To be completely honest. [ Spoilers! ]

I think Ava's second death has been, by far, one of the worst deaths in the entire series. Like.. I honestly think it's worse than the Kenny/Jane death flashbacks, and here I was thinking that nothing could top those.

  • I thought it was funny she tells Jaiv to be careful then she falls herself lol.

  • Well.. there's Sarah.
    And Mariana.
    And Carley/Doug.

But yes it did feel like slapstick instead of an emotional moment.

I suppose Ava wanted to portray Jack & Rose with a walker...

And it wasn't even just the fact that she died within like five or ten minutes, but also the reaction afterwards. David basically said goodbye, the rest of the group kinda just stood around and didn't do anything, and then they were back on their merry way immediately following the death. It's almost as if Ava didn't exist whatsoever. I thought that Clem of all people would've at least had something to add.

God damn... I think friggin Nick got a better send-off. At least I felt like shit afterwards. For this I literally just shook my head and groaned.

  • Agree 100%
It was another lame, cheap and easy way out of a situation. No effort at all.

  • Oh boy, what were they saying?

Yeah. One more indicator that the episode was rushed, just like the whole season. Out of all people, Clem should be affected the most, but nothing.

I think Carley and Doug's was done fine enough. They played the same role, and offered different things. Doug was an inferior choice mostly, but wasn't that bad.

Ava's death though? Probably up there with Christa, Nick, Sarah, S3 Kenny, S3 Jane.

    It was legit comedy.

Ava gets a zombie on the shoulder, falls to her death, two seconds to say goodbye.

I honestly would rather have more Doug/Carley treatment in our determinants with having the same demise, than the joke that was Ava's death. At least bloody mourn her. I mean hell, you wanna switch up the deaths? Have Ava take a longer time to get through, fear of heights. Then you've got walkers coming, people getting across the helicopter. Ava gets bit by a hidden crawler, when she and Javi are the last ones. Helps Javi push the helicopter blade by rearing it back farther a tad. Then, unlike Tripp who literally trips to his death? She shoots herself, or tosses you her gun, or gets eaten. Maybe Ava's gun helps you later in the episode. (Ava inadvertently saving David's life with that extra firepower, for example. Also makes sense, because Ava's a soldier, she knows the value of an extra bullet far more than Tripp. Also shows Ava being hopeful, etc. )

Boom; same-esque death, you just spend time giving Ava a few lines, make a 'pew-pew' scene, a different angle/animation to send Javi along.

Would it suck that both determinants died? Yeah. Would it suck that both died at the same point? Yeah.

But if that's what's gonna happen anyway, make it worth a damn and show us something out of it.

Bonus points though for Conrad being a determinant that actually fucking lived. Legit, had some good moments and lived to the end. Conrad for best determinant.

  • I hated Ava's death. I was kind of like 'wtf just happened'. Her death was terrible, I hated it.

  • That's EXACTLY what I thought!

  • So this is definitively how they're going to treat their determinant characters? I don't think I can have anymore hope for GotG or GoTS2 determinants, especially the latter :\

  • This is perfect! :D

But seriously, giving Ava a death like that is insulting, because she is a great character and so much more could have been done with her.

Also, they apparently scrapped Eleanor's role/redemption arc... Dude, if Tripp dies in Thicker Than Water she blames Javier...the fuck TellTale??

    Yeah, seriously.

  • Specially at Ava's.

Tripp's death wasn't as lazy. He actually had a "somewhat touching" moment before his death.

Ava's death was just pure lazy comedy.

  • Yeah, I agree. I was never really mad that Carly and Doug dies at the same point either, they alter the narrative just a tiny bit and one unlocks some unique interactions for Lee to consider with the other characters. Not world shattering difference, but enough for two playthroughs to have a different tone, since they survive halfway through the season too.

  • Yeah, I literally just got the feeling that she might have gotten Kate's role if Kate wasn't a more important character story-wise. At the very least, she's doing what she's always done and is at least willing to put her issues behind her if Javier decides to forgive her.
