Should Clementine have a friend during The Final Season? (POLL)

edited August 2017 in The Walking Dead

Inspired by @Cocoa2736 poll.

Just wanted to know: do you think Clem should have a friend her age during her journey in The Final Season? Every season she has a friend her age to talk to (Duck in S1, Sarah in S2, and Gabe in ANF). I think it'll be nice to have a partner/sidekick for Clem, similar to Joel and Ellie from Last of Us.

Gabe isn't an option because he can die in a ending and a lot of people don't like him. This is a whole new character.

I made a poll which you can vote if you want Clem to have a friend in The Final Season [Here].

  • As long as they don't try doing a romance story with Clementine again, I'm fine with Clem having a friend her age.

  • Exactly. Even if they do, don't have it be the main story, just have it off to the side.

  • As long as it's a girl of her age, I'm totally fine with it. Just no more troublemakers like Gabe.

  • TWD is largely about human relationships so yeah

  • I honestly wouldn't mind having a boy her age be her friend as long as he's written better than Gabe.

  • But I'm afraid that the audience are gonna ship Clem and a boy of her age regardless if they're just friends or not.

  • I can hear the interactions as we speak. A likable well written character that is Clem's age. When the guy wants a relationship with Clem she replies with "Sorry I have a crush on the one and only fuckup known as Gabe"

  • She likes the pudding i guess.

  • That's really sexist, dude.

Honestly if it's well written and not overly forced I'd be fine with whatever relationship Clementine gets in.

  • FUCKEM! That's what Telltale should've continued doing.

  • The amount of people saying "No" genuinely don't care about Clementine or good storytelling.

I wonder if it's because they're afraid they'll force a relationship between the two.

  • I care about good storytelling. I also haven't said one way or the other, though, so sue me.

Relationship or just a friendship either one would be great. It wouldn't be interesting if she was just a loner that didn't care for anyone

As VengefulKenny said, The Walking Dead's intended focus has always been human dynamics. I would be open to Clementine having a relationship with pretty much anyone as long as they write it well.

People who don't want Clem to ever be in a sexual or romantic relationship need to take a few steps back.
  • Her friend shouldn't be trouble maker and annoying.

I'm getting sick with annoying character...

  • As long as that kid wont be a whiny, dumb pain in the ass and if they wont force a romance like they did in ANF, I am okay with Clem have a companion.

  • Like Gabe? Yeah, same here.

  • The best friend for her is a dog, the only kisses she'll get are happy pupper's ones.

  • I'm fine with a relationship or just a friend, the only requirements are they should be well written and have a real purpose in the story.

  • Hey, don't CinemaSins the shit out of me.

  • I voted yes to a male friend with a determinant relationship. I could've bought into the ClemxGabe stuff if there'd been more scenes with them interacting and more time having passed to develop that friendship. As it is however, it made me physically uncomfortable and even frustrated me on some level that they didn't take extra time on what is essentially Clementine's first real crush. It didn't feel natural her falling in love that fast to give the speech that she did, and even if Gabe might've reminded her of time's before the ZA, or Duck, or whatever the case is, it still makes me cringe just talking about it right now. I've come across a lot of pairings over the years and that was not one of the good ones, it could've been, but it wasn't.

That's why I'd be open to her making a new friend that's male [or even female if that was an option as well], and to leave any relationship determinant as that wasn't the case with Gabe [because regardless of what outcome there's still hints of it there.] But overall if we're talking about a friend, then yes, it definitely would like for Clementine to have a best buddy her age in the final season, and if relationships are an option we as the players can pursue in our playthroughs, then I hope the game wouldn't make the same mistakes of Gabriel Bieber.

If I were to build up the relationship between Clem and her New friend, I'd wait until Episode 5 to determine the relationship.

Have them be onscreen together a lot starting from Ep.1, similar to Bigby and Snow, and have choices affect your relationship. If you stuck by him most of the time and took his side in agruments, he'd have feelings for you. If not, he won't have feelings.

I also wanna see the look on Gabe's face if Clem returns to Richmond, holding hands with a boy he never met. XD

Agreed. I think this would be the best course of action for them to take on something like this.

  • It was unnecessary is what it was. It was really just there because they realized they didn't have anything to make Clementine's presence not expose how superfluous she was.

The funny thing about that is that back when I assumed that there were gonna be more seasons/installments and Telltale would stick to their guns for once, I thought they'd just introduce a girl he met in Richmond as his possible love interset if they ever revisited the Garcias.

But that would've been the clever, realistic, and mature option, now wouldn't've it?

  • Hey @Alyssa_TTG ! Thought you'd be interested about the results if Clem should have a friend her age in The Final Season, also on how it should be built up. Right Here:

  • I'd prefer it to be optional. I'm tired of forced friendships and relationships. It'd make me think about buying this last season instead of watching it on Youtube if we had more diverse choices - more branching. Pretty much picking and choosing your group, or going on your own. Like in season 2, I would have abandoned the cabin group the moment I reunited with Kenny but it wasn't an option. I would have left with Kenny & the baby (also Jane if possible, back then) when we fixed the truck.

We should! That sounds like a great idea!

The next poll should be about which comic character(s) would you want to see in The Final Season?
