What did you like in Episode 4?

  • I love the suggestion of this formula. I think it would be really interesting to see Telltale use each Episode to showcase a different perspective of control in the future.

  • The whole end scene. Might be the first time I properly enjoyed the game to be honest. I think i'm starting to get used to the shorter episode lengths as well. Tripp didn't seem like such a background character anymore. David stepping up and becoming the best character in the game.

  • Did you send Gabe to help his father, or keep him with you?

I kept him Gabe with Javier. Clearly David is out for revenge when he probably didn't think about Gabe's safety.

What would you like to see from him in E5?

Hopefully Gabe will apologize for what he said about shooting Conrad because I think Gabe was worried about what would happen to his dad. Gabe needs to be smart. While he acts strong, he doesn't think. I honestly can't think of anything that he can do as of now but I do believe has potential to kill walkers or whatever.

Are there any other flashbacks you'd like to see for E5, or do you feel like what we've been given has wrapped up the closer necessary?

I've always been waiting for a Christa flashback even though we never got one. I think we might get another flashback with Javier, Kate, Gabe, and Mari. But I do feel like we have been already given enough to know what's been going on with the Garcias.

  • I think Eleanor can redeem herself! If Tripp dies, Eleanor will probably feel a lot of remorse for her actions. If Tripp is alive, I think she'll try and get Tripp to forgive her. Clearly Richmond is not gonna be the same, what with at least one of their leaders dead and a herd outside just ready to break in, so her plan to stay at Richmond was pretty short-sighted anyway, which I hope she realizes. I love Eleanor! I want her to be my buddy in the end.

  • I think that David is the kind of guy who makes a great leader in a community, but now that Richmond has gone to shit, I doubt he would be able to survive on the road, he is very impulsive and doesnt listen to other people, I dont think David would be a good asset in a group

Honestly, I dont know what I want from Gabe, I feel like he is a doomed character because he is very unrealistic and dumb, in the way that he acts like a little offended child, but at the same time he screams that people should stop treating him like a child, and I feel like there is no way he would have survived on the road for 4 years while being the little bitch that he is.

I want him to stay the hell away from Clementine though, Im not opposed to Clementine getting in a relationship, but she needs someone that can be the opposite to her survivor mentality, someone who is kind, and can keep her sanity from going off the deep end, not someone like Gabe, who is whiny, doesnt listen to advice, and is very impulsive and angry like his dad, Gabe is the kind of person that is likely to get Clementine killed because he is angry that a walker bled on his shoes or something, not someone id like Clementine to be with

If David survives this season, which I hope he wont, I think Gabe should leave with him, they can find their new life together, and Javi Clem and AJ can leave a burning Richmond behind, boom roll credits, make season 4, Clem is the protagonist, travelling with AJ and Javi shortly after A New Frontier ended (please no huge timeskip again), and we go back to season 1 style story, where its about survival again, and distrusting versus trusting people, meeting people on the road

  • Sounds like it could be a good idea, but I feel like it could be a probelm becoming attached and immersed into the characters with only 1 episode, for example in season 2, I was very immersed in the character of Clementine, because we had spent a whole season with her, and knew what had happened to her, so I felt like I had a good idea of how she would react and handle things

  • I would absolutely love a Christa flashback, I feel like we know so little about her, considering she spent 16 months with Clementine, and frankly I think those 16 months could have been better contenders for the plot of season 2, although i am one of the people who loved season 2, and think that it was better than season 1 in some areas

  • I think the difference in the episode lengths not feeling as startling short has to do with including the hub areas, and the amount of time spent in conversations with the other characters. They didn't skimp on action, but it wasn't the main focus for the source of drama until the last act. The pacing was better this episode.

  • I really would've liked to have seen some underlying resentment from Clem if Javi continued to throw her under the bus at every turn, but I feel you on getting some real reactions from the other characters about our choices a Javier. That added some real weight to our choices.

Very few people seemed to appreciate Gabe being a 'lil shit' lol, but I think his heightened emotional state, and our reactions to it do add to the depth of the story. It puts us more in character as Javier, seeing some of his brother and some of himself in Gabe. Having the ability to express ourselves in different ways was fantastic.

  • I mean, I think one of the Telltale staff members said in the ep 4 AMA that Eleanor made the deal so she AND TRIPP could stay safely in Richmond. I think Eleanor has strong feelings for Tripp, even if she doesn't want a romantic relationship with him right now. Seeing someone that you once loved nearly die could be enough for Eleanor to want to try dating him again.

  • Best. Episode. Yet.

The Ava/Tripp thing has me actually furious. I was actually raging FIFA-style! After a long, hard think, I asked Joan to spare Ava, and that bitch shoots her?! Oh my, accept the offer or shoot Joan? EASIEST DECISION OF THE FUCKING GAME.

Another big shock was Kate's supposed death. But she died/left a hero, contradictory to my first impressions of her.

I'm so glad I spared Conrad in the tunnel. Because it really seems to have paid off.

My God though, Eleanor?! How the fuck could she?

See? So many good points and cliffhangers from this episode. Can't wait for the next.

Did Joan escape or did Clint run from David? What do you think they deserve/how would you handle their betrayals?

