How was it a shitty thing to do? When you tell him you're not gonna go with his plan, he pulls a gun on Gabe and threatens to kill him other… morewise, even Gabe during the says to shoot him. He was completely nuts in that scene. Javier had no choice if he didn't want to hand Clem over to the New Frontier.
Plus, Gabe gives Javier shit if he does go with the plan back in Ep2 anyways.

She mentions how comfortable the place is, and maintains her doubts over the plan of going up against Richmond/facing the hoard. The writers here appear to have her go full Judas on Javi as far as willing to sell you out regardless of your choices.
Clem has been around since season 1. She also has aj to look after. Just on those two basis alone she's way more important and valuable than gabe. Hopefully gabe doesn't survive in the 5th episode. Javier says that you should try to save lives unless they're against you. I think pointing a gun at your head counts, so I don't really see his later words as hypocritical at all. In the zombie apocalypse, or ever really, if you point a gun at someone's family member's head, you're open season. They all know the rules of that jungle.

Tried to be badass and he did get his ass beat down multiple times and I almost died in this multiple times because of that little shit.

When you chose to spare Conrad, Gabe will be fine.
When you killed Conrad, Gabe will betray you and will be a totally shitbird I just wanna get rid off.

From what I've seen in an alternate playthrough, Eleanor still contacts Joan and has Tripp and Ava arrested, but she seems more uncertain about it compared to her determination if you killed Conrad. So, same thing happens, just with Tripp and Eleanor a little more angry in general.
