when your main antagonist has like barely any screentime and has a determinant death before the final episode, then literally never appears again because david apparently wasn't actually looking for her.
As much as I enjoy playing ANF, I have to admit they do have a pretty shitty villain. Like I would have hope that David was the MAIN antagonist and that he was the one who ordered the raids. Now that would have been more interesting than the entire Max-Joan arc and a bonus for his character.
True, but in fairness, none of the villains in the series have been all that great, anyway. Most of them have been pretty cliche and somewhat forgettable.

Definitely. At least they served their purpose as villains and didn't just vanish from the story like Joan. I was just saying, in general, telltale's villains have always been a bit mediocre, to say the least.
I think they could have done better. I would have at first shown The New Frontier to be a nicer, better intentioned group with a lot of dysfunction that slowly becomes more and more worse the more the story goes on

This season's villains are easily forgettable compared to other seasons.
Season 1 had The Stranger, Crawford, Savelots Bandits, and The St. Johns
Season 2 had Carver, The Russian Gang, Arvo, and bandits.
Michonne Mini-series had Norma & Randall, who's probably the best TWDG villain Telltale ever made.
New Frontier had...New Frontier. Joan was awful, Clint was confusing, Lonnie was a waste, and Badger was generic. The only good villain this season was David if you even count him as one.
I'm hoping in Season 4 we have a Negan-like villain or if anything, have The Whisperers be the antagonists.
He could've done with a bigger role in the season, but at the same time, in my own opinion, I thought Carver suffered with being just a bit too one dimensional. I'd be more inclined to say Norma was the best written villain so far.
What makes this worse is there was supposed to be a Carver-esque character in season 3. I think Melissa said it in a interview a while back. There was so much potential.
She mentioned that Richmond lost several people due to harsh weather conditions the past winter and lack of supplies hence why she decided to raid other communities.

Yeah, I linked that a week ago. The funny thing is I think all of us assumed she meant David for being an angry abusive leader, when it would've been an interesting twist if she actually meant Ava as a chummy antagonist obsessed with having a baby.

I think Carver could've been great like Norma had he actually had some development, the biggest problem with the newest TTG games (or at least The Walking Dead series) is the lack of development for allot of the antagonists and secondary characters.

From what I've heard, Negan in just a thug who acts kinda like Nate, talks like a thirteen year old, and is actually somewhat pragmatic in his operations.

So I'll have to take your word on that.-
At the very least, Troy wasn't a hyped up letdown and was just a dickish but laughable lackey. Carver was bound to disappoint given how inherently predictable he was.

Fixed that for ya.
it really did honestly? david was literally going after joan which would've been kinda interesting to see in ep 5 but then she just. dissapears
Joan wasn't that bad was she?
Joan was the "friendly grandma who is actually a witch" cliche villain. There was no hope for her.
Badger had more potential to be more memorable, but they killed him off too soon. So he ended up being boring/wasted.
So I'm just going to agree with you. ANF truly had the most boring villains.

When the villains are so boring even Telltale forgets about them.

St. Johns though >>>>
Redneck cannibals? Oh yeah, totally never seen that before.
Still more interesting than the bullshit we got in ANF
Nah. I'd say Season Two did. Joan at least had a motivation. Carver and Troy were just dicks for the sake of being dicks.
Definitely. At least they served their purpose as villains and didn't just vanish from the story like Joan. I was just saying, in general, telltale's villains have always been a bit mediocre, to say the least.
I forgot Joan existed.
The villain is the bad writing amiright guys?????
Being serious, I totally forgot Joan existed too. Season 3 had no villain. I blame the settlements setting. Too peaceful for twdg.
...and?
I think they could have done better. I would have at first shown The New Frontier to be a nicer, better intentioned group with a lot of dysfunction that slowly becomes more and more worse the more the story goes on
I think Carver was the best villain in the series but he got cut too soon imo.

What was Joan's motivation? She caused the deaths of innocents and children just to steal their supplies.
I don't think she did have one. She was a simple "I can do whatever I want" villain, which is very boring.

Same.
More like she just became that after one of many rewrites. One of the several copouts.

norma or you mean randall lol
Honestly, what I would have really liked to see would be a Negan type character. That would have made things very interesting.

And he beat one of the characters in the comic brutally to death. Like, its really graphic in the show.
I know. One of the first spoilers I ever heard about here.
Honestly, Javi beating that dude (I forget his name) in episode 3 reminded me of that moment.
That's what everyone immediately assumed(and hoped) would happen. And it's Badger.
At the very least, Troy wasn't a hyped up letdown and was just a dickish but laughable lackey. Carver was bound to disappoint given how inherently predictable he was.
Yeah, that would've been the way to go. Though I suppose something similar could be said for Carver as well.
Well then, may I ask, how would you rank the villains/antagonists?
Gotta love that pause.
