  • Okay, I just saw it myself, and yeah. I can see where you're all coming from.

But people need to accept that this kind of death is more realistic and thus likelier than the "die a martyr" stereotype.

Specially at Ava's. Tripp's death wasn't as lazy. He actually had a "somewhat touching" moment before his death. Ava's death was just pure lazy comedy.

  • But they just move on right away, no crying or grieving whatsoever.

  • Yeah, I know. But there was no body for the most obvious form of grieving - a funeral - nor any time for one.

Anyway, Joan shot Ava in my playthrough, so yeah.

  • I couldn't care, not because I don't like Tripp and Ava but because I knew they were dead before the episode started. It's become so fucking predictable that every determinant character pre episode 5 will die.

  • It was really obvious that Tripp, regardless of being determinant, would die, and that he'd die fending off walkers.

  • lol when Javier happened to be the only one that the danger happened to, car slid when only he walked, helli blade broke only when he was swinging

  • I mean, I guess you could argue that if Clem didn't get along with Ava (telling her to f$%& off and all that) then it might be a little understandable, but I still couldn't see that happening. Clem's still got a heart deep down, even though she's been hardened with everything that's happened to her.

    Domi_nique posted: »

Yeah. One more indicator that the episode was rushed, just like the whole season. Out of all people, Clem should be affected the most, but nothing.

  • I thought it was ridiculously stupid and funny lol

I suppose Ava wanted to portray Jack & Rose with a walker... Too bad she overextended, heh.

Well, Eleanor's name was mentioned a lot in the game files we saw (those spoilers) and I got kinda excited. TellTale disappointed us again. sign Deciding Joan's fate(or letting Eleanor do it)/Returning the supplies(Eleanor's suggestion) or Keeping them(Clint's suggestion) didn't make it too. Ghhrrhjgjgrr.

TellTale had the chance to reduce the hate towards Eleanor, but they scrapped all this stuff and... I can't even.

    no no nope

Also, Max! He didn't appear!
Shades-chick shoots at us in the beginning tho...

  • I'm being completely honest, as soon as I saw the car creak and spook Kate, I started waving at Ava and said lataaaaaa biiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiitch. I knew it

  • Yep, was expecting him to die since we met him.

Big, sweet guy with a heart of gold? He is just the kind of character that is made to be killed off in this kind of setting.

It was really obvious that Tripp, regardless of being determinant, would die, and that he'd die fending off walkers.

  • Yeah, it was admittedly telegraphed. Still, I got the feeling that the car itself would kill her after she shoves Javier to the side instead of ...whatever happened.

  • Tripps death was pretty good I felt, although I was kinda disappointed that he wasnt there for more of the episode

Is Tripp's death just as bad?

Yeah, all of those good (and story relevant) ideas that weren't left on the cutting room floor some much as magically handwaved away.

Also, Max! He didn't appear!

Honestly, that annoyed me more than most of the other stuff. Seriously, what the hell happened?

David can definitely get fucked, but learning that Kate and especially Gabe are determinant just made me wanna yell copout. Yeah, it's well done in Gabe's case and I can see the benefits of doing so to ANF itself, but still.

  • You know...

That walker could have been a legit reincarnation of Kenny.

Doing justice to his own character.

The Boat Master's power was beyond any Season 3's main characters.

When you had the worst death in the series but a walker swoops in and takes the spotlight off you

  • Even less than 10%.

Some people killed him in Episodes 3 and 4.

    But you're right. Conrad's a legend.

  • Easily the worst death. Like really nobody gave a fuck. It was so sudden and stupid. It goes to show how much Telltale really care.

  • Yeah it looked pretty bad (glad that I didn't experience it). I wouldn't call it Nick levels because at least she had a conversations length of dialogue instead of a few one liners.

  • Me and my friend were laughing so fucking much ruined the ep for me lol wish I had Tripp alive as his death was bad but not as bad

  • I have to agree with you after seeing Ava's death in my alternate playthrough. It was extremely quick and forgotten about within seconds. Her death takes the cake as the worst death in the series in my opinion.

I know right! He wasn't even mentioned! If there are extra episodes before Season 4, I want one of these episodes to be about Max.
If they make an extra episode about Eleanor it would be nice to be about her redemption, with the Joan's fate/Supply situation in it of course.
Shades-check, wtf girl? Why were you shooting at us?

I had a feeling that David would get himself killed. It sucks though. As I said above, like you, the fact Gabe is determinant bothers me the most. I saw his death scene and I cried. I love him as if he is my own child. I really like the scene where he says that when he grows up he wants to be like Javi, when they were walking on the overpass.
When David hit him with the wrench he didn't even acknowledge it!
That's it. I am adopting Gabe. He's officially my son now.

Kate being determinant is shocking as well. It makes no sense! She is a very important character.
When I found that out I was like:

    this lol

EDIT: ^ This sums my reaction better lol.

  • Tripp tripped and fell...thought that was funny

  • True. Tripp at least has some impactful dialoge with Javi (if you shot Conrad at least) before he dies, but Ava is literally just mute decoration until she is killed off two minutes later. No idea how that passed the writing table at the office.

Everyone's complaining about her "death" without realizing it's super obvious she's coming back in season 4.

We didn't see a body. There's water below for pete's sake.

David and Javier's reactions were silly (the whole moment was) but I'll eat my shoe if she doesn't come back in some form or another.

Its just suuuper obvious this is their way of keeping the determinate character meaningful without putting them into the rest of the season. (by having them make a cameo in a future season)

  • Imagine Clementine dying like that

  • Or cheap. But yeah, seeing Ava's first makes that moment kinda neat.

I don't get why death has to be the only solution to getting rid of characters these days.

Like, in season 1 it was no huge deal at least. Lilly, Glenn and Molly all depart and in season 2 Arvo and Mike runs away with Bonnie if she's alive.

Tripp and Ava could have still fallen, but instead of just dying they'd be fine but in a situation that just seperates them from the main crew. Out of the narrative but not entirely wasted either, they could still turn up in the end like Lindgard does.

Same here. Max was a key player in the first thread episodes, so having him just disappear like that won't do.

When David hit him with the wrench he didn't even acknowledge it!

    Who: David or Gabe?
I assume David though and that was dickish.

And they have Javier shoot her in the arm too, complete with a grunt of pain just in case you thought it was a model fuckup.

I'm hoping that's at least determinate, cause otherwise, what was the fuckin point of singling her out in Above the Law?
