Fear TWD is becoming better than TWD original TV series.
That's what I and many others are starting to believe anyway.
FTWD started off slow in S1 as it was fairly boring and yes in the season finale it had one of the most stupidest scenes ever in all walking dead history, but since then it has gradually got much better.
S2 was a bit hit and miss but I think for the most part it was quite interesting and we got much more of a mix of character development and action, S3 however has started off VERY WELL and the first four episodes have only got better and better with a shock death and the fourth episode was excellent and very much up there with the best ever shown in either series imo.
As for the original TWD series, well I thought that it was good up until S7 which has been an absolutely awful season and very poor in many factors such as the lazy writing, poor acting, cheap production, lousy directing, shitty special effects, awful new characters and plain action sequences. Stuff like that terrible CGI deer and the weird trailer trash people and The Kingdom is just so lame with King Ezekiel talking like Shakespeare with his CGI tiger oh and I can't stand Jeffery Dean Morgan as Negan he is so irritating and cheesy at times with such unfunny jokes.
I think the original TV series follows the comics too much now almost word for word and it is now at that stage where it gets too wacky in the comics and when you see it on TV it just sucks and makes you roll your eyes and shake your head at how shit it has become.
The good thing about FTWD is that it is original in its story as it does not follow a comic so there are many surprises and unknowns along the way and I don't know about anyone else or if it's just me but do the production values actually look better on Fear than it does in the original series?

I like Fear infinitely more than regular TWD mainly because there is not a superior source material to compare it to.
I never thought this show could make me feel emotional but that latest Daniel episode was fucking phenomenal.
I am one of those that is beginning to like Fear more than TWD as well. It still doesn't have the thrills or excitement that TWD does but the characters are far more believable and less over the top than TWD's. As has come out lately Fear is more of a show of regular people living in a post apocalyptic world where as TWD is a show about super heroes and villains living in a post apocalyptic world. Fear is a little more human than TWD.
I have to say that Fear definitely has improved remarkably. I have loved this season so far, and if this continues it will be fantastic. Not only is stylistically different from the main show, it doesn't have to live up to all the expectations of the main show and is unique.
It's a shame that the ratings and interest here are going down. The show right now deserves better.
Regardless of rather or not it has maintained the interest of the majority of TWD fans it still is one of the highest rated cable programs on tv and isn't going anywhere. People who are saying the ratings are bad are likely just comparing them to TWD's.
I gotta start watching the series again. I stopped watching it after S1 ended but now I keep hearing good things about it.
Fear is probably doing better than TWD because it's original and it doesn't follow another media version of it. TWD has some original elements like Daryl and Badass Carol, but it still has to follow the comic storyline. With Fear it doesn't follow anything besides how walkers work.
I stopped to watch it in the middle of the second season
I didn't really give FTWD much of a chance. I think I watched two episodes and just wasn't feeling it. I don't really want another show to catch up to atm, but knowing it gets better is reassuring. I just might give it another shot at some point, thanks.
It was hard for people to feel Fear The Walking Dead straight away from its first season as many people would compare it to The Walking Dead which had already been running for 5 seasons back then, it just takes time for TV shows to develop into something good, there have been many TV shows that have caught people's attention from the first episode then ended up turning out bad or even got cancelled after only one season. Shows like Lost, Heroes and Flashforward etc
I would give Fear a chance as it is very watchable now.
I liked the first season fine. I stopped watching halfway through the second because it stopped trying to be its own thing and just became a carbon copy of the other show. Maybe it gets better, I dunno. But I don't really care enough to find out.
Totally agree
I stopped after watching the first half of the second season as I got very frustrated that no-one seemed to be dying apart from minor characters - I was really frustrated with the fact that Daniel, despite appearing to die, would survive, as he was the only character to die in freaking ages, so I stopped.
Does it get better in this regard? Are the main characters still practically invincible?

I heard s3 upwards is really good. I might start watching but idk. Do I need to start watching at s1 or could I start at another ep?
