This can't be the end (NO SPOILERS)
After the end of Season 2, I've always said that the third season should be the final one in the series. Three Seasons of Five Episodes just felt like more than enough, while still ending it when it's still fresh. However, now we're already at the finale of ANF/Season 3, and I can't help but feel that this isn't how it should all end. I think that their should be a Season 4 now, however only if it's actually good. The last couple of episodes of ANF have been pretty great in my opinion, and the community seems to be enjoying them for the most part. If another Season is made, it'll only work if the quality matches these past couple of episodes or even better. Telltale seems to be finally learning how to not screw it up, and they seem to be putting more care into The Walking Dead Series instead of just making it with minimal effort to milk out the money.
Also, ANF doesn't seem like a very fitting ending to the series as it stands. The Walking Dead Game was the first form of fictional media to make me actually cry my eyes out. No, not tear up, but actually start crying like a baby. The Season finales usually have this effect on a lot of people, but I just can't see that happening with the finale of ANF. Maybe it's because of the weak start of the Season, but this is how I feel. ANF just doesn't really feel like a final season.

Considering that this is supposed to be a reboot, I don't think it'll stop here. I want it to end though as there's just no point to dragging this crap any farther into the ground.
I don't think Telltale has said this would be it. I think they'll keep doing this until TWD stops being popular.
I, for one, definitely hope so!
It isn't supposed to be reboot at all. Maybe a rebranding with the title, but that's like considering the last seasons of Aqua Teen Hunger Force reboots when they just changed the show's name each season. That's not accurate at all; this is a continuation of the previous seasons.
It doesn't have S3 in the title, Clem isn't much of a major character, and the narrative is mostly focused on Javier and his baggage.
It's a semi reboot.
Didn't they say it kind of was in an interview though? Like it'd continue the story, but because it was so 'new player friendly' you could consider it kind of a soft reboot? Or atleast a good jumping on point? I seem to recall something like that in the e3 anouncement interview or something.
The big problem I have with continuing is that I really don't know what else they can do with the series. I mean, I enjoyed episode four (and to an extent three), but let's be real - Javier doesn't exactly have the chops to carry this series on his back, and so far the supporting cast hasn't been nearly as interesting as past iterations have been. We don't have a Kenny, or a Lilly, or a Luke or a Jane to really relate to anymore. I thought either David or Ava would come close given their interesting conflict of interests with the New Frontier, but Ava's determinant now, and David... I've still got a bit of faith in him, since he's probably been my favourite new character introduced this year. But he can only do so much.
I know what you mean, though. Leaving it like this probably wouldn't be the greatest sendoff in the world.
The one thing I could think of that might make things smoother moving forward would be if they moved back to what made this series memorable for me in the first place - Clementine growing up in a world gone to hell. Maybe she'll find AJ, with her and Javi heading off to a ranch or wherever the hell that baby is now and leave it like that until next season. Or maybe, based on the background art, Javi will rise up and take over the New Frontier, setting us up for a different kind of feel in season four.
But... yeah. As it stands, I don't think I could see this series continuing. If the money keeps pouring in for other things related to TWD, then they'll definitely still be wanting to milk this cow dry, but I think by that point, a lot of people are going to stop playing.
This is perfect to continue imo. I myself have been hoping for a happy ending to the season with Clem, Aj and Javi at that ranch. Hell they could even add Kate and Gabe, make it one big happy family. And they then take it from there for s4, but taking over the new frontier and making it into a proper community could prove interesting too.
I agree with you, Episode 4 was a massive improvement but... it just doesn't feel like S3.
I know this will sound controversial but hear me out, maybe Season 4 could follow a completely new group, maybe around the time at the start of the apocalypse and have a Season 1 all over again with people trying to deal with the outbreak. Maybe have some more seasons like this to build up a cast of original characters from the games that can eventually group up with Clem. If they want to keep milking this series for cash for as long as they can, that would be the best way to go about it.
However Season 3 ends, let's face it if they carry with Season 4 still following Clem (and possible survivors Javi and ugh... Gabe) the series (with Kenny being lost now) would heavily depend on Clementine's presence. Season 2 rode on her and Kenny mainly, while the supporting cast just sort of floated around them. Season 3 is trying to distance itself from Clem, but not working so well because people know she's in the game and will want to see more of her.
Creating a new story (like 400 days, which nobody seemed to moan about concerning the lack of Clementine) with people being given a fresh start with gamers knowing this group will potentially be meeting with Clementine in the future, will allow them to play without rioting for Clem and when she finally re-appears it will be much more welcomed after a longer wait. Plus I can imagine people will be happier to see her in a group of people where you as a player have got to know well, or even played as, rather than Clementine meeting a bunch of support characters that will have to share the screen time with her and most will die and the few that survive will feel underdeveloped compared to this girl we've been with for three seasons now.
So yeah, my idea could be stupid, considering this series is built on following Clem and without her the game, no one will buy. I'd just like to see other characters given another chance. If Telltale can be creative and risky like they were in Season 1 I think they could pull it off and keep this series going longer, because no matter how likeable Clem is, she can't be the centre of attention forever, or she at least needs a good cast of people around her to keep things interesting. So rather than just rooting for Clem, you're rooting for the group as a whole, so the stakes feel higher.
Considering how disappointing New Frontier has been by the fans, Telltale will try to make the next season better if they read our feedback on how to make the game better:
Everything I can find refers to it as the third season.
That's why I'm waiting for the season 4. Hell yes.
I only agree with the last 3 bullet points. We already had a season where we get to play as Clem and the more "connections" we get to the comics the more we're going to have characters like Glenn and Jesus where they don't really impact the story as much and are only there for the fanservice.
They make all this incredible characters (especially Javier) and just end it here? No, I just cannot see that. Javi deserves more.
There's definitely going to be more, as much as I've enjoyed the walking dead i'm not afraid to admit its their cash cow and their gonna keep going till that cow is completely dry, especially if Clem makes it through the season.
