What is it with this utterly moronic age when people get chastised just for saying "I didn't want my character to go in that direction"?
Because this isn't really about your character 'going in a certain direction' - ass telltale confirmed above, he is bisexual. In all games. Always was. You just learned a different aspect of his background, that's all.
People are just falling all over themselves to be p.c.
Firstly, P.C. is super outdated anyway as a term, and secondly, Trump is in the whitehouse. If ANYTHING is 'P.C.' its the views he and the Republicans have, since theyre the ones with all the power.
I wasn't "bothered" by anything. What is it with this utterly moronic age when people get chastised just for saying "I didn't want my charac… moreter to go in that direction"?
If gay people wrote, "I didn't want Javy to be straight" I wouldn't write "OH! YOU HATE STRAIGHT PEOPLE!" We just have a vision for our characters. It's why we make decisions for them.
Jesus (sorry-- no pun intended) christ....
People are just falling all over themselves to be p.c.
Hi there. Adam Esquenazi Douglas here, lead writer for our finale, as well as the writer of that particular scene.
Can 100% confirm: Javi is bisexual.
After all, they always say write what you know... ;-) #representation
Some people seem to confuse a few seconds of "flirting" with romantic feelings or love interest. It's hilarious. Where I live, a bit of "flirting" is a way to tease another person in a humoristic way.
Thank you so much for this
I will say it'd have been nice if you made that clear earlier though. Like given us the option to flirt with … moreTripp or something, I dunno. Just, I was playing as a character I could relate to on that level for 5 episodes...and I didn't even know! That's a shame imo! Especially considering how rare non-straight male playable characters are
I didn't know he was gay, and I didn't know I was flirting with him, but either way, if he would've flat out offered a trip to heaven, lets just say I would've opened my heart to the Lord.
I have nothing against him being bi. But I'd prefer if TellTale let you choose those kind of personality traits for your character instead of making it so. If I have no desire to have my Javier flirt with anyone but Kate, why wouldn't I avoid the option?

Avoiding certain dialogue options because I want my character to have a certain attitude, personality is a weird way to play? Not to me it isn't.
But being bisexual isn't an attitude or a personality, it's literally just a set part of his character, like him being a baseball player, or him being Cuban.
Some aspects of his character are up to the player - how far he will trust David for example - but the writer has stated he is bisexual, point blank
Maybe I am a baseball player.

If this is your issue, did you speak up in earlier episode discussion about how it was unfair that Javier was interested in women and players didn't get to choose? Or would you say that's just part of his character?
I have nothing against him being bi. But I'd prefer if TellTale let you choose those kind of personality traits for your character instead o… moref making it so. If I have no desire to have my Javier flirt with anyone but Kate, why wouldn't I avoid the option?
They should let you do that. I knew the minute I said something on the topic that people on here would try to paint it as a homophobic comment. Christ, people can't say anything without people jumping down their throats.
The point is, Javier is bi, that ain't really a personality trait, that's part of his core character. You can't change that.
I was looking for signs that Javier was bi since Episode 1, Idk why but I got vibes from him and hey, look, he's bi! :D
Which makes me excited and happy, 'cause that's a win for LGBT representation, even if it isn't that clear to everyone.
If you avoid the option because of Kate, fine. I can get that but, your comment came off as... homophobic, so, we're just trying to point that out to you.

I'm not jumping down your throat. I just want to understand that way of thinking. Did it ever bother you that Lee was a black, previously married criminal? Or that Clementine was a young, afro-american girl you had to play as in S2? You didn't have that much of "freedom of creativity" back then.
They should let you do that. I knew the minute I said something on the topic that people on here would try to paint it as a homophobic comment. Christ, people can't say anything without people jumping down their throats.
I have a feeling that I'm going to have to protect this thread, like I did with threads back in 2014 XD I feel at home again
Javier is bi, he can flirt with Jesus and those looks slay me every time I see it again. Guess what guys? I woke up with less spots today, the scene has cleared my skin. :P
I personally don't think you meant anything bad by it. You clearly know Javi's bi and you have the right to prefer all the d̶r̶a̶m̶a̶ romance with Kate or the flirting with Jesus based on your own experiences/interests. The way I play my games is sizing up the actual character I play as and asses which interaction feels more natural ¯_(ツ)_/¯
So for example if I, a straight female, play as a male who is in love with a woman and everything is smooth and feels natural between them, you bet I'll romance the woman
They should let you do that. I knew the minute I said something on the topic that people on here would try to paint it as a homophobic comment. Christ, people can't say anything without people jumping down their throats.
As I just said to someone else, I knew the minute that I spoke on the topic that people would jump to conclusions that it was a homophobic remark. Can no one speak their mind without other people just assuming that the comment is a comment of hatred? Listen very carefully. I like the BioWare games. Why? Because you can choose who you romance, you can choose your sexuality, you can choose what your character likes and dislikes. I'd like that in the TellTale games too. Want to be straight? Let us choose. Want to be gay? Let us choose. This has nothing to do with phobia. This is all about me liking the idea of a video game letting you mold your own character and letting the player decide what the character is all about instead of the writers, company saying it's a fact and giving the players no choice in the matter.

Where does "there's a room" show up?
It's the "C'mon, stay..." option

Resorting to personal insults won't get people around to your side, just some advice.
"That made me uncomfortable." Literally your words.
Heterophobia isn't a thing, that's why.
This is very cool, thank you
My Javi won't abandon Kate tho, they are too cute together :'D.
A telltale employee confirmed it was flirting and that Javi is bisexual, so I guess the people viewing it as flirting were right lol
Javi's bi regardless
Pssst. Who knows, maybe Javi gets more chances to "make it clear" in the future :P
Photoshop Of The Week Award!!!!!
Don't care. They should really allow you to choose your characters sexuality like the BioWare games do.
Nice try Telltale. We all know this is a leaked screenshot of S4E1
Do you also avoid the dialogue options about him being a baseball player because you aren't a baseball player?
Seems a weird way to play.
You don't have to be into men ?? Javi is bi, that's awesome, isn't it? Just 'cause ya not into men doesn't mean you have to avoid the option
Maybe I am a baseball player.

The flirting with Jesus scene really makes me hate Telltale for removing the Rewind option.
I'd love to replay it but a whole episode for one scene, that's too much for me.
Thank you! I'm happy if anyone likes it. ^-^

Yeah, I've seen it. No problem at all. Just wanted to let people know that flirting doesn't >always< mean there is romantic interest, you know?

lolol
ahem
I mean, amen to that brother
Oh yeah sure
oh my god... my dreams can be reignited!
...
I'm never going back to that obsession :P
Why? Then you could say Telltale should allow you to choose the hair-, eye- and skin color, personality and clothing style too.

Now that that's been settled, I ask you: Where are the Jesus/Javi fanfics at? Fanart?
somethingg
Hello nice to meet you. I'm new. I assume you are a community manager like poptarts?
OMG THANK YOU. You just made my day :')
I'm not even male and I'm happy for him. Jesus is a great character.
I love you
My guy, I knew that boy was bi from day one. I'm so glad Telltale backed this up with the Jesus flirting :')
Thank you.
