The Walking Dead issue 167 Discussion
So some big things happened in the latest issues. Spoilers are here, obviously.
So, there was a MASSIVE parallel in the latest issue of twd between Carl and Clem. It almost looks like it was on purpose.
1. This scene right here practically confirmed that Clem is going to live forever. I loved this scene and it was damn well powerful.
2. This scene greatly parallels a scene that just happened in the latest issue of twd.

Clementine is a Grimes.
Lol
He's been writing Andrea for 14 years and 167 issues. That was a powerful send off for one of the best and longest lasting Walking Dead character ever.
Only two of the Atlanta camp survivors are still alive. Only two characters from the very first issue are left standing. Amazing issue and a beautiful, well-deserving death.
It's very sad to see that there is only 2 still standing. Rick, and Carl. It's very, very sad indeed. At least in the TV-Series (I know they haven't reached this point yet, but they're getting closer) there are 5 (I think) survivors from the main group. The Atlanta 5... Huh.
R.i.P Andrea. That was a fantastic send-off.
Sophia is still alive.
And her 'mom' Maggie Greene.
She ain't from the original group though.
Rip Andrea one of the greatest characters of all time both men and women.
Your legacy will life on.
You were one of a kind i will miss you.
True, so that means 3 from Atlanta, but only 2 people from Issue 1 are alive (Sophia debuted in issue 2).
Honestly, for a character that was written for a whole 14 years, her send off was pretty well done and my eyes actually welled up a little bit.
People complained...and complained...and complained at Kirkman's lack of bravery. Well, there ya go. Atlanta survivor down.
Hell of a character that's been around for a while, and I'll miss seeing her snipe those good-for-nothing Woodburians for years to come.
I know The Walking Dead has been under fire here lately, but come on. That was fucking great.
R.I.P. Andrea 2003-2017
;______;
RIP.
(My second thought after RIP obvs was how this is gonna go in the TV show...pls dont kill Michonne, I love Danai Gurira with my life)
I actually liked it, it was pretty heartfelt.
Something I found really interesting is that Kirkman seems to be projecting quite a lot onto Rick in this issue. In the little note at the end, he states how he is really conflicted by this and that he could have changed it at anytime. Rick refusing to kill Andrea shows the same dilemma, which I thought was really smart. Her death was a cool metaphor for how much the group has really bounced back. The last Atlanta survivor got his head mercilessly bashed in by a madman. Andrea was able to peacefully pass in a bed, talking to the man she loves. It was a really sweet send off to Andrea, although a little strange how Dwight is able to hold off all of those saviors at the gate for almost a full day it seems, although I won't fault Kirkman for this. This was Andrea's sendoff and she deserved it.
That was an excellent issue. Andrea's death was one of the hardest in the series. She will be missed.
I wonder what is going to happen now with the saviors. And I wonder if Rick would like to haunt down Beta because of this.
I wasn't expecting Andrea's death to hit me so hard...it was such a sad yet beautiful send off. RIP.
Btw, I also noticed the parallel between Carl and Clem in this issue and i found it awesome. (I ship those two).
Fucking BEAUTIFUL.
People complained and complained and complained. Even when Andreas is bitten, the people complaining about it were just talking about how Kirkman ain't got the balls to do it and were so fucking convinced that it was a fake out. How Eugene actually cut her. They were so. Fucking. Convinced.
Then she dies. And they're silent.
Thank you Kirkman for writing a fantastic send off to a fantastic character.
NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!
As sad as her death was, I'm kinda glad we finally had a major character death after such a long time. It's issues like this that define what the TWD truly is about: loss, pain, suffering, but also hope, love and friendship.
Overall a great issue, 10/10.
Two hothead kids and Carl's raging hormones. These two would cause havoc. Imagine these two blazing through the Savior's compound in all out war? Yet again, I don't think a 12-ish Clem would be ready.
Carl is way more aggressive than her, but I can see Clementine being the one to calm him down during certain situations and stop him from doing anything stupid. Sort of like a moral compass.
I enjoyed the issue and I don't mind admitting I shed a tear at Andrea's passing.
Yet at the same time I hated it. The death wasn't done to service Andrea's character, it was done to service Rick's.
And you know what. I give it a year at best before Rick is with Michonne to bring the comic and TV show into synch.
