My Last Thoughts about A New Frontier (RANT)
Biggest season so far MY ASS. The season finale of ANF wasn't just one of the worst Telltale episodes ever created but also one of the worst games (Not actualy game but stil) I've ever played in my GODDAMN life. This whole season isn't bad but it's not good either and I dare to say this is the WORST TELLTALE GAME I've played. Worse than Minecraft, Game of Thrones or even Jurassic Park. No, I'm fucking serious, this is one of the worst video games I've ever played in my life and I knew I should have bought better games like Resident Evil 7 DLCs, Dishonored series or save them for the upcoming video games that I'm looking forward the most. Telltale destroyed this beloved franchise that made them so popular. Let's start with some things:
This trailer was misleading, non-canon or NOT. I don't care if it was just made to take a peek at A New Frontier for the first time, it has nothing to do with Javier's actual story.
Now I'm going to hear you saying "But what about Season 2 first trailer?"
Well, it does actually show Clementine running away from walkers which is what happened in episode 1.
And here is a screenshot that we never saw in the game and they didn't even confirm that it wasn't going to happen.
Question is: Why did they have to rewrite the season? They didn't even bother to tell us the original story.
Why did they have to make this game for the new players and not the old fanbase? If they wanted new players to join the community, then CLEMENTINE SHOULDN'T HAVE BEEN IN THIS SEASON IN THE FIRST PLACE. A lot of people bought this because of Clementine, why did they have to make a story for someone we have never met in the previous season? Clementine was obviously there to attract the old players. New player fanbase isn't even big.
Look what they have done to her, it's fucking UNFAIR:
How could they do this to one of the most beloved video game characters ever existed? What were they thinking? This is just going to destroy the fanbase, it's fucking unforgivable. No, I'm fucking done.
We have been told lies, for example:
- Season 2 Endings will have big impact on Season 3
- Ties That Bind was split in two because it was TOO BIG
- No one will take a backseat
- Biggest season so far
- Rewind feature was removed because not a lot of players used it
Why would you still defend Telltale after this? They are becoming "Good companies gone bad" like Ubisoft or EA.
What pissed me off the most is the sequel baiting.
This whole season was pointless to begin with. They don't care about fans anymore, they care about MONEY. No matter what you have to say, Clementine was definitely used as a milk money.
Here is the my final verdict for this game:
PROS
*Choices are pretty affective
* No main characters dying in every episode
* Cool protagonist
CONS
- Terrible writting
- So many writters each episode
- Inconsistant characters, all of them except Clementine
- Season 2 choices being meaningless
- Lies, lies, LIES
- No Rewind feature
- Destroying Clementine's character
- Made for the new players
- EVERYTHING THAT ISN'T A PRO IS A CON
Rate: 4/10
Because of that, I've lost my interest with Telltale, I'm never buying their other series, even Game of Thrones Season 2, ever again, they should get their shit togheter and learn how not to make the same mistakes again.
NOTE: I'm not convincing anyone to have the same opinions as mine. I just told my view on this game.
Hope you have a nice day.
Comments
Amen.
Half-assed, unnecessary, blatant cash-grab.
I miss Clem so much.
What did they do to our child.
I think the rewrites were telltale really having no clue what to do for this season and being at a loss for a solid direction for the series as Melissa Hutchison herself spoke about months ago. I believe telltale simply used the excuse of appealing to newcomers to cop out of making a legitimate S3 that was a continuation of S2 since it would be easier to make a spinoff or reboot that is not connected to the series at all. The reason they put Clementine in the series is for one they wanted to appeal to fans of the series and give the idea that she would be an important character. Second was they wanted to have the best of both worlds by being able to attract and appease fans and newcomers alike which did not work. I'm immensely excited telltale is actually making a series focused on Clementines story, however we shouldn't even have had this since ANF should have been the continuation of her story.
I will never be able to forgive telltale for what they did to Kenny. His death is disrespectful to all the hardships he had to go through. Killing him off like that is unforgivable!
I agree with most of your points. Telltale was so dishonest about how this game was being made. "42 different Clementine's" , "Best Walking Dead Story Ever Told" and "Biggest Season Yet". The more I think about it the more I contemplate punching a wall
Yeah, this game is non-canon to me.
Fuck, I forgot to add 42 different Clementines
Here here. I don't think Telltale will pursue this plot point any further
Your child is still alive just with a lesbian haircut
Fuck everything about that shitcut
Man Ava/Tripp's death in Episode 5. Oh my god what are they thinking???
It's an awkward haircut I'll give you that.
Ava's death was the WORST. Her death was too fast.
If this was one of the worst games you have ever played, then you need to play more games. There are FAR worse games out there.
Doesn't matter. I regret wasting money on this.
I serious can't believe some people actually thought this was true. Most TT games are 5 episodes long, besides mine craft and GoT. So was ANF originally suppose to be only 4 episodes long? Also TT tries to release 1 episode of their games in a 1 month period. ANF was originally suppose to be release around the end of Nov2016. But instead we got 2 episodes around the end of DEC2016. 2 months 2 episodes.
Exactly, It was basically a Omid 3.0 or ANF Kenny 2.0
Did you also forget how they told us the season would be bigger, they hinted at us finding out more about her father and last name, how the watching carver choice would effect how clem acts in certain situations, and how they "didn't forgot about Kenny's hat"?
Pretty much
Ava dies
Characters: Ava's dead. Ok. Let's go!
The way Conrad was handled is definetely a pro!
It kind of makes my stomach churn that Javi got stuck in the worst game. Agreed with most of your points.
No matter what the original season 3 was you people will still bitch and cry like you always do
you all say you fans of the walking dead yet you don't support it because there is no Clem big fucking deal get over it I mean she was the worst possible character in season 2 telltale was probably planning on ending her story there but like always you fans bitch and cry for more Clem telltale didn't ruin the character Clem you so called walking dead fans did. Remember guys this is my opinion so try and it least respect it.
Lucky she kept that hat....
It went by so fast that it was practically comical.
Drop dead, mourn for three second and then move on.
Pretty much but he was useless in episode 5.
i wouldn't say it was HORRIBLE, but it was very underwhelming. if you look at the season as a whole, nothing really takes place. shit never hit the fan. i thought that after episode four there was so much to cover, so i assumed that it would be longer so that there would be more character development as well as closure. however, the kate accident led to literally nothing. joan and clint outcomes had no impact whatsoever, eleanor has like five minutes of screen time and has no chance to explain what really happened, ava has a cheap ass death, characters were kinda inconsistent, clem never found aj, david fight scene happens regardless of the way you treated him and kate, everything happened so fast, no hubs, richmond is saved super easily and quickly, etc. the only pros i can think of from the episode are some of the death scenes and some of the determinant outcomes. the season could've been so much better if they added more time, character interaction and development, hubs, etc. action happens way too often as well. in season 1, there was still a lot of action, but the way things played out were well written and made a lot of sense, and there was balance due to all of the hubs and character development we recieved. they should see what really made the walking dead great and really improve if they desire to make a better game in the future.
I wouldn't if everything was going right.
It's not because of that, it's because this game was made for the new players instead of just continuing Clementine's story and lacked a lot of gameplay.
I never wanted Clementine in someone's story.
Yeah, sadly.
My birds told me we were meant to see Kenny's hat once again. Where is it?
I can only hope that Kenny's hat will be back, with Kenny wearing it of course. On a wheelchair, crawling or on a boat, I look to his coming at first day on the fifth day. At dawn.

understood but still so what she's in someone else's story she is still one of the main characters you all acting like she has nothing to offer just wait till the DLC.
You already did.
