Why is Gabe such a little prick this episode?

  • Isnt the fact that Tripp got captured the reason she "betrays" you? She was with him before he got captured so you can presume: 1) she also got captured; 2) Joan blackmailed her to betray you, using Tripp's life as a bargaining chip;

The way I see it Gabe betrayed Javi's trust and (if Conrad was killed) it is heavily implied that's the reason Eleanor betrays the group, so

  • My thoughts on whats happening to Gabe storywise: I think this is much like a Kenny x Lilly situation in season 1 episode 2. You got hinted all through the episode how Kenny and Lilly were both trying to be leaders and couldnt see eye to eye. When the Larry decision was up, the way you acted impacted how both characters saw you (if you didnt support Kenny, he hated your guts up until the time to save Clementine and was a real asshole to you). I hated Kenny in season 1 and was surprised anyone liked him, then I killed Larry in a second playthrough and finally understood how he could actually be a pal.
In this season the game is hinting in the direction of you being there for family and steping up to fill the place of a parent in David's absence. The way this plays out with Gabe is this: the way you act around him make him closer to you OR hot headed like his father, and Conrad determinant is just like a Larry situation, i think. Since i did not kill Conrad, I have no hate for Gabe.....(my reaction to him might have been different had I killed Conrad in my 1st playthrough). Yes he is an annoyng teenager, but i don't hate him...

  • He's on his period.

    Oh wait, that's Clem.

    The only reason I'm still patient on him is because he makes clem smile....and I don't want that smile to go ;_;

Yeah, I actually shot a guy's best friend just for the safety of everyone (which included him being held at gunpoint) and he scolds me for that just because I don't think he should be in charge? This kid doesn't make a lick of goddamn sense.

So to sum up my feelings for the little shit (he was tolerable before for me):

It is just how he is. He is a whiny, ungrateful shit. I dont have a problem to leave him die in an optional choice. Being kid doesnt mean that you can fuck up everything and everyone. I dont care about David in that situation. His kid is stupid and unpredictable. For the greater good, he can die or go fuck himself.

  • I probably would have smacked him if given the chance.

    • He lunged out at a guy 5 times his size who didn't even know we were there. Javier gets stabbed and I yell at him
    • I saved his life by killing someone I really didn't want to kill and rather liked and he rats me to the guys best friend. Tripp now hates me with a passion and will probably try to hurt me next episode.
    • He's basically going to get Clementine pregnant if we let him continue on like an arrogant fuck.
  • Ava was really cool this episode, maybe one of my favourite characters now. I always thought she was going to be the one to turn on us. Kate was also amazing this episode, considering I didn't like her for the first 3 episodes, haha. I felt really bad turning her down. Conrad has always been great except when he went crazy over Clementine. Clint is meh, he's not really been developed that well as a character.

This comment got a chuckle out of me. Though I'd say Conrad, Ava, and Clint are exceptions.

  • That little shit better back off of Clem. I swear, if they put the legendary Clem together with this annoying kid together. Even worse, if Gabe survives and you somehow play him together with Clem.

  • btw pushing the truck looked hilarious. As if you would push some sort of giant softball

I just can't hate a child. I tore into him every chance I got, but I forgave him when we had to push the truck,

  • I WOULD chalk it up to trying to impress David and Clem now that they're in his post-apocalypse life, BUT he's been like this since the premiere.

  • Yes the cool uncle Javi and bad mom Kate lol

    Dangit, you beat me here.

  • Clem enjoyed that moment.
Like she felt she belonged to the family.

    He seems to have ADHD.

  • So much this. Conrad is a bigger piece of shit than gabe and eleanor combined.

I dont hate Gabe, I hate the way he is written, I hate the fact that he acts like a whiny teenager with no regard for the fact that everyone

  • Gabe reminds me of my nephews with ADHD. The same annoying behaviour but good heart.

Gabe is probably going to have to go through a complete face lift if he's ever going to get to the likeable stage. Hell, he's not even sympathetic or interesting to boot.

  • Fuck you.

Conrad deserved it for being such a massive dick. Don't put a gun to a kids head(and for christ sake's he kills two people if you don't kill or agree with him) and you won't die. Conrad deserved a bullet to the fucking head.

