Oh my gosh, yes. Gabe can be so annoying if you don't appease to him at all times, reminds me of a more obnoxious version of Kenny from Season 1. In my playthrough he's okay, but that's mainly because I kept Conrad alive and therefore he had no fuel for the fire.
In my playthrough, I remember telling Tripp that I shot Conrad. So yeah, I was VERY pissed off during this scene! Gabe is on my BIG shit-list, I really hate this kid for that. I don't think I hated a TWDG character this much since Bonnie.
I hate how Gabe smiles about making that remark to Javi. He brings up Conrad being killed and cracks a fucking joke, what a piece of shit. I hate the fact our playable character is related to this kid.
I actually find it unsettling that people hate Gabe to the point that they want him to die. I can understand hating people like The Stranger or Carver, but Gabe? He can be an obnoxious, punk teenager at times, but being obnoxious and a punk isn't worth warranting disgust and death to me.
No. It's on the writers to actually do a decent job with the fallout from our choices, not expect us to maybe go back and change a choice so a horribly thought out scene doesn't occur.
Lol and people ask why so many people don't like Gabe. I think this answers their question. See i can tolerate people mouthing off, arguing with other people (Kenny anyone?) so long as i trust him or her but what Gabe did was a break of trust and unforgiveable really and at the worst possible time. Trust and loyalty are the 2 things i stand by the most if i was ever put in a ZA world.
This is why this scene is so bad, nearly all players I see go "...really why?" and then look at the camera, it comptley takes them out of the immersion as gabe does something so ridiculous and unlikeable, immeditaly leading into tripp and elanor acting irrational and it just stops anyone caring whatsoever.
The sad thing about Gabe is that I was rather tolerant of him throughout the series and was starting to like him in Episode 4 due to his determinant scene of rescuing his uncle from prison.
...And then this scene happens after Javier receives a shoulder injury because of Gabe's recklessness. I'm an uncle myself, and I felt so frustrated for Javier that this is how his nephew treats him after saving his life from a lunatic holding a gun to his head.
Not adult either. I never hated Ben either, he meant well, and never gave anyone shit. He just messed up and made wrong calls. That's no reason (for me) to hate somebody.
But Gabe? Oh boy.
I actually find it unsettling that people hate Gabe to the point that they want him to die. I can understand hating people like The Stranger… more or Carver, but Gabe? He can be an obnoxious, punk teenager at times, but being obnoxious and a punk isn't worth warranting disgust and death to me.
Maybe betray clementine and side with a lunatic....no thanks.
Still I guess I was wrong to save gabe and even try to give him a chance hes just pathetic
So someone at Telltale put this in on purpose right? For what reason I wonder? Those that get this outcome see Gabe doing this and being proud of it, making him completely unlikable and practically unredeemable. A character that by all means TT wants the player to root for. TT seems to imply that Clem and him will have a nice relationship (whatever that may be) and encourage him to be a man and start to truely care about his family including Kate. So why this? Will he apologize later or maybe make it right? I hope TT doesn't expect us just to forget about this or disregard it because some people didn't get this scene.
Clem doesnt care only because of terrible writing, there should always be consequences to both sides of a choice, but currently, there is no consequence for keeping Conrad alive, and all teh consequence for killing him.
And no Clementine does care, the reason she never brings it up is bad writing, do you really think that Clementine would just let that slide? after she trusted you with the fact that she was new frontier previously? after we have seen how many issues she have trusting and confiding in people? no, its completely out of character, and the only reason nothing comes of it is bad writing
Honestly having Gabe do that was an extremely risky move and I'm not sure what they were trying to accomplish with it. With all this Gabentine teasing coming from staff I expected for them to have Gabe redeem himself in some way and make him much more likable and acceptable to the fans, that way they'd be more willing to let Gabentine happen but it seems like they did the exact opposite.
Also let me mention how the whole scene didn't make sense at all. While in that tunnel Gabe literally yelled at me to shoot him and Gabe even put his hand on his gun when Conrad threatened to shoot Clementine. Also he fact that if you DON'T shoot him, Gabe calls you a "fucking coward." That whole scene was just stupidly forced.

eh not really bipolar id say more depressed and reckless much like Kenny except he doesnt known clementine as well as Kenny did so to him she s just some girl who ocasionally appears in prescott so its not really farfetched to think that since he s depressed and is being very reckless he might do something retarded like that ((before someone mentions the game over screen Conrad has then i raise you a mike murdered clementine and Lee let her die in episode 1.))

I almost want to say that Gabe is written to be hated, but the writing on his character is so inconsistent
Also, most of the writing concerning Gabe is super unrealistic and bad
Stupid teenagers ignore you and listen to hard metal and slam their doors, they don't betray you after you saved their own fucking life countless times. He's an ungrateful prick and he's certainly taking on more from his father than Javier, which is exactly what Kate feared would happen.
As much as I hate to say it, I feel this is one of the consequences of the constant shift of writers between episodes. I feel like this scene exists because the person working on it had different ideas than the person that wrote the Conrad scene/choice back in episode 2 did, resulting in a disconnect.
For example, Gabe's dialogue during this scene has him say "He tried to bargain with you. But you thought killing him would be easier."
However, we can recall that back in episode 2, Gabe wasn't too happy about Conrad turning on Clementine, tells Javier to shoot him, and chews him out for betraying Clementine if you accept his plan. Gabe's dialogue in episode 4 makes the Conrad choice sound like a different situation-- what Conrad did in episode 2 isn't exactly what I'd call bargaining, especially when he's using Gabe himself as leverage.

Look at that stupid smile. Seriously, fuck this little bitch.
I fucking hate that cunt

Maybe save Conrad so you don't have to go through this scene? clem doesn't care anyway and doesn't bring it up in the later episodes.
Holy crap, the comments on this thread! God..
What? You never seen comments like this before?

I honestly didn't think he would be so smug about selling out his uncle like that until I saw this video.
What a brat.

I sure have. It's shocking.

Finally you get to see something true. He is the first kid that I actually hate. I never hated Ben (Not a kid, yes, but still) Duck or Sarah.
Well, you shouldn't be surprised, boss.

You were expecting some positive comments after this little stupid statement Gabe has mentioned in this video? Gabe is a terrible written character.
The only thing which makes me hate the characters is the betrayal.
I just don't hate him like others do. Yeah, I was angry at what he did, but I forgave him. He's a stupid teenager, that's all I see him as.
Welp...he's not your/my/our true nephew
You wouldn't be saying lunatic if you kept him alive to episode 4
Clem have seen way worse stuff than the nephew uncle bull shit between Gabe and Javi.
So of course she doesn't care.
Hes bipolar maybe? given how much he changes overnight....who knows? Still in that scene hes insane and holding a child at gunpoint

The Three Stages of Anger with Gabe Garcia:
Stage One: Whatever
Stage Two: Annoyance
Stage Three: Nope, Not Doing It
Gabe: "You shot the man in cold blood!"
Me: "How about I fucking shoot you in cold blood to prove a fucking point?"
Honestly having Gabe do that was an extremely risky move and I'm not sure what they were trying to accomplish with it. well probably cause people we re complaining when episode 3 got released that they wanted a reward for shooting Conrad so they made that ´´Reward´´.
Surely these 8 different writers per episode is clearly going well...
