her head from the crash and a couple of burns.
Thought I made a separate comment here, but I guess not. Ah well.
I sincerely doubt Kate is actually dead, as the timing and fashion of it was a little odd for this series. There are too many factors that make her an important part of this installment and I'd hope that her unlikely death here wouldn't come with the implication that now that Javier has decided whether he actually wants to be with her or not, she's outlived her purpose.
There are three options, she pulled a "Kenny in Savannah 'death,'" sh pulled a "Kenny in a car crash death" (albeit with more finesse...hopefully), or she pulled a Christa.
Vanished never to be seen again?
Exactly
Even QTEs matter, not just the decisions.
She looks pretty much dead. Accident+Gas+Explosion=Dead
Wow, Conrad can cheat death several times in A New Frontier.
He must be one of the best determinant characters of Telltale history in a long time.