As reckless as it was, Joan was making my blood boil and I figured that we had more chances in a gunfight if everyone reacted quick than passing through the herd, even with Lee's trick it would have been incredibly dangerous and I doubt Kate's car could have made through it either therefore she ate a bullet and it felt satisfying.

As for Clint, I honestly have nothing against the guy, he's a puppet but he was starting to break free from Joan by proposing the deal and anyways, Richmond is getting overran with little chances to recover from it so my Javi only wants to get to a safe place with Gabe, Clem and David (you'll note that Tripp and Eleanor are not part of it. I would gladly shut a door to their noses, last thing I need is more tension within the group right now).

Clementine was happy because she found a family again.
Javi her father figure. This is seen as he giving her advice about her first period.
This is usually done by a mother, and if there is no mother, a father should do.
I like Clem and Javi got this very close relationship.

    • Gabe being a little shit. Annoyed me yes but it also added depth to the episode; made things more complicated.

    • Interacting with David. The dynamic between the brothers has always been interesting to me and became more fleshed out with this flashback. I also I liked how we had the opportunity to reaffirm the brotherly bond. I hugged him =P.

    • Everything in Lingard's office. Nice moments between Javi and Clem, getting to know more about Lingard, having a hub where we had freedom to add additional scenes to the episode (e.g. find pads for Clem or don't bother, take the medicine or put it back, etc).

    • Being able to confirm/reject romance with Kate. I was almost certain Telltale was going to force conflict between David/Kate/Javier regardless of my previous choices to reject every attempt she made towards Javi. I was pleasantly surprised when we got this scene to finally be assertive about our true feelings.

    • Joan's betrayal. First time the game goes "Trololoo, we are going to do the OPPOSITE of what you chose!" That was... damn.

  • That really does suit his character, and does well for the story dynamic. I think that background lends itself well to making Javier a more interesting character, as well as justifies a lot of people's behaviors around Javier ( Kate's, David's, and Gabe's. )

Definitely! Although I'm a bit worried what the climax will be of the story without Joan, having that option to end her then and there was amazing, as well as gave a real hero moment to Gabe. The Gabe that rushes that stage, and holds his father up while he's hanging from the noose is the Gabe I've been waiting for.

Kate's 'death' left me a bit mixed. It was the plot device that unleashes the hoard on A New Frontier, whereas I was thinking it would've been an interesting twist to have people versus people as divided as the community had become and as outraged as I expected them to be. But I'm holding off being disappointed until I see how that one wraps up in E5.

What are you most looking forward to seeing conclude in E5? Clem/AJ's story, David's pursuit, a resolution with Eleanor, something else?

  • If you treat someone bad, you will be treated the same way.

One of the things I hated from S2 was when everyone loved Clementine no matter what you do to them. In episode 4, everyone can love you or hate you depending on your choices.

David hugged me in one save and hit me on another. Tripp was on my side in one save and in the other one, he was angry. Gabe will remember if you tried to help David, and Kate will feel different depending on your confession.

I loved a lot of things on episode 4. But a lot of them were already commented here.

  • This was so much a call back to Season One for me, in the Lily / Kenny situation. I didn't realize how much I missed it until this Episode, but what a dynamic difference it makes not to be able to have everyone on your side. Of course I want someone to have my back, but not everyone. I need that inner group conflict.

What moment are you most anticipating for Episode 5?

If you treat someone bad, you will be treated the same way. One of the things I hated from S2 was when everyone loved Clementine no matte

  • Agreed. Still a highlight for me, and I'm hoping for more of his situation in the future. I'd really like TellTale to take this popularity of doing this with a determinant character and run with it. I know in the past they didn't want players to feel forced to go back and make that choice because its the only way certain people survive, but they can take to heart that I haven't.

Aside from Conrad, who was your favorite non-central character or a character that hasn't seen much spotlight that you hope to see more of?

I liked the fact that the scene in the square killed my diplomacy and brought out the angrier side of me. I just wanted peace.

Usually, I'm itching to kill the antagonist in The Walking Dead, but I wanted to take Joan down with my words instead.

    ...

But then she shot the person I tried to save so I went, "FUCK YOOOOOU" and shot her right afterwards. It made me lose my snarky composure and I instantly resorted to violence out of the rage of being fucked over. You know the episode is good when it makes you do something totally out of personal character.

Lingard's scene. The episode had been quite boring up until then, at least in my opinion, but that scene was really well done, aside from the whole period business. For a character that's only had like 5 minutes of screen time and barely any character in the last episode, his monologue here was really well done, and it had one of the only difficult choices this season to end it off on. That was when my opinion of the episode went from boring to decent.

    • I loved that sweet flashback with Kenny where I was able to give him one last hug. :'(

    • Telltale giving the players a chance to tell Kate how they felt once and for all. I saw quite a few forum members giving negative feedback since they felt that they were being forced into a romantic relationship they wanted no part of. It was nice that they got the chance to set things straight while I got the chance to confirm my feelings for her.

    • The choice between Ava and Tripp backfiring in the player's face was a refreshing twist that was done very well in my opinion.

    • Getting the chance to explore a few hubs.

  • And if you noticed, they fixed Jane's model so she don't look as weird before.
