Obviously David, love.
It was dickish, indeed. He broke Fern's arm, too.
Keh! Fuck everyone's else daughter, right?
What...?
I hope Shades-chick shooting at us is determinant, too.
I thought it was hilarious. But not the good type of hilarious. You know how if a horror movie is so bad that it becomes funny? It was something like that.
Ava: Hey! what do you think your doing. Be careful! your gonna fall!
Javi: oh thank you. Ill be careful
2 seconds later...
Ava: Aaaaaahhh!
Off-topic though, I bloody died laughing at Tripp at that point, when he just shouts "S**t my nuts! F*** you, f***stick!". That was, to me, by far the funniest thing anyone said in these 3 seasons. RIP Tripp.
For one they would be bitten or eaten by the walker(s) they fell with especially Tripp. If they weren't killed by the fall they certainly were toast due to the walkers.
Everyone's complaining about her "death" without realizing it's super obvious she's coming back in season 4.
We didn't see a body. There'… mores water below for pete's sake.
David and Javier's reactions were silly (the whole moment was) but I'll eat my shoe if she doesn't come back in some form or another.
Its just suuuper obvious this is their way of keeping the determinate character meaningful without putting them into the rest of the season. (by having them make a cameo in a future season)

I completely agree. It wasn't really just her death though. Ava should of had much more screen time with Clementine given the flashbacks. They said like 1 line to each other in the present day. It's because they needed to focus on Javier's family, and since they needed to include Clementine they only used her to interact the Javier's family.

This is perfect!
But seriously, giving Ava a death like that is insulting, because she is a great character and so much more could have been done with her.
This is so true. I feel like this could be in the perspective of Ava talking to Clementine. Considering Ava and Clementine can get on well with each other in flashbacks but then Ava is completely ignored in the present.
I think it's also telling, that Telltale rushed it, considering Trip is in the scene right after Ava dies. This and Ava's death completely ruined the immersion. I couldn't stop laughing.
And it wasn't even just the fact that she died within like five or ten minutes, but also the reaction afterwards. David basically said goodb… moreye, the rest of the group kinda just stood around and didn't do anything, and then they were back on their merry way immediately following the death. It's almost as if Ava didn't exist whatsoever. I thought that Clem of all people would've at least had something to add.
God damn... I think friggin Nick got a better send-off. At least I felt like shit afterwards. For this I literally just shook my head and groaned.
Also, one of Ava's best scenes was a determinant flashback at the hospital. It also explains how Clementine found Prescott. Most people probably didn't see this as it would be replaced with a Kenny or Jane scene depending on your season 2 ending.
I mean, I guess you could argue that if Clem didn't get along with Ava (telling her to f$%& off and all that) then it might be a little … moreunderstandable, but I still couldn't see that happening. Clem's still got a heart deep down, even though she's been hardened with everything that's happened to her.
Honestly; Ava not having enough screen time made her death even worse, at least for me. But then again, the whole choice between saving Tripp or Ava in general is bullshit, but at least Tripp dies while fighting, making his death less shit.

That zombie must of been behind the car for ages checking each character for a determinant status. Kate and Javier were the loudest and the walker didn't even pop it's head out.
I just paused the screen to complain about Clementine's lack of reaction to Ava's death and all of a sudden I just notice Trip in the corner there. I laughed so hard.
Yeah it looked pretty bad (glad that I didn't experience it). I wouldn't call it Nick levels because at least she had a conversations length of dialogue instead of a few one liners.

There already determinant. Telltale needed a reason to get rid of them. They wouldn't want them back. There gone.
On another note though. Can anybody explain what that body of water was doing under the highway. It's a city, there's no indication they were anywhere close to water. The water is submerging the buildings. How can it have that depth and not have flooded Richmond as well. I feel like the writers and environment designers got mixed up by calling the highway a bridge. The designers thought that implied water when really it was just supposed to be above the city.

It would've been under normal circumstances. The twist with Joan wanting to teach Javier a lesson saved it.
I do still think this problem existed in Walking dead season 1 and season 2. As you point out though, there are more methods than just killing. This is what they do in other non walking dead Telltale games too. I think it's the fault of the walking dead's story design rather than Telltale's ability.
I don't get why death has to be the only solution to getting rid of characters these days.
Like, in season 1 it was no huge deal at least… more. Lilly, Glenn and Molly all depart and in season 2 Arvo and Mike runs away with Bonnie if she's alive.
Tripp and Ava could have still fallen, but instead of just dying they'd be fine but in a situation that just seperates them from the main crew. Out of the narrative but not entirely wasted either, they could still turn up in the end like Lindgard does.

Yeah, seriously. Not gonna lie: Tripp was fuckin' done before the game even came out in my book.
Honestly, if it wasn't that brilliant twist, 'Tripp or Ava' would've been like 'Sarah or Jane' except if the choice actually mattered, Jane was a better written and [far more[ sympathetic(in both senses of the word) character, and Sarah had fuck all in characterization, wasn't a outlier in the group, and spent an increasing amount of her screentime trying to get into Carlos's pants.
Except nowhere near as funny or interesting.
But the impact of it was just pure bullshit.
Even sparing Max or not and/or choosing to run away or going to the house was more impactful for me.
Yeah, I just decided to not give shit in part because I saw the original choicelist in advance and it goes by so fast anyway. They clearly didn't care about most of the non-Clementine/Garcia stuff, so might as well ignore it for the moment too.
Also, what the fuck happened to Max? How do you include Rufus in the episode(which was a nice little touch), but not Max?
That was literally the only good thing about it. But the impact of it was just pure bullshit.

Ava's death was comically bad. I knew she was going to die at some point going into the episode, but I was actually startled by how quickly they moved past it - to the point where I actually started laughing everytime I thought back to it. I didn't particularly care for Ava as a character, but it left a bad taste in my mouth that they really just tried to get her out of the way as fast as possible. The writers seemed to have put more thought into how Tripp would go out, and so it leaves me wondering why they didn't show that courtesy to her character.
It was pretty unintentionally hilarious. It happened so fast, I did a double take, then laughed.
However, I really did like the line David had afterward. "Ava would kick my ass if she knew I was sitting here crying." It's funny, but sad at the same time.
no, nothing is worse than nick's, it's so pitiful and embarrassing and they couldn't even give him the courtesy of trying to make his last scene sad. There's no sad music, and clem delivers a super monotone "goodbye" before they dump his mutilated carcass on the ground.
Wish there was a special trophy for keeping him alive until the end, like the one guy said
"black dude dies last" or something
all the telltale games having boring as shit trophies, except for 400 days

The helicopter scene? Agreed. It was very predictable that whoever is last will die
Yeah, that was definitely too much.
I was making fun of how everyone calls Clementine their daughter.
You all know where I stand.
My condolences.

I kinda figured it out. I find the "Clementine being everyone's daughter" thing amusing, too.

Implying the fall wouldn't "kill" the walkers....
Ok, I'll admit it, that scene was kinda funny.
And here I thought the days of terrible determinant deaths were behind us, Telltale. Nope, you still managed to top them. Congratulations.

This.
Completely agree but I think that would of required the season to be about Clementine.
Ava was most likely bit mid fall and Tripp was also most likely bit or scratched on the way down.

It would make some of the worst decisions Telltale made with ANF look like nothing if they did that.

It plays afterwards anyway.

Nick did have a reaction from Clementine though.
And Luke and Rebecca.

I bet 52 cents tripp or ava show up again (not in a flashback)
also magic
Didn't know that. Thank you. Your right. I just checked.

David did, for 20 seconds. It's something.
