Pretty lazy by Telltale regarding Max
If you let Max live he doesn't even show up in episode 4 and we never hear from him, I was hoping they would develop him and make him redeem himself. Am I the only one who is wondering this?

Yeah, like WTF? I played the episode with a different save file and they didn't show up. I think Telltale will just forget about them.
I think Max was the one in the casket.
part of me wonders if this is because the "intended outcome" is for you to kill Max because of what would then happen during the ending scene. Therefore because of that potential they wrote nothing for Max
Would make sense to me for how lazy a lot of the writing and post decision scenes have been
I was wondering that too. He'll show up in episode 5, though, for sure!
I was wondering about Max, too. I was asking myself "Wait a minute... where is Max?"
Max will show up in Episode 5 and save the day with lots of "Anti-Joan"-New Frontier members by his side. Similar to how Ezekiel, Jesus and Co. saved Rick's group from Negan and the other Saviors in the latest episode.
I'm not judging this til ep 5 is done
It took me a while myself to realize that Max never shows up or is spoken of in Episode 4 if we spared him.
I'm hoping that he does show up in the finale and contribute to the story in some way. Would be a waste if he shows up only to be killed off.
He's only there if Javier/David killed him in the factory.
Yeah, I can see him and/or Eleanor doing that.
Then Max gets a plank and hits Joan/Clint who were attacking Javier and saying "Leave him alone" before getting shot in the head
Probably, his chances to survive this season are near to 0%
Care to elaborate? I spared Max's life and I assume he was the one who ended up in the casket.
Wait, which "casket" are you talking about? Because otherwise, Badger is the only to be displayed by Joan depending on your choices.
The thing is telltale remembered Max since he can (determinantly) appear in a casket at the end of the episode. Which puzzles me as to why he is completely absent if alive.
i dont think you ve seen the outcomes for saving Conrad...
Lingard can be displayed as well if you or Clem kills him. Didn't know if you knew so just pointing it out.
I did, but thanks anyway.
I would have been cool if he was locked up with us in the cell for betraying Joan.
Conrad is the exception, not the rule
I meant the one that Joan displays. Now on the second look, it seems to be Badger. I was too adrenaline-rushed I guess to really pay attention. (I smashed Badger's head in completely.)
I have, and he does have a number of ways he can die after saving him initially as well as surviving. But then it's clear the intended outcome is to save him. Again this is sort of emphasised by the lack of any additional decent story without Conrad there
Telltales thought process:
Intention = you save Conrad and get a lot more content. If you deviate then well we didn't want you to so we'll put fuck all into the game
Intention = you kill Badger, Max and Lingard for their personal treacheries. If you deviate then well we didn't want you to so we'll put fuck all into the game
Obviously Badger is pretty much a done deal because if you don't kill him then someone else will. But if you all leave and don't kill Lingard they leave him in a drugged out state so as to avoid needing to include him in the rest of the story
That's kinda what I meant by my original post
So...to address the complaints about determinate stuff not mattering much, they make the determinate really matter to the story?
That's an interesting way to address a problem.
Yes he will show up for 2 seconds and get killed without saying a word so they would not have to pay the voice actor.