Technically you could just start watching at the start of season 3 if you don't want to go back and watch the entire thing. You might get confused a bit as far as the placement of some characters but all in all each season does a good job of being its own separate arc.
cheers
Yes, yes it does. One death in particular (and probably everybody else here). Season 3 has been pretty solid as well, in case quality was still a concern.
Also, in regards to the Daniel thing, that gave us one of the best episodes (it's in Season 3) of any Walking Dead show in recent memory.
Main characters in TWD didn't start dying till right at the end of season 2.... Seems like a weird reason to stop watching Fear.
Its definitely growing on me too. I don't know about anyone else but i am a big Daniel Salazar fan.
spoilers
Was overjoyed when he showed up alive at the end of episode 3! Things are looking very interesting.
Does anyone know if they are having a mid season break? I hope they don't!
I didn't care much either when I found out there was a 3rd season as I had totally forgot about it and I was not so sure whether it was coming back on after S2 had ended, but I read some reviews and saw that it was getting a lot of praise for the first few episodes so I gave it a final chance and I must say it is a lot better than it was, its not great, but much much better and it is refreshing to see a walking dead tv show do well after how awful S7 was of the original.
There are 16 episodes in S3 so I imagine they probably will take a break.
I am really starting to like this Troy guy, he seems like he could be a really good character for the show.
I left Fear a while ago, it was so bad I didn't think it deserved my time anyways, but if it's as good as you say, then I should start watching again... anything interestng?
Well they had the balls to kill off a character you possibly didn't expect to die so early and suddenly. The show has become more interesting with the characters that have since joined. There's lots going on than there used to be.
I haven't seen enough of Troy's nice side (if he has one) to like him yet but the Otto family are interesting definitely. Still not sure they are a 100% trustworthy yet though
Ok, I'll give it a try!
Shame I stopped watching
Even i have found FTWD more interesting this season so i do recommend giving it a go again
I don't watch the main series either :P but IIRC, main characters did die in season 1- didn't carol's husband die or something? And that woman who stayed behind at the building that blew up?
I haven't seen his miraculous survival episode, but whenever shit like that happens even if it's well-depicted just pisses me off. Jon Snow coming back to life and being perfect and invulnerable, Glenn and the freaking dumpster...it just puts me off and ruins immersion for me. The Walking Dead is meant to be about the idea that anyone can die at any time, and when they start killing hardly anyone AND people survive absurd situations for 'drama' or 'tension' I lose interest. The game is much better in this regard I feel - a LOT of people actually do die.
You make good points. The dumpster thing especially pissed me off. Jon Snow, well, to each his own. I thought it was for the best, and I liked how it was mostly luck that helped him - real life is like hat too.
The focus of the episode isn't his survival really. It's like there for the beginning, and then the real story goes in.
Regardless, the "anyone can die at any time" is 100% present.
Give me one reason why i should watch FTWD, cause it seemed sucks and boring first time i watched s01e01
I can confirm that FTWD overpowers ANF.
WE have thread going for every episode while it is live. Plenty of chatter going on there too.
I didn't hate the way they handled Jon's return, but I do think its continued an overall impression on me that Jon is meant to be a perfect special snowflake who is a good leader, soldier, friend, lover, good looking, has special skills (warg), is bound by prophecy, can't even die, and has practically no flaws
That's good to hear!
Start watching s3, s1 was pretty much meh but it got some interesting moments. S2 was also meh it's even more boring but I enjoyed the episodes leading up to the finale. S3 wasn't boring it was actually interesting and quite good, it's on a streak of goodness right now so I recommend you hop in S3 first.
I'm currently working on season 2 right now where they end up on the abigail boat thing, just need to catch up to season 3. Anyway, Thank you for your reply m' lord
Those were not main characters.
Agreed, and I think it's because it's doing it's own thing while The Walking Dead just copies the comics and it's pretty predictable (Even with Glenn's death).
I'm guessing Travis Manawa's death is the cheapest in season 3
