i don't think that she was poorly written, but she was kinda just there. i honestly didn't really care about her and they probably kept gabe alive for an ideal reason
Keep in mind that Sarah and Gabe's temperaments and situations were very different: namely that Sarah was more docile, was constantly kept out of the loop, and never really got the chance to do anything.
Kinda hard to be "useful" when a bunch of able-bodied adults don't even tell you anything half the time.
i feel the same way, considering that sarah is not even mildly useful. though gabe has also made mistakes, he's still been useful at times, and could improve in the future.
So do a lot of characters, doesn't mean they'll actually be able to pull it off when it matters.
Honestly, Mariana always came off to me as being somewhat apathetic to the conflicts of the world and only cared about the little things. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing, mind you, but it's been pretty clear to me since the beginning that she and Gabe had the training, but neither were particularly active due to Javier's spoiling and Kate's regulations allowing them to just coast their way through life.
And I always had the impression that most of you guys were over-idealizing her immediate capabilities because of how easy she is.

will i stop saying something just cuz it pisses one person of?
I won't stop pointing out what people say which doesn't make any sense.
it obviously makes sense to 3 ppl who upvoted me.
And 3 people upvoted me as well.
I think you just don't want to listen to anyone or understand the situation. If you hate Sarah and Gabe, fine but I don't see how these two character connect to each other.
And stop using this word "retard" cause this word is not fitting for an innocent little girl who has PTSD. Use your mind if you want to be a man UNLIKE Gabe.

And then you got Gabe, who instead standing up for Javi when Tripp gives him shit, he does nothing (and of course causes that shit in the first place).
They weren't, since they both came back from... peeing. After Clementine got smacked and Sarah said "Leave my friend alone!" or something along those lines, Carver gave the order to tie them up again.
He was referring to Clementine specifically. He ordered Troy to tie up Sarah immediately after they came back and he was finished by the time Carver determinately slapped Clementine.

I would argue more that Gabe was given poorly written scenes than character. We cross instances that should have been explored in more detail but the drama is rushed through in favor of faster pacing toward the action aspects of the game. Javier was given some great moments to flesh out his relationship with his brother, and instances to interact with Kate that have lead him to be more popular than he was initially by far. The same is swept aside for Gabe in favor of a few seconds on screen.

The only scene with Gabe that I truly like is when Javi, Gabe and Ava (determinant) went to the armory.
I don't know why but when Gabe asked Javi about 'How could we trust someone' I think that would play a big role for Gabe's character development in episode 5.

Yeah, that's one of the parts I really enjoyed considering one of my nitpicks and concerns at the end of the previous episode was the fact that Gabe isn't really given much attention if you go with David's plan and his first meeting with his dad's right hand basically amounts to her pointing at the house and getting Javier to leave as soon as possible.

That's exactly right. With all due respect to Javi's character, he did such a good job protecting his family up until the season started that Gabe and Mariana never actually NEEDED to defend themselves all that much. That's why Gabe never really learned how to survive on his own. It was because he had both Javi and Kate's protection for the better part of 4 years since the initial outbreak.
it's because Gabe always been in that van and he's really never been alone for the apocalypse and always had people to rely on unlike Clem who had to rely on herself to stay a live.

Was she? Or was it the fact that she got out as soon as possible?

She acted like she knew how to manage things.

you dont have to, i ignore 99% of ur posts anyway
Just stop being denial, okay? I'd hate to have the same attitude as yours.
thats okay, each their own. i personally would hate to be retarded like sarah & gabe.
i need jesus
He isnt "poorly written" hes just an extremely annoying character.
EDIT: New plan: every time you say retard, I'll post this video.
No, you need a new brain.
k, have fun getting banned again
How? I didn't do anything bad.
who needs a brain when you got a big penis like me?
Yeah, Sarah stood up to Carver when he smacked Clementine. That took some brass.
Such an underrated scene.
And then you got Gabe, who instead standing up for Javi when Tripp gives him shit, he does nothing (and of course causes that shit in the first place).
Oh yeah, that's also a point worth noting. Especially given that she was tied up at the moment.

Yeah, I get that feeling as well. Granted, you could also argue that multiple scenes can make a poorly written character as well.
Mariana didn't get any chance to be written well. Showed promise and then wasted

Episode 4: Thicker than water
Bc it is important to know how Clems puberty is going

yup. mariana was way more likable
Uh, not to be break up any positivity here, but don't you mean "Mariana didn't get any chance to be written poorly"?
Haha both incidentally!! She didn't have time to be written well and she didn't even have time to be written poorly lol
Okay, just making sure I was looking at the right guy's comment. And that really is the best way to put it too, so kudos!
