If he's an interesting character and isn't just another standard "nice guy" like Luke, I'll probably enjoy playing as Javier. Although whether he's good or not won't change the fact I still think having two protagonists is a great idea, as while I like Clem, I've never really loved the idea of playing as her.
I agree. I think the dynamic between two seperate PC characters is interesting in itself. I found it worked really well for Tales, and i hope they can make it work well for TWD too.
Having two protagonists works out. People who wanted to play as a new character get what they want, and people who wanted to play as Clem get what they want.
I'm pretty sure that if we were given the choice I'd just play as Clementine the entire game. As it is I'll reserve judgement for when the story unfolds.
I just hope he's actually a hero type. Something in between "Luke" and "Ben" would be nice, someone that has the right intentions, screws up (perhaps not as badly) and owns up to it. Hopefully his survival will be determinant on the player, I'm kinda tired of the entire cast minus Clem being dead by the ending, give us some lasting relationships please, the only one available currently is Kenny.
I'm excited! I love Clem, and I'm happy we get to continue her story, but it will be refreshing to get to see through the eyes of a new character. We know Clementine and her backstory, but we don't know anything at all about Javier. We don't even know what his relationship is like with Clementine - is it a friendship where they genuinely like working together? Or are they two people simply using each other to achieve their common goal? I think including a brand new character, completely different from Clementine, will broaden the amount of things we can do in the story. A lot of complaints that arose from season two were that Clementine would realistically never be able to do certain things because of her age. I suspect that most of these things will be pushed onto Javier, and it'll flow more smoothly as opposed to detract from the experience.
Also, it pleases both sides of the audience: those who wanted to play as Clementine, and those who wanted a new protagonist.
I myself am quite excited, i loved the two character set-up in tales, and I can't wait until fall when we'll get to see if they can make this game just as good. I'm just really hoping that telltale won't make us love him, only to kill him off last ep like they do to everyone else. Seriously, Kenny is the only character that we actually build a long lasting relationship with that jumps seasons. On another note, playing the two previous seasons, we got to be the caretaker and the one being cared for, I think the most interesting aspect of this new season, is that both characters can look out for each other, and it's not so one-sided. I'm really hoping it'll be a real friendship where one helps the other, like in tales.
I like having another playable character. It feels refreshing to have a new character to play as while still keeping Clementine as a playable character. It is a nice compromise and I love it when they revealed it in the teaser. I can continue to develop Clementine while I can also develop what kind of person, Javier is.

My first thought was "great, a new Luke."

I love it, I'm tired of Clem at this point. A new protagonist was definitely needed, this way Clem fans won't go crazy.
Good move by Telltale, now people can play as Clem and someone new... I feel he would be so much better it if was just Luke though.
Luke would have sucked in my opinion.
Mine, too.
Like if he lived way, or they just bring him back randomly way? Or because of his character way?
Most likely because of his character, or lack of.
That, and it would have been impossible for him to have survived from drowning in a frozen lake.
I really don't know yet.
We don't know anything about Javier, so we'll just have to wait until S3 comes out.
Well of course, but one can dream....
I like the idea, Javier seems interesting, I just hope the POVs are 50/50 or as close as possible to it.

I just hope he's nothing like Luke and him and my Clem can go about killing everyone that's possible to kill.
