Stop hating on gabe - READ FIRST -
Ok. Before you downvote, hear me out. Gabe can be a little shit. No doubt. BUT. I'd like to remind people that the walking dead is realistic right? Well, in a world where you can die just by walking around the god damn fucking corner people like gabe are common. Reasons for his actions? Puberty. He's obviously going through puberty, and with the amount of emotions and thoughts running in his head living in a world like this, where you can't live a normal life, not only the problems like that but losing your little sister and almost your dad through a 4 year process, will do things to you, so his actions are bad, but in his position you'd probably know why. Along with the fact that he knows he could get shot and murdered any second with the new frontier, plus his family not accepting his help its hard. Her was mad at javi in episode 4 because he couldnt protect his sister, and he felt guilty and he wanted to be there to help javi and that, but since he said no he thinks it's not fair, and went off about the whole conrad thing, (if you killed him) but also once again puberty, emotions. So just saying, you can be mad. But, I've seen legitimate death threats toward gabe, and this is a 13 year old we're talking about, come on. You can be mad, but have some perspective yknow. Feel free to upvote, downvote or whatever, but its just m,y opinion. Btw he can be a little shit, no denying there, but have perspective and a little understanding. Have a good day!

Feel free to comment btw
well you just commented so you kinda did what i asked
Exactly and Gabes actions and behaviour are not realistic. Betraying the group and causing constant problems is not realistic. In addition gabe is pretty deserving of the hate as he has pretty much every controversial characters negative traits without the positives, Duck's stupidity without his positivity, Ben and Nicks foolishness without their guilt, Kenny's anger without his loyalty, Janes "I know best"/baiting without her level head, Sarah's naivety and daddy issues without her innocence. Gabe is just all around dreadful and the fact he survived this long is ridiculous, he should have been killed long ago if he acts like this.
It's obvious people hate on Gabe because he breathes the same air as Clementine.
Gabe is a moody teenager and he is as annoying he can, and that's perfectly fine in terms of realism and logic. Hell, Ben was annoying too sometimes.
That is actually a really good way to describe Gabe.
Clem is more cornerd that him she had a baby to take ir of and she never been a bitch about.
Mariana was yonger and gone through the same thing he gone through but she never been a problem or had to shit on kate for no being her mom or to shit on ppl around her but gabe was a shithead even when he was a young kid till now he didn't give his family a break.
Sahra had the same problem as gabe her dead got killed on her sight and got cornerd till the point she lost it but she didn't go like fuck you ppl my dead got killed and you didn't do a thing but gabe his father its not even dead yet and ppl around him planing to save his dad but he goes lto shit on them like his the only one who care about david not just that he even make the things worst by saying that javi shot conrad and he make a stupid joke at the time that motherFucker good on only one thing to talk an unhelpful shit in unhelpful time.
You're a bit behind the times with the downvote comment seeing as this was removed years ago lol.
But anyway sorry you cannot tell us not to hate Gabe or any other character. Same as we cannot tell you to not like him
After reading your points I'm not impressed hence my hate toward Gabe continues.
Ben happened 3 month into the apocalypse, Gabe, who is worse, happened 4 years into the apocalypse
This is just bad writing, we can't compare S1 glorious writing to whatever failure of plot consistency S3 tries to present.
I don't see any sense in threads whose objective is making people to hate/like/stop hate/stop like characters.
I did not killed Conrad. I did not get that scene where Gabe tells the truth and I dont hate him like other people do. I'm sure that people who chose to kill Conrad and got this scene will hate Gabe for telling the truth.
If you did not like a character when you were playing episode 4, I doubt reading a thread could make any difference.
Its very annoying at this point. A lot of people saying "You gotta love Gabe because..." or "you gotta hate Gabe because...". Gabe did not betray me, so I'm not going to hate him. And the people who were betrayed by Gabe are not going to love him.
The only one who can make any of us to love, like or hate Gabe is himself in the game. I dont think a thread can change that.
