My thoughts on ANF's Finale- I loved it but I have to admit I'm a little disappointed.
I seriously loved this episode, but admittedly there's a few things that happened I was unhappy with. It had a really good start, I was enjoying it a lot. The stuff with David was really good. But soon after I was left disappointed by Tripp's death. I loved the character and I'm not against characters you love dying but it was plain to see that it was his determinant status that killed him. I'm sure you all know what I mean by that. When a character dies very suddenly and it having little to no setup. Mainly Nick is who comes too mind. I saw Ava's death too and I'm not too pleased with that one either. Also the whole damn episode I couldn't stop thinking "Where the hell is Conrad?!" I wish he did more other than read a book but I can be forgiving because I can see that they wanted the episode to revolve around the Garcia's and they probably didn't want to kill Conrad off.
Back to praising! Gabe was awesome this episode, he really became his own person here and not just David's son. We see him really try to make up for how he's been acting. I was also surprised (pleasantly) when we see him turn on David for killing Clint. I've no idea what happens if you shoot Joan, though. I of course being a huge David fan tried to talk Gabe into not completely turning on David. Now one of my favorite scenes in the whole game, The 'I love you... brother' scene was so amazing and heart wrenching for me. I refused to fight back and seeing David's reaction really got to me. "Don't you say that. You don't get to say that!" It's really incredible when you're playing through a scene and you feel like if you don't press 'fight back' that you'll die but you love the other character so much that you can't bring yourself to press it. I legitimately thought that if I didn't fight back that Javi would die but I just couldn't do it and I love Javi!
Now to talk about the final major choice that affects David and Kate's fates. I liked both endings but I have to admit that the ending where Kate dies is done so much better. It really gets you emotional, not just because Kate's dead, but because of Javi and Gabe's heartbreaking reactions. When Javi fell to his knees and screamed, that really got to me. And also the talk with Gabe afterwards, my gosh, I wanted to cry with him! There's also the amazing scene of Javi trying desperately to save Gabe and David. You get Javi being so epic as he tries to push through the Muertos (Yes, I will continue to call them that) then we get Gabe being shocked that you came for him and he apologies for how he's acted and even calls himself a terrible son. Then there's the fantastic scene of David being so done with this shit and Javi trying to convince him to stay. Talking about their father was just great. I could ramble on and on about Javi and David but I'm sure you get what I'm trying to say. Now to talk about the ending where David dies. To clarify, my Javi was with Kate so I have no idea how different it is if you're not in a relationship. David's death is really unsatisfying. It got me emotional but not as much as Kate's death, the thing is that you don't witness his death, you're told about it. It's also especially not as emotional because you can play Javi as someone who hates David. The ending where Kate lives is hopeful and optimistic which I like, but when she dies it leaves you (or at least me) absolutely gutted. So I like both endings but the one where David lives is definitely better and it had the more true Walking Dead, feel to it.
So I Iike the rest of the small stuff so I'll just comment on the "Clementine's story will continue" thing. I'm 100% fine with this. I am down for Clem to be a protagonist again. What I don't like is that Javier was specifically not mentioned. It left me feeling like Javier's story was apparently already finished and I really don't like the sound of Javi being a one-shot character. If he never shows up again I'll probably get over it but I really don't want his story to be over. I love the guy so much and it'd be a huge waste!
So those are my thoughts on the finale. Overall I loved it despite having more complaints than usual. This was a great season in my opinion and I can't wait to see what's next. Share your thoughts
Just please if you absolutely hated it, keep the hate comments to a minimum. I really don't want this forum to ruin my mood again.

I agree with you wholeheartedly on Ava and Tripp's deaths. Boy, were those upsetting. More Ava's than Tripps, but still both upsetting. I also really liked the Javier and David fight scene, that was awesome. There was a lot of good stuff in the episode, but I still wish they could've given us more. We should have definitely seen what the hell happened to Clint/Joan for example, the fact that we didn't just doesn't fly with me.
Gabe's death scene was absolutely amazing. Not that I wanted him to die or anything, but that was the best death scene since Lee dying. It was pulling on my heart strings big time.
Overall, the episode was not half bad, just wish it tied things up with the main villain, and maybe not cut clementine's hair...
Also, just wondering, what was clementine's decision in your playthrough? Did she go with you, or strictly for Kate or gabe/David?
I actually had no clue that Gabe could die...
I did two playthroughs, one where David died and one where Kate died but Gabe survived both of those.
She decided to go after Gabe and I had the choice of either going with her or Kate.
Clem showing more concern for gabe instead of equal or more concern for ava is off putting. She's known ava way longer. Tripp getting killed the way he did reminds me of what happened to Carly. At least with Dough he takes the bullet for Ben. Carly just gets shot. It seems like the most effort was put into trying to redeem gabe and his determent demise.
She made the same choice in my playthrough. But depending on choices throughout the season, she would either go wherever Javier goes, or go with Kate.
But boy oh boy, go check out gabe' death and tell me that's not a great heartbreaking scene. I almost wish it was canon and that everybody got it because it's just so good.
So far there's a bunch of different outcomes. You can have Kate go missing, not confirmed dead or alive as well as get David to stay in Richmond. You can even have both David and Kate die.
Ava's death was a joke. I mean literally, the episode had just started and then a walker takes her down outta nowhere. It was like slapstick comedy. I never thought Telltale could give a character a worse death than Nick.
Yeah, Ava and Tripp's deaths were pretty fucking dumb and the way they were constructed shows how much they didn't care.
Never really hated ANF but that ending made me drink, no joke.
Fuck all of that.
My reaction to that slow fade-out that they did signalling the ending.
I just saw Gabe's death... man fuck that! That would've destroyed me!
You can get to see David's death if you go after him alone.
Yeah I saw that not long after I made the discussion. That death scene is a lot better but I still think Kate's is the most emotional with Gabe as a close second.
I haven't played it yet but thanks to early releases of course people can't help spoiling and have done so for me but not that i am bothered.
It doesn't sound great which is no surprise and i know I won't shed tears like i did at the end of S1 and 2.
So was it a nice short episode again guys? 90% dialogue? Was there much gameplay this time? Hubs? Character interaction? I bet all of it was shit again
So what difference does your deal with Clint or shooting Joan do for this episode?
It really only affects the first five minutes. Gabe is either disgusted that David murdered Clint or that you murdered Joan. The epilogue states that nobody knows what happened to Joan. I imagine that it's the same with Clint.
So after the first five minutes they don't have a role in the story whatsoever?
Jeez
