After my first plathrough. [opinionated review]
Telltale, you've done it. Telltale's Batman is officially up there with my top favorite game series. This game had me really feeling tense with each choice and the unexpected factor was just beautifully carried out. If you ask me, Telltale Games is at it's peak with Batman.
I'll admit, the release of Minecraft: Story Mode Season 2 had me question the quick release of sequels with their games. But this was just a perfect way to pick up Season 1. It proves Telltale (or at least the Batman department) is fully capable of continuing games without tarnishing the reputation of the previous installment. I wouldn't feel completely satisfied with throwing out a simple "9/10 it was really good".
Some mechanics really had me grinning my god damn face hole off. Quick Time Events have been greatly improved. Someone find me a mash sequence in The Enemy Within, maybe I missed one in my playthrough. That's also something that, upon reflecting, has me very impressed with the installment. The choices that I made in my play were evident. Crystal clear. And I enjoyed every second of the game making me reminisce. I'm aware it's only the first episode, but I will place my trust in Telltale to keep this momentum up with continuing the season. Season 1 was very persistent with the wow factor despite it's visual glitches I enjoyed that season as well.
(kept short due to only being 1/5th of the way through The Enemy Within's episodes, but I'm too impressed to not have written this)

I agree.
While not being totally clear on what choices were brought over from an imported save, and how much they matter in the long run..
This still feels very connected story-wise and does not pull any punches in the Mythos Mixing department. Just an all around improvement to what made Season 1 so good.
EDIT: Oh yeah, and I do know that Season 1 didn't have any "Mash x button" prompts either... so I guess it's sticking with omitting those mechanics?
I agree, this is great start...but before they pat themselves on the back, lets get the next 4 and see if they can maintain the quality. So far so good. I will give them major props for continuing to make the Telltale Batman mythos...their vision and not being afraid to shake it up.
Season 1 was good...I loved Lady Arkham...loved how they turned a boring character like Vicki Vale into a main antagonist. It was one of those....Oh SHIT moments because...well she has always been the good woman in Bruce's life.
Since I elected to create my back story via the generator I can say that about a dozen things from Season 1 seem to carry over, though I assume some like your relationship with Selina won't come into play until she returns in Episode 3 or whatever. But what has carried over is well done.
Right. I didn't do that. I imported the save, so I had to pray that the game read all of it right and didn't mess up. I doesn't show you what the decisions are so you just need to wait and see.
So far so good, but the game is totally wrong with my Bruce/Batman finale choice. I went as Bruce, and I chose to put money into the GCPD in season 1. However, the game thinks I went as Batman (because they say that "the police force and Batman have strong relations") and the Codex tells me I donated money to Arkham as Bruce.
To be fair, the whole Batman having strong relations with the police makes sense from a sequel story perspective much like the new default upgraded bat suit.
Same thing happened here. It thinks I used money to improve Arkham, but I actually put money into the GCPD.
Right. Do they say that anyway? Or is that dependant on choice? It occurs in the beginning at the casino.
Anyone?
Either way, I am disappointed that it read my choice wrong of donating money to the wrong place. Regardless of its effect.