I appreciate what you are trying to do because I like Gabe, but things dont work like that.
It really bothers me that people defend Gabe by calling him a teenager. I love Gabe as much as anyone but his character is so much more than a stereotype.
gabe's character had so much potential not only to grow but to gain a fanbase and i honestly hope they can try to change his character positively in episode 5, though i'm doubtful.
Just to be clear, you cannot make a legitimate death threat against a fictional character. We're not speaking of a real 13/14 year old boy. I understand the desire for some people, particularly around his age to relate to this character in that they are thrilled to have someone in the game that shares something in common with them. However, if this is how you view Gabe - you're selling yourself short.
The ' typical teenager ' troupe used so frequently in the media formats of today really needs to go. They are so much more complex than raging hormones, and angst. They have so much more to offer than fits of emotion. These things, while they do exist in everyone even adults, are certainly not the sum of the whole.
I don't hate Gabe. I hate what the writers have done to Gabe - or more importantly not done. He's a caricature more than a character. The writers short changed his development - a few seconds on the death of his sister, a brief flash of a reunion with his dad that they should have spent more time on... He should've been given more moments to showcase his range - as a big brother perhaps protecting or protective of Mariana in the junkyard, as a son - if you're going to play the ' you're not my mother ' card, then don't use a half measure. They could've done a ton with this one - showing how he missed his biological mom, if he was close to her, or how much Kate's own desire not to be a mother affected him while growing up and he resents her for it.
There are so many missed opportunities with Gabe. Firewallcano illustrated this well - the writers failed him. For those that like Gabe, by no means am I arguing that you should hate him, but the way to alter people's perspectives isn't to tell them their feelings aren't as valid as yours.
Incase you don't know what puberty is, it changes your emotions and actions for the worse, so his actions are as real as they can get. And he hasn't been like that forever, at most for 2 years.
Well Javier was there to protect him, and I doubt they had many run ins with bad groups before, so when the new frontier were introduced, that's when it went down hill. Notice how only 2 people from javi's group have died so far (not including Conrad) and they were both deaths from a new frontier. Javi saved the entire group with his quick thinking of climbing up the roof to escape the herd, there are many non canon death where the entire group dies if javi fails, and he also did most of the hard work for keeping his people safe inside of Richmond and bringing the fight to Joan, which only resulted in 1 death (if Kate lives). So I think it is safe to assume that Gabe is still alive only because Javier was there to protect him.
Lol
Actually, I'm a teenager and everyone I know my age is a raging full of hormones we often try to control ourselves and laugh it off, but we still hate everything and everyone. Which may be why I kinda overreact to some comments around here, which I really do not want to do
So why did you say Gabe was unrealistic because he is acting out of his emotions caused by puberty?
Please avoid bumping your own threads asking people to comment; it's better to let discussion unfold naturally on its own.
But you wouldn't fuck a family member over for a death of a stranger, would you? Especially when you screamed for his death in that moment.
Well Javier did murder Conrad when he was just offering a deal that made sure that everybody would leave alive. David also got captured and Javier was telling Gabe that he cannot get involved as much as he wanted to so that also made him mad, having his uncle tell him that he can't help save his dad, so I would have done the same.
Because its not puberty.... I mean what the heck?
That's pretty low, given the precarious situation they were in. Compromising a group for selfish reasons is one of the major points why most people hate Gabe. If it was important to him to save his dad, he'd listen and work WITH them, instead having a fit when Kate and Tripp say he isn't invited.
Besides, that doesn't change the fact that Gabe shouted "This guy is crazy, shoot him!", and if you didn't, calling you a "fucking coward". So he's a hypocrite on top of that.
And let's be honest, I don't think Conrad's concern was medical help for Kate in that moment; that was just an incentive to convince Javier to take another group member hostage. It is debatable whether to shoot Conrad or not, but Gabe's actions are not debatable in my opinion.
