So I've just got on to Episode 4
I know, I know. I am astoundingly late.
Basically to sum it up, I've been away at university with only a laptop most of the year and my computer at home has been having troubles. So basically I'm just having to watch the rest of the episodes which I don't mind, though I wish I could play them.
Now as some of you might know, I'm an optimist and forgiving (I mean I like Season 2 for goodness sake), and I also like Season 3. I think Javier is a cool character (and apparently bisexual? I don't know I saw a thread title for that, but I'll have to see where that's implied/revealed. I don't know, just thought that was interesting), Clementine is great, and even though they're a tad lacking, the flashbacks for both Javi and for Clementine are ultimately a really nice addition. I especially love the flashbacks for Javier because they serve as an illustration as to what's to come in the next episode, mostly testing the loyalty/relationship between David and Javier.
But man, oh man. There are some serious downfalls this season, most notably in that everyone is an idiot.
No I'm serious, if you thought people in Season 2 were bad, just wait until Season 3. Here are just some of the asinine choices which ultimately served no benefit, no character development, were hardly/stupidly/never justified, and ultimately just threw a wrench into the works. I'm all for characters acting idiotic/making mistakes as part of character development or the trials/tribulations of the post-apocalyptic life/situation but this is just stupid.
Now to be fair, there aren't too many I can really remember but the sheer amount of idiocy just sometimes astounds me:
- Gabe mentions you shot Conrad (if you actually shot him that is), despite you doing so to save his life as well as potentially Clementine's.
- Even if you take the deal, David will kill Clint (or whatever his name is), despite him being lenient to you and clearly not trusting Joan and go hellbent on revenge turning everything into a shooting which will risk Clementine, Gabe, Javier's and his own life as well as end up in the deaths of two innocent Richmond civilians and possibly Kate's death (don't know if she's dead, just watching Episode 5 now)
- Eleanor will straight up betray you if Gabe mentions the whole Conrad thing, despite knowing how dangerous Joan is and how A New Frontier basically led to their situation now
- Every single politician in Richmond. They are some of the worst leaders I have ever seen. Other than Clint and maybe David, why on earth is there even any realms of politics in this group? There is literally nothing to most of their arguments/debates other than. "Javier did X" and being retorted with "Max did Y" and no proof for either of them. Same with the whole Joan vs David debate. Why do they believe Lonnie over David?
That's all I an think of but they seriously lead to some bad repercussions

Telltale are well-renowned for their flaws in logic.
Yeah, the writing this season is absolutely terrible.
They need to reboot back to season 2, and extend the whole howe's thing to the last 3 episodes(episode 4 & 5 were where it got bad).
If Conrad s alive she still betrays you but she s a bit more reluctant when she admits it.
I was furious at Gabe when he revealed that, but later when he admitted knowing it was a mistake I cooled down pretty quick. He wanted to prove himself and he's a teenager, so I guess he snapped when they weren't going to let him, kinda like David (love them both though). David is quick to anger, I doubt he cared about anyone in Richmond at that point since they betrayed him, I shot Joan so fast so I've only seen a video of him killing Clint. I think Clint was a coward though, not doing anything to help. Don't even know what to say about Eleanor.. guess she thought she was helping, which makes no sense.
That scene in concept is something I've always defended, but the actual implementation and effect of it is legit shit. Oh, I'm sorry, I wasn't aware I was still playing Season 2!
That makes perfect sense actually: David is essentially a sore loser who can't handle being slighted or embarassed in any way. Don't mean to spoil anything, but having someone else chosen or sided with over him is a major berserk button of his.
She does it regardless because she wanted to use her goodwill with the people of Richmond to resolve things peacefully instead of going with Javier's plan of rolling up on Joan and basically causing a riot. It's just that Gabe's outburst makes her more confident in having done so when Joan singles her out.
Though the funny thing about that is one of them was lying since Joan claims she was told that Javier was coming there to turn the people against her instead of, you know, murdering her.
Not quite sure I get what you're getting at with Javier and Max's conflicts, so I'll just say that hearing Javier is apparently a thief in cahoots with Clementine(who Joan apparently doesn't know?) was enough to deem him untrustworthy.
Because Lonnie confessed to being responsible to the raids, but under David's orders instead of Joan's. And because David's leadership has been called into question for a while because of Badger's rampages and Javier's conflict with them, hearing of that in conjunction with Javier being smuggled back into Richmond and Max and Badger being murdered was the last straw as far as Clint was concerned.
the writing rarely makes sense, ESPECIALLY in episode five. good luck getting through that.
Lol yeah... wait till this guy gets to episode 5, his thread will be twice as long. @HarjKS Either make a new thread for episode 5 or post your thoughts in this thread, I want to hear what you have to say about episode 5.
In the episode 3 flashback David says Joan isn't there. Maybe they were separated for a while?