Frankly, that was way too merciful.

You guys deserved it for killing Conrad

  • I have seen plenties of douchebag kids his age.
My nephews with ADHD are like Gabe. But good heart deep inside.

  • No he doesn't deserve anything. Hes lost his kid already and now has lost his Gf and is losing his will to live except to help his friends which is what he was trying to and made a mistake while doing it.

  • Mari was like a younger Clementine. Clever and level headed.

Gabe should have died instead of Mariana. I know they wanted to shock us but what's the point? Mariana would have been a better friend for Clementine.

  • Every schools has annoying 13-year old students like Gabe.
    Gabe is realistic teen.

    AgentZ46 posted: »

People keep saying this but I just can't get behind it. Mari was likeable but that's really all she was. If Telltale kept her around it would've only been for likeability. Gabe is more interesting from a storytelling perspective.

  • You forget this is not just Clem's story anymore.
There are more stories and sides of different peoples with reasons of their actions.

    AronDracula posted: »

That's because Telltale wanted us to forget about the relationship between Conrad and Clementine they had in episode 2 if you spare him.

  • Tbh, Clementine's a fictional exception. Most of the teenagers are jerks. I was. It's natural. Something related to hormones and blah blah blah.
Thank God we can grow up and find ourselves haha

  • After reading all the hate Gabe is receiving, I think it's best for Telltale to just kill him. Obviously so many people hate him (I just dislike him), not to mention the teasing of a relationship between him and Clem (which I also dislike).

The simplest way I can see him dying is either taking a bullet for Clementine if you stopped him from following David or being killed by Joan or Clint if you let him follow his Dad to chase them.

  • Doesn't change the fact that he just threw me under the bus which makes me have no hope for him anymore.

That was something else I would've liked to have gone into with Kate up and at em again: How did such a free spirit become such a serious stepmom?

It's a two way street of failure, when you think about it. What they did to Sarah was spiteful, lazy, misaimed, and just sloppy in general and unfortunately, new characters like Gabe and Mariana were bound to create issues with certain people because of shit like that. Regardless of the fact that I actually enjoyed his presence for the most part(about 70% at rough minimum), I do believe that they'll just send him on his way along with the other Garcias, hopefully with a good bruisin or two for those who didn't get along with him.

  • My only issues with that is that it's non-determinate and pretty pointless in the episode proper when you think about it.

Well, to be honest. Shooting him was a bit extreme. I'm glad that scene happened, I loved it. I killed someone, and so I'm gonna have to pay for that. This episode did a really good job at making the choices feel so important.

  • Agreed.

  • Well, she came off as someone who secretly doesn't want to leave the past behind in a determinate conversation, but that's about it. Well that and potential hints of a superiority complex, but that's a stretch as well.

    AgentZ46 posted: »

I can know that because that's all we saw of her.

  • AJ wasn't, he was surprisingly cute.

Why was ever character horrible this episode

  • See, I was kind of getting behind him since ep 1 because doing the "teen angst" cliche can actually be done well if the writers are self aware enough to notice the cliche and build from that (the best example I can think of this being done well was in "Night in the Woods) However, they just made him into an asshole because writers think every teen is an asshole to everyone who isn't them because game.

  • ME and GAbe we're doing fine, then we got back and I've got the cut so I choose "I hurt myself", but what I end up actually saying was that GAbe made the mistake and got me hurt. THen he throws the fit. SO I don't blame Gabe, I blame the shitty response that came out when I chose to say the exact opposite.

  • For the real world sure but this is the zombie apocalypse. You don't get to make the mistakes you do if the world hadn't gone to hell.

  • I was actually starting to warm up to Gabe until he ratted me out about shooting Conrad. Now I could care less what happens to him.

  • That may be true, but Gabe spills the beans regardless of how you treated him. Which is especially dumb because, going by the pessimistic"Lazy Telltale" logic here, you spend a lot of the episode interacting with Gabe anyway, so him snapping like that could've easily been worked in as a determinant result of you constantly mistreating and/or shor-tselling him, again by those limited standards.