He's 13-14 years old of course it is. Do you even know when puberty in a boy starts?
I like to put myself in the characters situation. So if your dad gets taken hostage and you don't know if he is dead/alive or worse, and your uncle tells you to stay out of it, you wouldn't get just a little bit angry? Because I would be very angry, even Gabe has a way of saying that he regrett d what he did when you are in that hub looking for the truck, meaning that he said it in the heat of the moment.
Being angry or not is one thing. Actually compromising the group by being reckless another.
I don't deny I might be pissed, but I wouldn't blurt out what happened and potentially risk the whole plan and doom my own dad with my own actions. What Gabe did was risking the entire thing, risking his father's life, just to make himself feel better in that moment.
Betraying your family, endangering your father and acting completely irrational to the human race in behavior is not puberty dude, and yes since your not getting it I know what puberty is because im older than 7.
Gabes behaviour is nonsensical and irrational, all teenagers dont act like he does
Puberty affects your hormones, making you very angry so of course he would have that outburst. And puberty in boys doesn't happen at 7, it happens at 10 you are thinking about females.
I....Christ dude whatever, its not puberty. Your clearly not getting it.
What Firewallcano is trying to say is, that not puberty is to blame for his behaviour, but something else.
Then what do you think it is, then? It better not be a shit excuse.
I put myself in the character's situation often, and do you know what I would've done? Probably dropped enough F-Bombs to nuke the game into new rating system. It would be that moment I finally 'got' where my dad was coming from saying my uncle couldn't be counted on. If Javier had chosen to romance Kate, I would've spit in his face and told him I thought he hoped my dad would die there so he wouldn't have to feel bad about hooking up with her. If Javier didn't romance Kate, I'd lash out at Kate saying I thought she hoped he would die there instead. In that blind rage I'd have said I'm going whether they liked it or not, and stormed off.
Would I have still made the situation worse? Yes. I'd even be putting myself in danger, and might've forced a change in plan. Naturally the game would've had to tone down that language, but I feel more like the writers were just trying to find an excuse to have that choice revealed to the group and couldn't come up with anything better more than it was something that would've naturally been said.
It's Gabe's rotten personality bro
And a good explanation of why people will forgive those other characters but not Gabe. The only positive trait is that he has a stupid level of bravery.
I'm a little late, but after playing EP4 for the first time today, it's hard not to hate Gabe now, puberty or not. I always gave him chances and hoped he would improve as a character, but in EP4, he just proved to be a disappointment. Especially how he turned on Javi if he killed Conrad. It's like Gabe forgot the fact that Conrad didn't think his life was precious and was ready to kill him and put Clem in danger. Gabe may be the most foolish character in The Walking Dead game series.
Venting aside, I do hope Gabe redeems himself somehow in EP5. He's still young and has years to grow and get smarter about things.
Oh it's pretty obvious they made him a shit so that he can have a big hero moment in ep 5. The real question is will people accept it.
And why do you think he has that personality? He certainly didn't have it in the episode 1 and 3 flashbacks. And even javi says in episode 1 that he is emotional because of his hormones.
There are few things you need to think about before writing a post like this.
1) He nearly got Javi killed after he was trying to "prove he was a man like his dad" by atacking one of the guards. Again, Javi saved his ass.
2) Few minutes later he threw Javi under the bus by snitching on him and making a big conflict between some of the members of Javis group.
3) Argues with Javi about getting the truck, instead of listening and thinking about what amount of shit he's done in one day, hes trying to do another shit.
(That dumbass even told me to shoot Conrad, suddenly he is all against Javi).
If you like Gabe, then let it be like that, but the amount of hate hes getting is what he deserves. I wouldnt even mind him being with Clem but hes way too dumb and unlikeable for me.
(also puberty has nothing to do with this, the way he acts would get him killed in the first week of the apocalypse).
Honestly, I hope he dies in 5th episode.
Sorry but Gabe is never gonna be a likeable character for me.
