I dont think he would be interested at this point. In his eyes he delivered the story of Clem and Lee that he envisioned, and has moved on to his own studio.
No shit dawg about time I see people wanting him back he fucking created this franchise to be successful and he made clementines charecter but telltale is a dishwasher company rn so I don't know if he can cooperate with a unorganized company that doesn't treat him like a human being
That'd be great but I heard Sean has his own company now I guess, but the next best thing might be to try and get atleast one of the other responsible writers of season one and ask Robert Kirkman himself to help with writing the next season. This way you only got two or three writers at the most like season 1 and one of them is the creator of the walking dead and another the a mastermind of season one game. Keep corporate and their rushed deadlines away from the production team and you might have a game on par if not better than season 1.
No, and I'm tired of people thinking that Season 1 and it's success was entirely because of him. It wasn't, because along with lead designer Jake Rodkin, it was a whole team of writers, designers, directors, etc. that made Season 1 so great, not just one guy. Does he deserve credit, of course he does, but he didn't do Season 1 "all by himself."
It's time for people to move on, that's what it's time for. Sean is gone, and unless Campo Santo goes under, he's not coming back, and that's fine, he's now doing his own thing, good for him, Telltale can, will, and has survived without him (they won't, however, if they continue to treat their customers and employees like shit though). Believe it or not, Sean was not the be all, end all of this series. Even in Season 1, it had a team of dedicated, hard working people who contributed greatly to the game's overall success, and there is no guarantee that bringing Sean back would mean the next season would reach the same success as Season 1 (I mean, look at Firewatch and how that turned out). If Sea has moved on, why can't we?
And yes, ANF was disappointing, but I attribute it more to micromanaging by executives as well as rewrites than the overall talent of the writers, many of whom had done great work in other Telltale series in the past. And based on what we've heard about the original story, plot lines, and characters, it seemed really interesting and could have been great. Teams of future seasons and other games just need to stick to their original story and avoid major rewrites. And if there are going to be rewrites, allow the writers time to make the proper changes and improvements, don't rush it out the door.

There's a reason Vanaman left, and the reasons he left more or less ended up happening, and arguably on an even worse scale than he thought.
So I think it's better if he just keeps doing what he's doing. Not to mention, I doubt he's interested in trying to live up to S1's reputation, because chances are, he'll just be chasing his own shadow if he tried.
If this game's hey day is over... then so be it. All good things come to an end, right? Sometimes later (which we all hope is the case), sometimes sooner (which is usually what happens), but nothing ever stays the same infallible stroke of genius we try to remember it as. Does it suck that it only happened after one game (or two, if you're someone that liked S2 as well)? Sure, but the situation is what it is. Luster fades, just like anything else. You ask me, it's better to come to terms with that fact of life right now, rather than wait for the day that it inevitably happens to something you like even more.

Oh good, then that means my post will fit right in, because god almighty is this forum just the most soul-crushing crucible of a discussion board I have ever seen

Wow. That's...amazingly pessimistic.
I guess I'm just a little shocked to hear that degree of cynicism from a moderator. I didn't know people were THAT burned out by "A New Frontier." Maybe that's all the more reason Vanaman should be brought back, at least for S4, if only to give Clem's story a proper conclusion.

Actually, I don't even hate ANF like some people. In fact, quite honestly, I'm okay with it myself. I've played along in the past and acted like I didn't like it (because it was easier that way), but lately I just can't find the strength to do that anymore.
The cynicism on my part comes from the fact that everyone else on here is also in a permanent state of cynicism (which is admittedly understandable... to some degree)
Hard to be positive when it feels like everyone else is pissing all over the parade.

I get that. Cynicism seems to be in vogue right now, and not just on message boards. Between global warming, economic recession, terrorism, and President Trump, acting like a bitter asshole has become a coping mechanism. Obviously more people need to read "Flex Mentallo."

Wpah, only 3? Now there are like 40 right? 3 writers can make something magical while the others can't? I like kid anf though. Season 1 was just the best.

So this was actually an improvement, cutting the Slaughterhouse content? Cause I'm not okay with that.

Yeah, I'd rather that'd have used another character in his place there. Maybe a chance to expand on Badger's crew a bit since they seemed to all be pretty rowdy.
Plus, considering it's called a Slaughterhouse, has stalls filled with walkers(presumably for becoming raid troops), and especially there are references to there being Villagers to free there, I feel that'd be way too vile a role for Max.

Obviously. Of course he's not the only one, we know hes not the only one but hes the biggest name and the person most people know. Also if there is anyone who knows Clem and could continue to write her correctly, he's him. He's a big piece to the puzzle.

...but it really brings into question if "not exactly unreasonable" is the same as "reasonable". If Vanaman voluntarily left of his own accord to do his own thing, he probably doesn't want to return without good reason. Around the time that Firewatch by Campo Santo launched, he mentioned that he wanted to take the chance to do something new from an artistic perspective.
Jake and Sean talk about this around 5 or 7 minutes into this video:
Look: It's a polite request. That's it. If Vanaman doesn't want to come back, fine, but Telltale could at least reach out to him and see whether he says yes or no.

Or at least ask him if he can fix it, or had a direction.
Not possible because Sean is already working on his new IP.
Not just him. There were 3 writers for Season 1 in total.

Yeah he is busy making two hour games that piss people off in the end...so he may have lost his edge.
Sadly this is practically impossible seeing as any decent writer Telltale had left the company at this point

But if the slaughterhouse was there, then Max would die right away.
Is that moon man?
Yeah, I'd rather that'd have used another character in his place there. Maybe a chance to expand on Badger's crew a bit since they seemed to all be pretty rowdy.

It would have been better than have him vanished off the story after being spared. It makes no sense for him to just disappear after exposing Joan.
Yeah. I guess.
It's time to let Sean Vanaman go.
Now you notice it? The numbers don't always make anything better.
Obviously. Of course he's not the only one, we know hes not the only one but hes the biggest name and the person most people know. Also if there is anyone who knows Clem and could continue to write her correctly, he's him. He's a big piece to the puzzle.
Uh...no, Vanaman was already let go. The title of this thread is "It's time to bring back Sean Vanaman."
He willingly left, so he wasn't let go.
I'm saying it's time for the fans to let him go.
Well, it's not as if we have him in the first place, so it's not exactly an unreasonable request.
